the privilege of not being subservient to the European courts

I find this interesting. Are you saying that the Court doesn't function properly?

If the EU is so bloody great then why are they making it so difficult and expensive to leave

They aren't, you are. They are just holding you to your obligations which you are trying to weasel out of.

In the scheme of things £10b isn't all that much.

Oh, here we go. The NHS might disagree. Should I emblazon it on the side of a bus before you'll believe it?

Oh dear Anotheroneofthesebots. "I voted Remain course you did but I'd vote Leave next time" - because "democracy" ended on June 24th 2016

It really is some kind of bizarre Leave narrative. I assume that at every General Election you vote for whichever party won the last one, because that's what the people voted for.

It really does make you sound incredibly stupid or a bot

Never mind the fact that we're all paying for it already - everytime we go abroad and the value of £s to euros and the dollar erodes ... and erodes ...

Erm that's true of any strong and important relationship. My DH is fantastic but if we had to divorce it would be difficult and expensive too.

But Hollie, working on the much trotted out observation that Brexiter are parochial, thick & less educated, and EU & remainers have a clutch of degrees & are the cosmopolitan movers & shakers of Britain & citizens of everywhere - surely you’ve answered your own question?

I think you may have been the first people on the thread to bring in those stupid fucking stereotypes

It's all mad.

The only thing I think is a definite is that behind the scenes politicians of every colour are shitting themselves and trying desperately to find a way to look as if we've left without actually properly leaving. I don't think it's even really possible to leave now (without simply destroying the country).

Every new piece of news on negotiations, decisions etc. seems to be contradicted a short time later.

There is no real plan because there is no good plan to be found.

And LOL at complaints that the EU must be crap and awful because they aren't making it easy for us to leave. Um no, I think that's a sign that they are probably just the opposite. They work for their members. Which now isn't us (or at least, it might not be - who knows).

This came first - The ignorant and dumb folk won the vote. Hurrah!!!! Shame 52% of folk didn't know what they were voting for and got it all wrong.

It’s de rigeur on any Brexit thread

£10bn for 2 extra years is a HELL OF A LOT CHEAPER than the £80bn the pirates at the EU were asking for. Also, there is no guarantee they will accept it and we might have to leave without any form of agreement in the final analysis. Either way, I would still vote out even though I know it will be hard going for the whole country for a time.

And talking about the stereotypes as I have done on other forums on many different newspapers - I read widely on the Brexit/Remain first before deciding; I discussed with a number of people; I searched out articles for and against on the same topic. OH, btw, I have a BA, 2 PGCs so I don't think I am an ill-informed, uneducated, moronic idiot. I voted on the basis of economic, social, laws and industrial issues.

I have managed to be on many brexit threads without using stereotypes

I dont have a university education...because i didnt want one

I dont have a nanny or au pair or cleaner or gardener because we cant afford it

Rufus, my post about Brexiters being parochial & remainers being jet setters was actually meant to be a bit tongue in cheek - I realise tone is completely missing on typed posts & you didn’t see the overly faux-innocent, wide-eyed ‘but, but , but’ face that I was theatrically pulling when I typed it Grin

I will have to find an emoji that properly represent that in future 😉😂

Hearing the EU bleat about how much we have committed to and how they can't survive without our input, just confirms how much of a net contributor we are.

The absolutely fair thing would have been a clean break divorce with the EU picking up the brexit gap in Europe and us self funding the remaining EU spending plans in Britain. What's not equitable about that?

Faith - unfortunately for you, that argument is a non-starter, because the person who posted that (viviennemary) is also a leave voter. In short, it was a Brexit-supporter who first trotted out the old 'ignorant and dumb' trope.

This is a typical tactic, seen ad nauseum on every MN referendum thread.
