To think my cleaner shouldn't eat all the biscuits

I've noticed that my cleaning lady is clearing me out of biscuits. She eats an entire biscuit tin whilst she's in my home. So 1-2 packets. She's never asked if it's ok or replaced anything. I've never offered them to her either.

Please do what kurrikurri suggests

Perhaps record a little song John Denver style

"You fill up with bis-cuits
Till my tin is left emp-ty
And I must go shop-ping
To fill it again"

Whitney168 · 03/10/2017 13:59

Perhaps you should leave out two packs of biscuits for her, after all she is cleaning your house for you

Yes, true. I expect she wandered in off the street and is doing it just for biscuits, out of the kindness of her heart.

As others have said earlier, a lot of posters on this thread are making a very arrogant assumption that cleaning is not a chosen profession for many, that they feel pays a satisfactory wage. Nobody could possibly be happy doing this, they are all living a life of servitude and misery.

Even if that were true, she still should not be stealing stuff!

SilverySurfer · 03/10/2017 14:54

I told my cleaner about this thread this morning and she thought it most odd. She related the time a person for whom she cleaned accused her of stealing Domestos because the bottle was empty. I had visions of her decanting a bit each week into a bottle to smuggle it home Grin My cleaner explained it was empty because she had used it cleaning the woman's bathroom etc and not being amused of being accused of theft and because she had more work than she could handle, she effectively gave the woman the sack.

Malib · 03/10/2017 14:55

Our cleaners insist on waking our baby for cuddles despite numerous warnings not to. Had to get new ladies. I would suggest that, although it is a pain.

That Lionel Richtea is brilliantSmileSmileBiscuit

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/10/2017 15:12

Can you give her a tin of biscuits for Christmas, OP?

Willow2017 · 03/10/2017 15:18

If you don't want the cleaner to eat biscuits then don't leave biscuits

How ridiculous!

I presume the op has bread in the bread bin? Shouldnt she leave that there either in case its too much of a temptation for the cleaner too?
You do not expect someone to be riffling through your kitchen looking for food when they are there to do a job.

OP has a biscuit tin, its perfectly normal and she shouldnt have to hide it in case the cleaner takes every sodding biscuit for herself. If she is doing this at every house she cleans at she will be quids in!

PennyLoop · 03/10/2017 15:32

I'm shocked she can eat that many biscuits in 3 hours!! So unhealthy!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/10/2017 15:39

You'd be surprised how many I can eat in an hour, Penny.

She's a cleaner, that burns s lot of calories.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/10/2017 15:46

Cheap biscuits are pennies, it wouldn't bother me at all.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/10/2017 15:47

**and they would be cheap, at 2 packets a go that would mount up!Grin

Emily7708 · 03/10/2017 16:10

I had four bourbons today (in the interests of research) and it rendered me unable to be arsed to do any cleaning at all.

Ineke · 03/10/2017 17:40

I am a cleaner, the lovely people for whom I clean tell me to help myself to tea and coffee and biscuits. I would not take more than one or two if there were any there to take, so, if your buiscuits are going walk about, why don't you put what you are prepared to give on a saucer on a small tray with a cup and a jar of tea or coffee next to it so she can see what is a reasonable amount to munch. Biscuits are a more ish munch so you could hide the rest if you were really bothered, maybe, though, she is genuinely hungry. You could also say something to her about it and clear the air.

Drknittingfrog · 03/10/2017 17:40

Well I say you don't go the route of putting nasty cheap biscuits in the room because then if she does not eat them... Then you will have to! Hope you get it sorted op.... The biscuit tin magically empties itself at home too ( or so I try to convince my husband 😉)

Kfezza86 · 03/10/2017 17:41

Why should she have to hide or move the biscuits in her own home. The cleaner shouldn't be jus helping herself.. it's the principle of the matter.. she is paid to clean not take all the biscuits.. fair enough have a couple of biccies with a cuppa when on your break but to take the whole lot is extremely cheeky! I would also be wondering what else she is helping herself to..

strawberrisc · 03/10/2017 17:45

Oh to have your problems

lindipops · 03/10/2017 17:45

Maybe she takes the biscuits home because it is a treat for the family and something they can't afford really . I would just mentally include it as part of her perks unless it is something you can't afford, in which case gently have a word with her. But a couple of packets of biscuits is no big deal and as long as she is trustworthy regarding everything else - I won't let it bother me.

Ineke · 03/10/2017 17:46

Alternatively, buy some pkts of really cheap for about 30p a pkt and let her munch on that. I am sure you couldn't begrudge that. Garibaldi biscuits might do the trick! Squashed flies!

MrsWez · 03/10/2017 17:47

It's a bit naughty. But are you absolutely certain it's her??
Also, she probably works hard, gets hungry, and earns the minimum wage. So maybe YRBU.

brightspark2 · 03/10/2017 17:48

Stop buying biscuits- healthier for your family and your cleaner - tell her you're on a healthy life style change and saving the extra for her wages- to make her job financially viable and provide her with stable employment.

Willow2017 · 03/10/2017 17:52

Never seen a cleaner on minimum wage! They all get £10 - £12 an hour round here. I look after people's kids and get much less than half of that!

I am sure she doesn't just work 3 hours at ops house a week she will have other clients. What is she stealing from them to supplement her wages?
I am shocked that people think its ok to go raking in your employers kitchen and take whole packets off food for yourself!

SmileEachDay · 03/10/2017 17:53

I'm just going to need to digestive this for while. Can't decide if you should set up a camera to catch her with her chocolate fingers in the till or if you're better off going off your ginger nut with her. Either way, don't get yourself in a Viennese whirl about it, you donut know her circumstances.*

*not strictly a biscuit

** i don't think you should do any of these things, this was just for

binary's benefit.

JohnHunter · 03/10/2017 18:08

I wouldn't let someone nose around my house if their honesty and/or situational judgement was this bad.

WorraLiberty · 03/10/2017 18:10
