Me and my sister were talking about this last night. Her DC are 10 and 5 and she loves sharing a bed with them. She thinks they’ll never be too old. I share a bed with my 18 month old until we move into our new house and she gets her own bedroom. I love it but I equally can’t wait for her to have her space and me mine. She’ll always be my baby but I can’t imagine her coming to visit me when she’s 30 and us sharing a bed.

Are you ever too old to share a bed with your mum?

We bedshare with 6yo DS2. The teens stopped coming in when they were about 9 or 10.

I can’t imagine sharing a bed with my mum now.

Not thing there is she loves it.

They may very well not.

Allthewaves · 10/10/2017 18:02

Definitely. I hate sharing bed woth anyone so perhaps I'm bias but.couldn't imagine my sons as teens coming in bed for a cuddle

WitchesHatRim · 10/10/2017 18:02

*big

As long as everyone is comfortable with it I don’t see a problem.

I would share a bed with my mum Now happily - but we have a good relationship and are tight enough to do anything to save a few quid

TabbyMumz · 10/10/2017 18:03

You want to share a bed with your daughter when she is 30? That's very weird I'm afraid.

Marmite27 · 10/10/2017 18:05

God no, my DM snores for England, I’d end up smothering her.

Didn’t bother my DB though, they co-slept until he was 11/12 and he could convince his friends, then girlfriend to stay over. In fact we think he only got married and had his own kids so he never has to sleep alone Grin

OuchBollocks · 10/10/2017 18:06

My granny and my mum co slept on holiday last year. My granny is 84 :)

ScrabbleFiend · 10/10/2017 18:06

My 9 year old sleeps in with me about once a week, I'm dreading the day he doesn't want to. I'm in my 40's and shared a bed with my mum once or twice whilst on holiday last year. My sil (30's) used to hop into her parents bed in the mornings for a cuddle when she visited them abroad, her mum died recently, she was very young. Am sure my sil treasures those moments now.

Blu99 · 10/10/2017 18:07

TabbyMumz read the post properly lol. I said I can’t imagine her coming to visit me and me wanting to share with her.

I still share a bed with my mum at family fictions when there's no space elsewhere and I'm 28 she's 47!

Not often though, once every few years, she snores!!

nellyboo2 · 10/10/2017 18:11

I shared a bed with my mum when I was heavily pregnant but that was due to circumstances not wanting to. I was 26 at the time. Now 31 and wouldn’t touch my mum with a barge pole unless I have to. Strange how relationships change over the years. My son is 4.5 and will happily sleep in my bed any time (always his choice). Doesn’t help I’ve got the most comfortable new bed in the world!!

Steeley113 · 10/10/2017 18:12

I would if it was like a hotel/staying at families and there was only 1 bed. I wouldn't get in for a cuddle casually though lol.

CuppaSarah · 10/10/2017 18:14

I have a would share with my mum. If we stayed icer each others house I might come sit in her bed and have a cuppa in the morning. Tbh I've done that with mil too.

TheOtherGirl · 10/10/2017 18:16

Our DDs are in their early teens and still sometimes sleep in with me if DH is away. They like to because our bed is really big and cosy. DD1 is very snuggly and likes to cuddle up, DD2 not snuggly at all and very much keeps to her side of the bed Grin

I would prefer to never need to share a bed with my Mum but it wouldn't bother me if we had to.

BigcatLittlecat · 10/10/2017 18:17

When I was really ill last year I shared a bed with my mum! Actually kicked my dad out! I was 44 and my mum was 76. I just wanted my mum as I felt so so ill!

The thought of sharing a bed with my mother makes me shudder.

Out2pasture · 10/10/2017 18:19

Ummm I’m 60, my 85 yr old mom booked a holiday (with cousin 70 and her 96 yr old mother) I think I’ll be sharing a bed with my mom.....

ConciseandNice · 10/10/2017 18:20

Our middle son was 8 when we basically forced him out because I was pregnant. It still makes me sad now and I blame myself for his emotional insecurities (I also weaned him off the breast before he was ready at 18 months). I know it's a reach, but I feel bad. I can't imagine sharing a bed with my mother though. Hell no.

iklboo · 10/10/2017 18:23

I'd rather peel myself from the feet up. DS has never slept in our bed either. He comes in for cuddles in the morning but I reckon that will be tailing off as he gets older.

Ilovehamabeads · 10/10/2017 18:23

My mum and I share a premier inn bed when we do city breaks. We can't afford a room each! The beds are big enough that we don't feel weird about it Smile

ShatnersBassoon · 10/10/2017 18:23

I'd share a bed with my mum or my kids if I had to and I wouldn't moan or feel weird about it, but I wouldn't choose to. I only share a bed with DH because it would hurt his feelings if I surprised him with twin beds.

Sallystyle · 10/10/2017 18:25

I am super close to my mum but I drawer the line at sharing a bed with her.

We had to do it once and it was awkward for both of us. I can't imagine wanting to share a bed with my 30 year old child.
