It used to be a good place.

Now it's full of posters with long drawn out, multiple threads about boring banal shit.

Cheeky Neighbour thread Number 20.

My Boring Life Thread Number 100.

My Blossoming Heart Throb (who happens to be a gardener) Thread Number 90.

My Awful Life In General Thread Number 200.

And if anyone dares to challenge the OP of a multiple thread they must be a harpy or troll.

The fact that the multiple-thread-starters might be trolls themselves seems to escape the attention of the fans.

flippinada

Have you been feeding them enough jacket potatoes for supper?

The potatoes should be served with prawns and lobster tails or it won't work.

AVirtuousLife · 29/09/2017 16:12

That Scheherazade thread was fantastic.

Such a shame she couldn't make it for the live chat...

I'm always so charmed at how baked potatoes are such a great leveller. I can enjoy them in my Grade I+++ listed home and think it's just wonderful that my char lady Mrs Scraggs can also be part of the wonderful world of baked potatoes.

NatMatCat · 29/09/2017 16:21

Everyone on here has been so high and mighty when it comes to taking a moral position on anything since forever. I don't get what motivates people to be such bloody goody two shoes all the time. This place is anonymous. It's more fun to be a bit subversive.

@Maryz ... im 22, I usually read around two books a week, and I have a Master’s degree in literature. But sure, kids don’t read Hmm

flippinada · 29/09/2017 16:35

Baked potatoes? I suppose they may be eaten by the type of person who doesn't have an Aga. Which I do. In my grade 1 mansion. Did I mention how marvellous they are for preparing a simple supper?

And, of course, one mustn't forget the salad.

Now do please excuse me, I must go and re-hang the cling film in the east wing.

SquirrelPlantedBeech · 29/09/2017 16:36

Isaac Crumb has done for me.

ShizzleYoDrizzle · 29/09/2017 16:51

Get one of those lovely son in laws out of your bed to help you with the clingfilming.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 29/09/2017 16:54

22-year-olds also aren't "kids", Beatrice

But what MaryZ is true. I haven't read a book since 1992 when I was -2. I communicate in a series of squawks and angry squelching noises. My goat is typing this message out for me.

I couldn't possibly. Besides, he's frolicking in the grounds with a crowd who have gathered to sing an impromptu chorus of "for she's a jolly good fellow". They've somehow arranged for a statue of yours truly to be erected in the village square!

I am blessed.

BitOfFun · 29/09/2017 17:11

It's all standard lifecycle of a forum stuff though, really. It makes me a bit sad, because I've made many friends through my years here, and met some incredible women. But it's basically time for somebody else's turn, and they will make it the forum that they enjoy, and that's fair enough.

DoubleNegativePanda · 29/09/2017 17:17

Penis beaker wasn't even that long ago, it's been on the decline since long before that. I've been on here longer than I'd like to admit, and as everything does, Mumsnet has changed greatly in the last decade+.

Won't stop me from reading and posting, though. Does inspire more fucking bad language from me than it used to, though!

MsGameandWatching · 29/09/2017 17:20

I think people have just grown out of it.

That said Penis Beaker was excruciatingly awful and I personally think changed MN for good.

thecatfromjapan · 29/09/2017 17:23

BitofFun - it's lovely to see you, my dear. Smile

It was hilarious, and an interesting response to the subversive element, in the context of how it would go these days.

On a more serious note

They've somehow arranged for a statue of yours truly to be erected in the village square!

I am blessed

yes, and it evidently has a jewellery quarter along with a gelatariaraiaiaia

ClashCityRocker · 29/09/2017 17:43

There's less engagement with other posters I reckon.

You used to be able to have a conversation, or a discussion on most threads.

Now all of the threads in chat and Aibu are just posters interjecting their view point having barely read the thread and fucking off.

And everyone's desperate to be part of the next 'in' joke.

I still enjoy many of the boards though and have had some excellent advice from kind miners.

Ginslinger · 29/09/2017 17:53

I agree Clash - I think this is the most engagement I've had in months. I'm sick of the snippy posters who come onto threads and are just plain mean to the poster.

I wonder if flippinada's village would have a nice boutique where I could buy a flouncing outfit Hmm

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 29/09/2017 17:55

@OvariesBeforeBrovaries I said kids sarcastically because she called up kids x

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 29/09/2017 17:55
