What the hell do you do in the bath?!

I'm sat here, have been for around 10 mins, in the bath and I'm BORED!!

I've just moved into a new house and this is the first place I've lived with a bath for years so I've forgotten how to do it.

I lit some candles (they do that on the telly), I tried reading but my book got wet, I watched the bathbomb fizz around for a bit... now what? Do I just lay here and try to forget the world?

I hate baths. They are boring. Either my boobs or my knees get cold as they both can't fit under the water at the same time (smallish bath in our house). Falling asleep is something I wouldn't risk as I don't want to risk drowning. If I light candles I'm paranoid something will catch fire. My skin hates things like bath bombs / bubbles etc so I could only have a plain water bath.

If you take a book it will get wet (wet hands turning pages). iPad/ phones etc don't generally like water / steam/ moisture so are not ideal for a bathroom environment. You can nullify your iPad/ phone warranty for any faults as it shows 'water damage' from the steam (even if you never got it wet). Drinking wine - wet hands and slippy glass are once again not a good mix in my head.

All that said I do occasionally have an Epsom salt bath for aches and pains and to do a bit of a detox. I feel great afterwards but hate the actual bathing bit.

Baths are kind of like sunbathing on a beach for me. Fine for the first 10 minutes then I start to get bored / too hot/ uncomfortable and want to get up do something. I find having a little rest on the couch or my bed much more relaxing.

I have a whirlpool bath so I enjoy a personal jacuzzi Smile

Bowednotbroken · 21/09/2017 23:02

I miss baths 😒 Very bad knees and too fat so can't get in and out. 11 years and counting!

Graphista · 21/09/2017 23:05

thanksfor - geez live a little! I have OCD and even I don't think that much.

Re adult toys, if you get a waterproof wand you'll never LEAVE the bath Grin

DarthMaiden · 21/09/2017 23:08

Relax.

I have a jacuzzi bath and I could quite happily wallow in it for an hour being pummelled by water jets and bubbles Grin

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 21/09/2017 23:09

I watch telly, we have a tv built into the wall, it’s the only time I can get peace and quiet, currently watching Bir Aşk Hikayesi (Turkish) and loving it.

Get in bath, decide it's too hot, flap around and jump out whilst adding more cold water. Get back in then decide after 5 minutes it now too cold so turn the hot tap back on. Fill bath about a centimetre from the brim and lay back in the now once again red hot water that is now probably hotter than when I first got in! Lay back and relax for a bit and then wake up about 2-3 hours later in a freezing cold bath!! Sometimes I might read for 15-20 mins, wash my hair and whilst letting the water out do the final rinse under the shower. There is odd times when I've had to either stand under a cold shower or depending on how faint I feel get out and lay on the floor! It's probably through sheer luck I haven't actually drowned yet in the bath! My partner has hour long showers! I tried it and I was bored stupid!! All the envisioning in the world of tropical rain forrests and various other things could not make an hour in the shower any better ha ha!!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/09/2017 23:25

I get in.
Get bored.
Get out again.

I can't understand how people can spend so long in the bath! I don't find it relaxing. If the bathroom wasn't so cramped I'd replace it in a flash with a walk in shower cubicle.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/09/2017 23:26

I shower really quickly too.

The DDs love a long, long shower. I don't get it. If you're now clean, get out and mnet do something else!

Hi

Ive never been able to sit and relax in a bath, no idea why. I have the intention of doing so, get the candles, bit of music etc, I'm in there 10 minutes and get bored.

No advice from me I'm afraid.... sorry

Maireadplastic · 22/09/2017 17:13

I remember Aggie and whatshername tackling a jacuzzi bath on 'How clean is your house?'. Not pleasant.

squooz · 22/09/2017 17:42

I get clean and then I get out. Is that odd then?
Grin this made me chortle Insomniac

Mommy03 · 22/09/2017 17:48

Carriecakes80 · 22/09/2017 18:03

With my bath pillow, my bath tray thats older than me, I take a beer, a sandwich, my book, and with loads of hot water top ups I can be in the bath for hours lol.
I never take the tablet in the bathroom, books are much more relaxing! lol if they get wet, they dry out!

Shona52 · 22/09/2017 18:21

Mmmm nothing better then to soak an hour or two away in a hot bath 🛀 with a glass of wine 🍷 ,low lighting and music 🎶

I running the bath just as soon as my LO is in bed 😂

user1483875094 · 22/09/2017 18:22

ha ha...this made me laugh so much... I too, just don't "get it"! - my daughter, when she visits from her little tiny place in London can't WAIT to get in the bath and luxuriate... I ... just get bored to death after everything has been washed! Just don't get it! Would rather be curled up on the sofa in my fresh p.j.'s "post" wash ... enjoying a good drama series or something with a nice big cup of tea!

Shakey15000 · 22/09/2017 18:50

You need Encore radio in your life Smile

Sing musical songs at the top of my voice, tons of hot water, good body scrub, glass of wine and I'm as happy as Larry.

Shockers · 22/09/2017 18:53

I rarely have a bath, but when I do I usually fall asleep.

simiisme · 22/09/2017 18:55

Ooh.....Relax. Soak in the strongly-scented bath bomb loveliness. Read a book. Have a face mask.
But, most of all, relaaaaaax...

PuppyMonkey · 22/09/2017 19:01

I'm also in the "get bored" camp. I quite like the thought of a long soak but then I get in and remember "oh yeah, this is really tedious." Confused

If I want to read a book, I'll snuggle in front of the fire or go to bed rather than lie on a hard slippy surface while the bath water goes all cold and horrible.

manglethedangle · 22/09/2017 19:08

Watch Netflix on the laptop and mumsnet on my phone usually. Occasionally I read.
