What the hell do you do in the bath?!

I'm sat here, have been for around 10 mins, in the bath and I'm BORED!!

I've just moved into a new house and this is the first place I've lived with a bath for years so I've forgotten how to do it.

I lit some candles (they do that on the telly), I tried reading but my book got wet, I watched the bathbomb fizz around for a bit... now what? Do I just lay here and try to forget the world?

You need a bath pillow and a bathtub tray.
I prop my phone or book up on the tray so it doesn't fall into the water, and rest my head on the pillow. I also only fill the bathtub halfway (pregnant and mahoosive) so bump is out of the water and often amuse myself by watching the baby jiggle my tummy.

Only stay in for 10 minutes though, because I can't have as hot a bath as I'd like and it gets cold quite quickly. But really helps the achy muscles.

Hope you feel better soon!

If you are bored after ten mins then take the full bottle of wine in with you next time.

Amazed no one has mentioned playing with themselves tbh Halo

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 20/09/2017 14:27

You run it as hot as a jacuzzi, then lay there and have sexual fantasies daydream for ages.
Don't really agree with the masturbation post, it's hard to have a decent frig under the water.

flumpybear · 20/09/2017 14:33

Boiling hot bath, lights off, candles on, wine if time appropriate, phone to read Mumsnet Wink and relax .... then half hour rest on the bed afterwards whilst husband is looking after the kids ShockConfused

Katedotness1963 · 20/09/2017 14:33

Take in a pile of magazines and a glass of wine.
Play in the bubbles, read magazines, drink wine, add more hot water, more bubbles, put the world to rights, get out when suitably prune-like.

Rejectedwoman · 20/09/2017 14:33

Shave your minge

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 20/09/2017 14:34

I bring in my kindle for reading, my phone and speaker for music and a vanilla latte, light some candles and just chill. You do need hot water top ups though, if you're in it for the long game.

Fink · 20/09/2017 14:37

Haven't had one for years. I used to get pissed off how quickly they'd go cold and I'd have to spend the whole time emptying out water and refilling.

balsamicbarbara · 20/09/2017 14:38

Listen to LBC or talk radio. Means you can shut your eyes and listen to people talking a load of nonsense and hear about all the traffic jams going on with a smug grin on your face.

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 20/09/2017 14:39

Oh I love a bath but my favourite is sometime in November when I get out all the old Christmas magazines and a couple of new ones and fantasise about a \Christmas which won't happen because largely I cba but for a couple of hours (yes HOURS!) I am a domestic queen, who is going to cook new things, decorate the fireplaces and the stairs, host parties with raucous laughter and tinkly glasses. I do absolutely none of those things but the bath is fantastic and by the time I'm shrivelled and I'm being stalked by DH, I'm over Christmas.

TableMirror · 20/09/2017 14:41

Laptop on the loo and watch some TV!

Or do nothing. Fucking lush.

overnightangel · 20/09/2017 14:44

Radio on and book/magazine/faff on my phone.
When I moved into my current house I had the bath taps replaced to ones I could turn on and off with my toes so I could keep topping up with hot water until I reached prune-like status

Starlight2345 · 20/09/2017 14:44

I usually chat to my DS who is guaranteed to need the loo the second I lie back...

I also though just close my eyes and try and relax..It is a good skill to practise...I spent hours in there as a teen.. now it is more of a chore

Blackcatonthesofa · 20/09/2017 14:45

Relax, read, watch netflix (ipad on a stool next to the bath), contemplate the meaning of my life and all the shitty mistakes I made to make it difficult.

weeblueberry · 20/09/2017 14:46

I hate shaving anything in the bath because it means tiny bits of hair are floating around in my calm water.

Also was it a Lush bath bomb? I'm curious which one. Grin

I personally mainly hide from the kids during day time baths or read/fanny around on Mumsnet/buy crap on Etsy I don't really need when I'm in the bath. I'm a bit of a Lush addict too so generally there's a lot of product involved in my bath Grin

abitoflight · 20/09/2017 14:47

Drama on radio iplayer
Not having anyone talking to me - I lock door - it's bliss
I might let dog in but def no humans!

cjt110 · 20/09/2017 14:48

I have my earphones in and ignore the cries from husband and child downstairs listen to my music

Ceto · 20/09/2017 14:48

If you don't want to risk a book getting wet, why are you risking your phone?

Redpriestandmozart · 20/09/2017 14:48

I float, bit deep bath, lie back and float, from I was a kid I did this but used to slide up and down and create waves, soaked the floor but I refrain from that now :)

Doobigetta · 20/09/2017 14:48

I used to have this problem. Used to get really bored in the bath and wonder what all the fuss was about, until it occurred to me that they aren't mandatory and I could just stop bothering. What I don't understand is that all the things people are suggesting- read, drink wine, watch tv- can be done far more conveniently and comfortably on the sofa, without the faff of running the bath and keeping it hot. Seriously, what's the point?

Whiskeywithwater · 20/09/2017 14:50

We have an in-built TV in the bathroom ... I watch back to back episodes of Come Dine With Me ... that's a good couple of hours done, & several hot water top ups..

pigeondujour · 20/09/2017 14:51

Personally, if I'm in the bath it's usually to ease cystitis symptoms.

MerryMarigold · 20/09/2017 14:52

Good question. I tend to think with a wet flannel on my face. I also top up the hot water multiple times. Go under water and blow bubbles for a bit. Maybe try and sing a tune under water. Rearrange my pubes into hairstyles. So much to do really.

diddl · 20/09/2017 14:56

I'm a fellow shortarse & don't enjoy baths.

It's the strain of keeping toes stretched out to prevent slipping underGrin

Lovemusic33 · 20/09/2017 14:56

we have a built in to n the bathroom Shock, slightly jealous, if I had a to in the bathroom I would spend even longer in the bath, I already spend ages in there, usually chilling out and chatting on MN or FB.
