It used to be a good place.

Now it's full of posters with long drawn out, multiple threads about boring banal shit.

Cheeky Neighbour thread Number 20.

My Boring Life Thread Number 100.

My Blossoming Heart Throb (who happens to be a gardener) Thread Number 90.

My Awful Life In General Thread Number 200.

And if anyone dares to challenge the OP of a multiple thread they must be a harpy or troll.

The fact that the multiple-thread-starters might be trolls themselves seems to escape the attention of the fans.

I posted similar (possibly under a different name) about a year ago and got the whole 'I haven't noticed' but yanbu.

It's got a bit limp here. Good, fair advice is often shot down as being harsh and there is loads of excessive LTB nonsense.

It still kicks netmums arse but it doesn't pack the punch it once did.

VeryCunningStunt · 28/09/2017 23:18

Wonder what time this will be deleted for not being 'in the spirit of the site' (the irony being that it is bemoaning the dearth of spirit on the site nowadays)

SoPassRemarkable · 28/09/2017 23:20

Mumsnet is so crap lately I'm considering increasing my hours to full time because I'm bored! Grin

VeryCunningStunt · 28/09/2017 23:22

I'm not sure it's just Mumsnet and I'm not sure it's IQ, it's more that people are less able to actually communicate with each other, in words

Someone raised an interesting point on another forum about the rise of the smart phone and the death of genuine engagement/interaction.

Typing on a tiny screen with your thumb is not conducive to creating a well-considered thoughtful piece of writing, and it's far easier to just fire off a superficial knee-jerk response.

TheMathsTrainee · 28/09/2017 23:23

I think it's 'cause you've been on MN too long and seen everything before and repeated for the nth time.

BitOfFun · 28/09/2017 23:26

The demographic seems to have changed a bit .

I feel sorry for MNHQ though- it can't be easy wading through all the fantasist troll threads, especially as they don't seem to have the same cadre of community staff who remember all the old Pests Of Yore.

AVirtuousLife · 28/09/2017 23:26

Oh, I would love MN to come on and say they're deleting this thread "because it's not in the spirit of the site" or "it's not doing anyone any favours" and "isn't in anyone's best interests" Hmm

And, and... apparently if a poster has second thoughts about their fucking stupid post then they can request that it's removed??? And why?
"Because it's not doing anyone any favours"

Time was, if you posted a load of shit it had to stand and you had to own it. Angry

Nowadays if you are a bit of a spoilt princess and you post shit you can get it deleted.

What was penis beaker?!

endehors · 28/09/2017 23:28

Troll hunters are worse than the trolls didn't you know.

The fantasists.

The multi threads with implausible plots, catchy acronyms and fangirls are rife too.

The crappy nicknames for all the characters.
And the fucking poems.

How about a pavlova?

ThierryEnnui · 28/09/2017 23:32

Ah sorry wrong thread

AVirtuousLife · 28/09/2017 23:32

Oh god that's a depressing thing Maryz.

I'm now quite sad at the thought of the demise of verbal/written argument.

AVirtuousLife · 28/09/2017 23:34

Thierry - is it a star-shaped pavlova?

Not just any pavlova... an M&S pavlova.

In the Hotel Vernet?

It’s a tiny pavlova, Virtuous - to go along with other tiny miniature desserts for Adult Supper Parties.

I’d love to shop at M&S but sadly there isn’t one in the village.

SumThucker · 28/09/2017 23:36

How about a pavlova?

I prefer the gammon.

I'll only countenance pavlova if it comes with a side order of gammon.

VeryCunningStunt · 28/09/2017 23:38

Snap, Sum!

ThierryEnnui · 28/09/2017 23:39

See, Sum, I find gammon meat slightly salty myself and like to soften the flavours a bit with Cumberland sausage. Red cabbage on the side and a cheese and vegetable tart always goes down well with the neighbours, too

SumThucker · 28/09/2017 23:40

My gammon is the talk of the village though.

Coconutspongexo · 28/09/2017 23:41

I imagine the fact that there's a lot of perverted troll posts lately don't help - especially members who have seen the decline.

Then there's the posters that are blatantly constantly lying and have lots of inconsistencies with what they say but nothing is ever done about it.

I've only used MN for 3 years but there does appear to be more ridiculous posts In such a short period of time
