Or rather the parents that chose it?

Overheard in the local shop a young girl (8ish) telling her friend that her new baby brother is being called....Kaiser. She wasnt joking.

One of my aunties is called Astrid. It took me a long time before I realised her name was in fact Astrid, and not Ostrich.

She was known as 'aunty ostrich' for many years Grin

I cringe at all sorts of names from both ends of the social spectrum.

My least favourite names have to be Jayden and Oscar...I cringe when I hear them.

Fekko · 18/09/2017 20:44

I knew 2 sisters called Miwanda and Webecca. Sadly neither could pronounce the names. I hope they grew out of it.

Flozle · 18/09/2017 20:54

We had a Khaleesi last week

We've just been wondering how long before the Denerys and Tyrians would be popping out: question answered! Thanks Belinda Smile

manicmij · 18/09/2017 20:55

Kaiser Bill comes to mind. Dreadful.

Fekko · 18/09/2017 20:55

It is made up isn't it? I'm waiting for a smarty pants to come along and scold us for laughing at Khaleesi (ancient Egyptian name for the god of cat poo or something).

Dustbunny1900 · 18/09/2017 20:58

Jayden is certainly not a culturally diverse name (here anyways) but I agree with others being slightly mean about names more common among poc especially female..white boys love making fun of "tanisha" and "laquanda"

Mycatsaninja · 18/09/2017 21:00

I know of a child called Neveah !
Sort backwards it's......HEAVEN !!! Beat that ...lol

Mycatsaninja · 18/09/2017 21:01

Oops ! I meant Nevaeh !!

HoneyIshrunktheBiscuit · 18/09/2017 21:02

Neveahs pretty common

NearLifeExperience · 18/09/2017 21:20

I heard myself being talked about at a English Heritage property when I called DD1 "Rainbow Dash"

I know a real life, grown up Rainbow! She's lovely. Her siblings all have quite boring names.
I know a little "Really icky" which I'm not a fan of.

I quite like Kaiser; it sounds... strong

NearLifeExperience · 18/09/2017 21:21

*Rocky, not "Really icky" FFS. No one would call their kid that!

SalamiSandwich · 18/09/2017 21:27

I'm not a fan of the game of throne names, it just reminds me of all the Kylie's that exist now. Naming your baby after a tv programme just dates really badly.

Guy at work has changed his name to Spida. Must've been bad before. He was in his early 40's when he changed it

Yes, it really is THAT bad!

SunshineLollipopsRainbows25 · 18/09/2017 21:33

Kaiser is Janelle off teen moms kids name maybe it's off that.

JonSnowsWhore · 18/09/2017 21:34

I really cringe at the Harley/Logan/Roman boys names and don't like the Lily-Rose/Ellie-Rose/Lily-May girls names. They just feel a bit... common (hides face)

Well that took longer than I thought. 'Common' people welcome this way, let's leave the posh folk to it

NearLifeExperience · 18/09/2017 21:35

I rather like Harley, Logan and, especially, Roman!

JonSnowsWhore · 18/09/2017 21:38

Me & my friend have a Harley & a Logan between us, and someone I went to school with has a Roman. I guess we know where we stand 🙄

NearLifeExperience · 18/09/2017 21:44

Good names all, JonSnow

People can be such (s)nobs

GreatFuckability · 18/09/2017 23:01

Tyrion is actually a welsh name, I know of at least 3. its not pronounced as it is in the show though. Same for Tywin/Tywyn.

Blinkedandmissedlastyear · 18/09/2017 23:27

My great great aunty was called Minnie (I don't think it was short for anything) my younger brothers were convinced that she was called Aunty Minute. She signed all of her birthday and Christmas cards love from Aunty Minute.
I can't imagine anyone being called Minnie now, but she was the youngest of 14, so they were probably running out of names by then and she was born before the Disney mouse.

Fekko · 18/09/2017 23:38

Minnie driver?
