To be in tears thinking I will never get over this bug?

Have a bad stomach bug which originally caused severe stomach cramps and loss of appetite/nausea but then turned into diarrhea which I have now had for 9 days. Doctor just said to wait it out but although I feel a bit better and the time between each diorohea attack is lengthening, it is still there and worse in the early hours. I have it three or four times in the day which aren't that bad but in the night it is a different story and I have it 1-2 times really bad.
I have already taken a week off work and dread the thought of calling in for yet another week. Most people who get diorohea are over it in 5 days, I don't get why it is not the same for me. I really cannot live like this anymore wondering when it will decide to stop, it is pure hell :(

How are you feeling now?

Sienna333 · 25/10/2017 14:16

Feel like I am improving everyday and the heartburn/acid feeling isn't as bad. Appetite is through the roof which is a good thing.

Calculated that I was first ill from about the 19th September and it's only really been yesterday and today that my stomach is slowly starting to feel better. I had 19 days of D, a week of stomach cramps and nausea as well as no appetite. Still a bit scared as to why it took so long to leave me.

Concerned about the weight loss as well. I am 5'3 and I dropped to 7 stone but now up to 7 stone 5. Luckily I can wear big jumpers and cover up.

Thank you for asking. Hope you are ok x

I was watching the programme about our biome yesterday. I thought of you. Have you seen it? I think its Michael Mosely narrating or a Scottish lady presenter. Definitely her, not sure about him.

It was called Gut Revolution on ABC Australia. You might be able to watch it on iview.

I will take a look, thank you Penelope

Hope you feel fully better now and your week back at work goes ok

I agree with the poster of not eating for 24 hours. One doctor recommended this to me after a few days of diarrhea (never can spell right!) and sorted it out. Basically, no food and only water for 24 hours. Then introduce foods slowly back...starting with banana, toasted white bread, apple sauce and white rice for one day...little at a time to see what you can tolerate. Banana helps stop diarrhoea. You might need to be on this sort of diet a couple of days and then you can slowly add more foods in. Dairy is the worst thing, so stay clear for a couple weeks! Yogurt with good bacteria might be okay after your tummy settled a few days. Good luck.

Thank you. I am on the up now, stools pretty much normal and only going once a day. There has been an E coli outbreak in my area so it seems very likely that this is what it was.

Can't believe it but since Tuesday it seems to be coming back. :(
No stomach pain, vile smelling poo/farts or loose watery diarrhea but I am pooing all the time. The stools are small and normal and I have to strain to get them out but there just seems to be endless amounts of it. What the fuck is wrong with me.

Looking like it is UC or Chrones so not just me over reacting. I was fine for weeks as I said here and on Thursday I was on the loo constantly passing small but firm stools 7 or 8 times and all was fine until today when it has been a similar story. I haven't eaten anything different so it is looking like it is something chronic.
