Maybe it's just me, but I'll kick off with:
Booby monster (or any kind of 'monster')
Figetbum (not seen this often, but it is so horrific I can't forget it)
Snuggly cuddles (see also milky cuddles, and sleepy cuddles or snuggles)
Newborn, used as a noun, not an adjective - as in my newborn, not my newborn baby.
I'm sure I will think of some more!

'Thoughts?' at the end of a post fuck off its not a survey

Reader.
As in, someone who thinks they're an aspiring writer with a captive audience who ends their quip with something like,
Reader, I almost vomited Hmm

I hate 'I've got big/small norks' or anyone who calls breasts norks. No idea why it just sounds awful
Also
The morons who refer to something as 'being from a particular class' or calling themselves 'middle class' etc (nand thread a classic example). So cringe and embarrassing

What do we think of... Are you incapable of having an independent thought?Angry

I also hate
'Are you on glue?'
It makes no sense!!
Surely you'd say 'have you been sniffing glue?' People aren't really 'on' glue as the effects are so short lived.
Also.. no one has sniffed glue since 1990

You sound like...

As in 'You sound like hard work', 'You sound jealous' 'You sound like a handful'.

'Did you mean to be so rude'

'Placemarking'

When he marries his mistress he creates a vacancy. No he doesn't . Unless he is a serial womaniser. Sometimes people marry the wrong person first time round. It's not nice but true nonetheless. ONS stats show 45% of first marriages end in divorce as opposed to 31% of second.

Oh and putting 'Dear Reader' into a post - that's the one I hate most

This without a doubt.

Dear Writer,

No!* Sorry but you are not an author of classical novels; in fact it was pretty crap when she did it anyway.

Yours regretfully,

Reader.

*not really a sentence this is it.

"Discuss"

No! This is Mumsnet, not a sixth form seminar!

"Not my circus, not my monkeys"

Weirdly smug.

Not forgetting-

'Hello Ladies' and 'Man here'. Always in for a treat when those words are used.

Gosh

Ducks in a row

YY - is once not enough?

co-sleeping as a stealth boast, as in 'we co-sleep!'

And when some poor women is being driven demented by their screaming/constantly hungry baby who sleeps for an hour out of every 24, the patronising reply of 'sounds about right to me'.

'We had penis in vagina sex'
Who has actually said that in a real conversation?

Is he controlling in other ways?
Especially when the post is along the lines of 'I offered DH a cup of tea but he asked for coffee instead'

'Large of nork' instantly makes me think the writer is a total knob.

I hate 'my dh has a hobby' just fucking say what he does.

Not so much a saying, but I hate the people who come on, describe their partners as complete bastards then say 'but he's a fantastic dad'

Sanpro Angry

Placemarking makes me so cross. You can fucking bookmark your place on a thread and it works perfectly on both PC and tablets. You do not need to fill a thread with . and cheeky little comments about blatantly placemarking, just use the bloody site functionality!

Actually, it really fucking annoys me when a man prefaces his post with 'hello ladies' and every single MNer immediately leaps in to condemn him, yet I've seen many posts from female MNers starting the same way. Double standards, much?

I hate the D's - DC/DS/DD, DH, DSis ad nauseum. Why do they always have to be dear/darling?

Report
