Obviously other party food but some halal/kosher/vegetarian/vegan etc required is just doing strawberry jam acceptable or will I be the talk of school for nothing more?

@WorraLiberty Wink it's tempting... it really is

i hate jam sandwiches and therefore wouldn't serve them as they're not my thing, BUT I'd never slate someone who does... You're good enough to make food for others, if anyone says something negative they're ungrateful little chits, so no YANBU!

applauds MrsDustyBusty

OP - have you considered blinis? My children loved them sprinkled with caviar

eBaydrama · 16/09/2017 17:04

@Ginslinger showing my peasantry but I had to google what blinis were!

Would simple pancakes with caviar be ok?

Will it be Waitrose jam?

I hope you are going to have a range of jams and jellies on offer? Tastefully arranged in a wicker basket, of course.

Lelloteddy · 16/09/2017 18:27

OP you're missing a trick. The Tesco Value 'mixed fruit' jam will add a certain frisson of excitement to the proceedings. Could be anything in it.....

Basecamp21 · 16/09/2017 18:28

Wow you live and learn.....i have not been to a kids party that bothered with any sandwiches for a while....noone ever eats them....i went to one that had sausage rolls crisps and sweet stuff ....smallest amount of waste I had seen.

LadyTsunade · 16/09/2017 18:31

Hellywelly10 · 16/09/2017 19:48

I used to do cheese and ham sandwiches and give them out first or there not eaten. Veg sticks are very cheap. Not all kids are keen on humas. Haven't had a jam sandwich since the early 80's.

PumbletonWakeshaft · 16/09/2017 22:19

Lol @hellywelly10 I just read that as not all kids are keen on humans

I may have snotted when I laughed then!!! Blush

Zhx3 · 16/09/2017 23:41

The jam sandwiches would be very popular with my dc, OP! And I wouldn't judge you either, I appreciate parties are a lot of work for the parent!

I used to worry about the amount of food left over at my dc parties (always the sandwiches and they take ages to make!), nowadays I find if I do oven food (nuggets, fries, cheese and tomato pizza), with a few plates of carrot, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and grapes, the whole lot tends to be eaten.

Hope your dc has a great party.

potatoscowls · 16/09/2017 23:49

just cook up a big bag of tesco vegan sausage rolls, do some cucumber carrot etc and hummus, hula hoops, party rings, grapes, jam sarnies. easiest to make everything vegan as then it's also suitable for kosher/halal/veggie

potatoscowls · 16/09/2017 23:50

nuggets are a brilliant idea Zhx3. cook up some quorn vegan nuggets (double check they're the vegan ones as they also make nonvegan ones)

kateandme · 17/09/2017 00:10

Send the party.let us no how it went.

Zhx3 · 17/09/2017 15:26

I like the Quorn chicken style nuggets, my dc didn't realise they weren't real chicken till I told them!

Fekko · 17/09/2017 15:30

The Tival ones are nice too.

JinnyTheWitch · 17/09/2017 15:38

Quinoa and lentil nuggets in little pitta pockets with a drizzle of Reddit tittletattle juice might be lovely

Aridane · 30/09/2017 14:33

How did the party go, OP?

eBaydrama · 30/09/2017 14:53

It's this afternoon! Will update tomorrow Grin
