Update - missed Grammar School application

sososocross · 13/09/2017 11:45

So many people have kindly sent pm and a couple of update threads have been started so I wanted to update.

Firstly I really want to thank you all for your help and kindness. I was in a state and without you all I would have lost the plot. You women rule 🏅

Update: They are not letting him do the test and I have told DS. I made the choice to tell him in a vague way and simply stated that something had gone wrong and his application had not been received. I will not lie to him if he asks for more details at a later date, but I couldn't take away his chosen school and his image of his dad in one cruel swoop.

He cried and asked me to sort it out, and I told him I had tried and couldn't. I told him my alternate plans and he relaxed. I also told him I would be coming home early 2x per week from here on, and we would work together on homework, extra study or whatever he chose. If he wants to register for the 12 or 13 plus I will do all I can to assist him. Then we watched guardians of the galaxy and had big cuddle up on the sofa.

So that's where we are.

I am sorry to those I irritated by deleting the thread, I was very worried about the daily mail and any come back. I hope you understand I was having a crisis and listed inappropriate details which could identify my son on the thread.

Please don't mention school details on this thread as I'd rather it all remain anonymous for his sake.

Thanks again for all the kindness, it meant the world to me.

soso..there is a very good thread on ' the sentence that ended the relationship'...wonder if yours might be

soso: ' you did do the school form didnt you '
mrsoso: 'yep'

funny how such a little word is used for such an enormous lie

Maria1982 · 13/09/2017 21:38

sosocross that article made my blood boil! Ignore it, it's below you. Wilfully misinterpreting the original thread in spirit and in word! Really. It made me very very cross - like your username Grin

PS we have been to Relate for couples counselling- they charge on a sliding scale according to your income , so can be v affordable (and at the upper end those on high income are helping Relate offer low or no cost counselling to those who can't afford it).
I really rate Relate. That is not in any way to minimise the enormity of what your husband has done. And if you can, maybe tell him to back off with his current pathetic soup making and etc efforts. Tell him to stop making it about him!! (Sorry. I would, but I'm v blunt , and cross. Ignore and do what you think best for you of course)

sososocross · 13/09/2017 21:42

Jelly - I was literally just thinking that!

Maria - we tried relate - I wrote about it upthread, but it didn't work. Thanks for your advice thou.

I've reported the link, I'm so thick not thinking of giving them satisfaction by giving it traffic! Angry

That article is appalling.

@FlorenceFosterJenkins rocks

As does sososo

PoorYorick · 13/09/2017 21:46

OP, ignore that hateful, cherrypicked, intellectually dishonest tripe as much as its mouth breathing author has ignored the endless threads on here from victims of rape, assault and abuse in all forms. He's a pillock and you have more important things to worry about than a pillock.

pennysnow · 13/09/2017 21:46

Someone on here has started a thread now! Giving that article more publicity!

Not much point in deleting the link from here now!

EamonnWright · 13/09/2017 21:57

You people genuinely can't see what the problem is can you?

follybodger · 13/09/2017 22:04

I feel for your DS over this and how hard he worked.

I really hope he loves whatever school he goes to and is happy

Your DH however is very lucky you have been so restrained. I'm very sure in your shoes I'd have not been so calm

dowagercountess · 13/09/2017 22:24

Thank you for updating - I tried to find the original post earlier.
Sorry you didn't manage to get DS into the test but glad you have a contingency plan.
Your work with your DS made me smile, you sound like a fab Mum.

Ignore the article. If anyone you know reads that website at least you know to never speak to them again.

pennysnow · 13/09/2017 22:36

You people genuinely can't see what the problem is can you?

Enlighten us, do @EamonnWright. Wink

What is genuinely the 'problem?'

FizzyGreenWater · 13/09/2017 22:57

Eamonn The Floating Head has come among us.

WellWhoKnew · 13/09/2017 23:15

Brace yourselves ladies, a man's arrived to tell us the genuine problem....

EamonnWright · 13/09/2017 23:18

I'm not here to tell anyone anything.

Why would I?

pennysnow · 14/09/2017 00:04

Why WOULDN'T you tell us all your wonderful words of wisdom 'Eamonn?' I mean we are clearly all so clueless as to what the problem is, and we cannot see it.

So please do tell us. I mean, you are a man, and you know more than us silly air-headed little wimmin.

So PLEASE do tell us..........

WHAT is the problem? @EamonnWright?

You said we can't see the problem, so please tell us, I am begging you.

I need to know.

As a mere FEMALE, I don't know you see. Sad

peekyboo · 14/09/2017 00:27

Don't be silly penny, there's no point explaining when we're not going to understand.

ghost48 · 14/09/2017 00:41

I have watched this thread/post(s) with much interest over the last few days the comments/advice etc have on the whole been very helpful, with a few exceptions(i think you know who you are) My own take on the subject is that her husband lied to her on a subject that was deeply important to her and their son,and when discovered, some what to late to rectify it, washed his hands of the problem and left his wife to try her up most to sort it out and comfort their son at the same time.does that sum it up ? either way you get the picture of a very extraordinary woman,a child who knows without any doubt his mum loves him and will all ways be there and do her best for him and a father/husband/man who is really neither. How wonderful and sad at the same time ..........................

Fluffysparks · 14/09/2017 07:02

Sounds like our new friend EammonWright has made an account specially to enlighten us after reading that little article Wink

GeekyWombat · 14/09/2017 07:09

I'm so sorry this has happened Soso, just when you think the dust has settled and you can start moving forward. Ugh. I'm somewhat agog at the nasty tone of that entire site - I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that so many of the articles are written by men!

I really hope you're not giving this any mental or emotional space at the moment. You've got more than enough going on with continuing to ensure your DC are doing ok and looking after your own emotions / coping with the drama of DH.

How's your DS doing? Has it sunk in yet? Sending you all good thoughts (and recommending the second Guardians of the Galaxy for him if he's not seen it yet!).

IdaDown · 14/09/2017 07:34

You have grown up, he has not.

22yrs - read the sunk costs fallacy. People change. No shame in that.

Maria1982 · 14/09/2017 08:01

soso Sorry, I had read that you'd tried Relate, but then forgot before writing!

Butterymuffin · 14/09/2017 08:16

I'm getting a 404 for that article so it looks as if it's been taken down at least for now.

soso your DS is a superstar and will do well wherever he goes. The DH question is a very difficult one. I must say I'd find the constant texting now irritating - he would do better by reminding me of his presence less often.

ComputerUserNotTrained · 14/09/2017 09:15

I think I understand why you're not pursuing this further op, but the fact other children have also fallen foul of this arbitrary deadline makes the whole admissions situation worse, imo. Their system is failing children - it's outrageous.

sososocross · 14/09/2017 09:20

I'm glad it's been removed. What utter twats people are.

Had a really long talk with DH last night. I'm just exhausted.
