This might shed a glimmer of light on that mini

Kyle Griffin @kylegriffin1
Quite the conversation Robert Reich had with a former Republican member of Congress. This is worth a read.

Lweji · 12/10/2017 08:36

Anyone starting a petition to close Trump hotels?

I'm more worried than I've ever been, and that's saying something. I don't think he'll be removed any time soon. He won't quit. I expect significant damages to democracy and people's welfare in the meantime, and I'm usually optimistic.

Roussette · 12/10/2017 08:39

I am Shock at the CNN banning.

This bit.... " "issue an order to shut off this negative force undermining your presidency."

What does he want, Fox piped everywhere ?

badbadhusky · 12/10/2017 08:40

I wonder sometimes whether Trump, in his quiter moments, thinks "gee, maybe it wasn't my most brilliant idea to run for POTUS and bring my kids on board (and then poke the judiciary/Intelligence agencies) when we collectively have more than enough skeletons in our closets to see us behind bars."

Fekko · 12/10/2017 08:43

I doubt he ever has those moments because he has a mentality that just doesn't think too deeply about things. He is not very bright or much of a thinker. He is like Winnie the pooh's evil cousin. A president of very little brain.

badbadhusky · 12/10/2017 08:54

My preferred finale is the one where they all end up going time for their crimes. The one I'm hoping we avoid is the 'When the Wind Blows' version. We don't have an understairs cupboard or basement and I still haven't shaken off The Road, despite reading it 7+ years ago.

badbadhusky · 12/10/2017 08:54

doing

Roussette · 12/10/2017 09:06

I can't imagine he ever thinks about skeletons in the cupboard and should he have run for POTUS etc... he ain't self aware and the only regret will be not being able to play golf whenever he wants without criticism.

So he challenged Tillerson to an IQ test saying he would win. I LMAO at that because to me he comes across as thick and a liar. He might've had businesses but he's really just a shyster and money launderer. He can't control his impulses and that's why Twitter shouldn't be taken away from him, it's evidence when eventually he's removed from office hopeful

PerkingFaintly · 12/10/2017 09:13

Sorry, Minimammoth, I don't know how much longer for Trump himself.

But sadly him going won't be the end of it.

As we've already seen, the forces that put Trump in the White House - Robert Mercer, Bannon, the ultra-rich ultra-right - don't really need him. They just needed a front man and brand for the election. Now they're claiming to be "doing Trumpism" while ditching Mr Trump.

When the man himself is gone, they will carry on. In fact the ideal for them would be Trump losing the Presidency in some way that allows them to claim victimhood and conspiracy, and helps them whip up support and anger.

Just came on to post the Robert Reich tweet, but see Pain beat me to it Grin A glimmer of hope perhaps.

lionheart · 12/10/2017 09:43

From the Reich piece it seems that tax reform is their immediate goal.

I can't see that they have the decency to stand up to him as yet but who knows what the grassroots Republicans will do.

And Mueller.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/10/2017 10:05

rousette I think this is sums it up pretty well

The Secret Barrister‏ @BarristerSecret

The Secret Barrister Retweeted NBC News
While mass gun slaughter is no reason to interfere with 2nd Amendment, printing the truth about the President is enough to scrap the First.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/10/2017 10:08

The problem is, if the GOP are worried he's uncontrollable and might deploy nuclear bombs, annihilating potentially millions of people and starting a world war and still think tax reform is the priority, I'm not sure that does offer much hope.

A thoughtful piece about how both Eminem and 45 use pop culture strategy to create their in-groups and out-groups, and why 45 hasn't yet retaliated against Eminem.

Eminem’s Anti-Trump Rap Pits Whiteness Against Itself
www.thedailybeast.com/eminems-anti-trump-rap-pits-whiteness-against-itself-7

"Eminem attacked Trump, who has yet to respond even though he’s supposedly unable to stop himself from reacting to any attack. We see now that that’s not quite true.
...
"That might be because of one critical way Eminem is unlike the Gold Star Khans, Meryl Streep, Chelsea Manning, immigrants, or the NFL kneelers: He’s a white male. Trump’s style is to attack non-whites or white women, in order to burnish his reputation with the sort of white men who make up his base. When Trump attacks white men, they’re always cultural elites—usually in media or elected office.
"My guess is that Eminem won’t be attacked because there’s not an easy identity angle to exploit and because there’s some overlap between the fanbases of Trump and Eminem."

I think that if he does deliver on any part of their agenda they will hold out for more regardless of the cost. They have a long, long 'wish-list.'

lionheart · 12/10/2017 11:02

This looks interesting. Groundrules for the upcoming Sessions session.

Another crucial aspect of the GOP agenda as it relates to judicial nominees.

PerkingFaintly · 12/10/2017 11:25

Wait, what?

That Caroline O thread above, mobile.twitter.com/RVAwonk/status/918221346689245184 ... Michael Flynn disclosed Cambridge Analytica were paying him?! What for?

What work would a former director of US intelligence have been doing for them?

OP posts:
Minimammoth · 12/10/2017 11:39

Oh dear Perking those are deep roots, we haven't evolved much have we. How sad.
Can someone remind me what Cambridge Analytica do.
( I will endeavour to keep up)

PerkingFaintly · 12/10/2017 12:12

Cambridge Analytica is a data analysis company which acquires personal data about people from their Facebook postings and other sources. It uses this to create psychological profiles of individual people, tied to their RL identities, so that it can target them with messages which will be particularly emotionally effective on them.

If Cambridge Analytica is working for a soap powder company, those messages will be adverts (obvious or under the guise of news or posts from a Facebook Friend) to sell more soap.

During the US election, Cambridge Analytica was working for the Trump campaign.

The recently linked Beast article is reasonably good: Probe Now Investigating Cambridge Analytica, Trump’s ‘Psychographic’ Data Gurus

This is also an excellent summary (it's been amended because of legal challenges, details at bottom of article): www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/may/07/the-great-british-brexit-robbery-hijacked-democracy

Cambridge Analytica's parent company, SCL, is a specialist in psy ops.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCL_Group
'Based on results, communications will be specifically targeted to key audience groups to modify behavior in accordance with the goal of SCL's client. The company describes itself as a "global election management agency".'

badbadhusky · 12/10/2017 12:27

I keep wondering when we'll hit rock bottom & there will be any move to unseat this turd. It's proving to a long drop. Sad

AcrossthePond55 · 12/10/2017 12:28

I wonder why on Earth he's being so vindictive towards PR. Did he want to build a hotel or golf course there and they shot him down or something?

People are dying due to lack of clean water and food and he's tweeting about money?

He is truly one sick puppy.

Roussette · 12/10/2017 12:42

Across I read he built the Trump golf resort, it went tits up, and this happened...

The golf club collapsed following the recession, leaving Puerto Rican taxpayers out of pocket to the tune of $32.7m, according to a bankruptcy court filing from the government..

Yet he's blaming them??
