To challenge you all to name a stupider co-worker than mine?

I'm a project manager and have recently had a new person join the team. They need to be given various user accounts and access privileges, and there's a system for requesting all that.

I delegated the task of requesting all the stuff to one of my team supervisors - he might not be the brightest crayon in the box but the whole procedure consists of filling in a web-based form, uploading a passport picture and hitting the 'submit' button. What could possibly go wrong, right?

Imagine my reaction when I got an e-mail requesting that, in my function as the new joiner's manager, I supply a passport picture ...

... as opposed to the phone snapshot of an actual passport that my genius co-worker had sent to them!

And, no, he wasn't taking the piss, he actually is that bloody thick! Angry

Please tell me there's worse out there!

I'm glad you're not my Line Manager Shock

Are you seriously asking people to post about 'stupid' colleagues? Not nice op.

Ifailed · 02/10/2017 19:27

I take it you haven't been a PM for long if you find this so astounding that you had to post about it on here.

LaurieFairyCake · 02/10/2017 19:29

‘More stupid’

Stupider isn’t a word. So maybe, you? Grin

TittyGolightly · 02/10/2017 19:29

I used to run a hotel restaurant and had a waitress who would:

Run out of knives when laying up so put down forks or spoons in their place;
Put out jugs of fresh milk ready for breakfast.......the night before;
Use flower vases if she ran out of milk jugs.

Her name was Bernadette. If you said it fast enough it really sounded like brain dead.......

PinkHeart5913 · 02/10/2017 19:30

What a lovely thread.

Come on people call your co workers Thick & Stupid, Well I’m glad I don’t work for you

GrumpyOldBag · 02/10/2017 19:32

Some forms do require you to upload an image of the photo page of your passport though.

So I think it's an understandable mistake.

tigerdriverII · 02/10/2017 19:32

Oh good grief lighten up you misery brigade.

GrumpyOldBag · 02/10/2017 19:32

You are living up to your user name, OP.

(and , yes, mine is very apt too)

RebelRogue · 02/10/2017 19:34

So he uploaded an actual passport picture as opposed to a passport picture. Not the worst mistake in the world.

BishopstonFaffing · 02/10/2017 19:34

Stupider is a word. And I think op meant a photo of the outside of a passport.

Pickleypickles · 02/10/2017 19:34

It took one of our electrical engineers an our and a half to work out a fuse had blown and thats why the light wouldnt come on....

Papafran · 02/10/2017 19:34

Stupider isn’t a word

Ah, sadly Laurie, it is a word...

5rivers7hills · 02/10/2017 19:36

Bloody hell thread police. So it's ok to come on here and birch about stupid DHs who people have actually chosen but you can't bitch about stupid co workers?

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 02/10/2017 19:37

You know people you can just scroll past? You don’t have to virtue signal contribute nothing but how appalled you are that people are being meanies. It’s an anonymous forum, lighten up.

Having said that I don’t really understand the big problem in the OP

catsarenice · 02/10/2017 19:38

I think op means they sent a photo of a passport not the photo page.

To challenge you all to name a stupider co-worker than mine?
catsarenice · 02/10/2017 19:38

Which is pretty dim.....

Taylor22 · 02/10/2017 19:41

Working in a bar. All from same girl.

-what goes in a Vodka redbull.
-how do I make a water.
-what's the difference between a pint and half a pint.

BexleyRae · 02/10/2017 19:42

E-mailed a document to another office for them to print out, they needed 3 copies, asked for the other 2 copies to be e-mailed over. They couldn't figure out to just print 3 copies of the original e-mail

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 02/10/2017 19:42

Ah I see cats
In which case that is pretty dumb!

Lanaa · 02/10/2017 19:42

There are some po faced miserable people on this thread.

Your colleague sounds like an idiot OP. Is he generally that thick?

5rivers7hills · 02/10/2017 19:43

I've not got a co-worker one but I've got a dumb bar staff one:
Me:"I'll have a bulmers cider please"
Bar staff: "Which flavour"
Me: "oh, apple thanks"
BS "we don't have apple, just original and pear"

Doh!!!

SoPassRemarkable · 02/10/2017 19:43

Someone who made cheese on toast in a normal toaster. Smoke detectors went off which trigger an automatic response from the fire brigade!

burninghigh · 02/10/2017 19:46

Your getting hounded op. I understood what you meant and I would agree that he sounds like he is not paying attention to his job. Presumably this is a fairly standard thing that there are lots of examples he could refer to if he wasn't sure. Some people do behave as though they are thick.

BossyBitch · 02/10/2017 19:48

Yes, cats that's pretty much exactly what he posted - except the new guy's not British, so slightly different colour and emblem.

And, yes, stupider is a word.

BishopstonFaffing · 02/10/2017 19:48

I worked in a pub and someone asked for a pint of lager and a whisky. Colleague out it in the same glass.
