What the hell do you do in the bath?!

I'm sat here, have been for around 10 mins, in the bath and I'm BORED!!

I've just moved into a new house and this is the first place I've lived with a bath for years so I've forgotten how to do it.

I lit some candles (they do that on the telly), I tried reading but my book got wet, I watched the bathbomb fizz around for a bit... now what? Do I just lay here and try to forget the world?

Read a book or a magazine and normally have a cup of tea or a glass of wine. Am about to go for a long soak with a g&t!

flumpybear · 20/09/2017 17:51

Deux You clearly come from my school of thought - but you're way ahead of me .... I'm gonna Amazon that shit now .... from said bath Hmm

Ohb0llocks · 20/09/2017 18:10

Read my phone.

I do the same in the shower.

Tilapia · 20/09/2017 18:13

I love this thread. It makes me feel relaxed just reading it Smile

Although a couple of the posts have reminded me of my least relaxing bath ever, which was the one I shared with two small DC and a large bump.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 20/09/2017 18:15

Ohb0llocks

How on earth do you read your phone in the shower? And why would You? Confused

Mayhemmumma · 20/09/2017 18:16

How does one read their phone in a shower? I am concerned to read about all this electrical usage around water....put the gadgets away! Although audio book does sound rather fabulous.

ProfessorCat · 20/09/2017 18:19

I wash, shave and grate my feet, then I turn the shower on to wash hair and rinse and get out.

I've never understood reading/eating/watching TV in the bath. It's uncomfortable and my boobs get cold. I'd much rather do all that after my bath when I'm cuddled up in warm, clean pjs.

balsamicbarbara · 20/09/2017 18:40

Some phones are fine in the shower. Samsung did an advert all about this feature of their S8 even. Not that I see the point as I'm using my hands to get clean and not just standing there like a lemon..

fourquenelles · 20/09/2017 18:43

See how far down the back of my legs I can get a fart bubble before it breaks surface.

Ttbb · 20/09/2017 18:44

Pretend that I single and childless and don't have a mountain of stuff that needs doing.

Ttbb · 20/09/2017 18:44

Oh, also I sit in there to stay warm while I wait to be able to wash off my face mask.

demirose87 · 20/09/2017 18:46

Read a book or magazine and sometimes get my partner in with me with some candles.

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 20/09/2017 18:48

I love this thread. I hate baths. All the getting the temperature right then having to haul yourself out into the cold.

And the anxiety about getting your phone wet.

Not relaxing at all.

Deux · 20/09/2017 18:48

@Flumpy. Grin The waterproof tablet bag/sleeve is brilliant. It's by Aqua-pac. DH bought it for me for holidays but I've used it more in the bath. It's very robust and certainly works. I buy Epsom salts in bulk from amazon as I like a good couple of mugfulls in there. Enjoy.

andpeggy29 · 20/09/2017 18:49

Judge stupid posts/people on Mumsnet,
Pinterest my dream house,
research burning questions like why is a lemon sole called that.
Drink red wine,
Put a face mask on,
Enjoy steaming up my bathroom n pretending I'm in a sauna
Have a nap (I'm big enough to do this and not drown)
Masturbate?

All the really important things in life GrinWineGin

Once a week I wait til the kids are asleep and run a really hot bath and put a face pack on. Then just lay there in the peace and quiet. Bliss.

Other times in and out with 'mum' being shouted.

LakieLady · 20/09/2017 18:58

Read. For a very long time. With hot water top-ups.

Me too. My record is nearly 8 hours (it was a very good book).

I also enjoy a bath with wine. candles and soothing music after a stressful day. Nothing relaxes me as much as that.

The bath at this house is a bit on the short side. I can't get my tits and my knees under the water at the same time, which rather spoils things. When we re-do the bathroom, I'm getting a bigger bath.

MaidOfStars · 20/09/2017 19:00
  1. Lean back and relax, fnarr fnarr (see Number )
  2. Continually top up hot water in elegant display of toe/tap/plug dexterity.
  3. Drink gin.
  4. Read book.
  5. Drink more gin.
  6. Turn sideways with legs hanging over side; shampoo hair with book stuck to thighs by power of warm damp skin alone.
  7. Just another sip of gin.
  8. Full in to rinse hair.
  9. Sideways Legs for conditioner.
10. Wash face. 11. Nearly drop gin as I remember that I can't wash my face and drink gin at the same time. 12. Full in to rinse hair. 13. Float about a bit. Strike sexy Hollywood starlet poses and imagine sending photos of them to my husband. 14. Masturbate (occasionally; not a set rule here). 15. Crunch ice cubes and suck lime. 16. Get out. 17. Remember I haven't actually washed myself. 18. Figure an hour in boiling hot water has basically autoclaved me.

Done.

Ohb0llocks · 20/09/2017 19:04

@ZeroFuchsGiven I sit down, and have the shower on my back!

clumsyduck · 20/09/2017 19:07

I always look forward to a bath as normally shower .

I enjoy been all warm and relaxed for about 2 minutes then I'm bored , to hot , get washed and out

I'm shit at baths

AllToadsLeadToHome · 20/09/2017 19:11

I wash my hair, soak, exfoliate, shave legs etc. soak some more, rinse hair with shower while letting water out, rinse the rest of me to remove soap etc. Sometimes I soak until I wrinkle if I am tired or achey.

I can't do the candles and wine stuff, it seems a bit odd to sit in the dark in a bath of water. I prefer the lights on an the extractor fan whirring away gently.

2017SoFarSoGood · 20/09/2017 19:30

I so envy all of you who love a bath. It looks great in pictures, but the reality, not so much. First, you have to get in. Lowering yourself in is not so much fun (I'm fat and not so very athletic) and then if it is actually hot enough to feel good you have to say oyahoyahouchover and over for a minute or two. Then you...

What? Sit there. Watching your bits get all red like you imagine a lobster coming to the boil would look. Your fingertips get all wrinkled which feels gross. Your hair all limp and frizzy. AND to top it all off you have to shower to get clean after you've stewed in your own filth. Not to mention cleaning said bath after use.

Perhaps not for me. Or maybe I"m doing it wrong Grin

MiriAmmerman · 20/09/2017 19:32

I can't really be doing with baths. I find I'm too hot initially, then it goes cool and I don't want to get out because I'm freezing.
I prefer to have a quick shower, then put lovely pyjamas on and read/use the iPad in bed.

MuddlingThroughLife · 20/09/2017 19:47

I either read or watch Netflix. I love a bath 💛 🎗
