College and Pubic Hair

My DSister (16) has just started a beauty therapy course in college.

Yesterday she was told by a tutor that everyone is to grow their pubic hair (vagina) so they can practice waxing on each other and develop and understanding of how clients feel.

My DS and most of the other girls are horrified by this and don't want to do it. AIBU to be horrified at this demand? Surely the college can't enforce this on the girls?!

Hmm

What DO her posts mean?

Foxtrot92 · 08/09/2017 18:30

It's your thread OP, simply too exciting to type slowly

Where's the full stop? 😱

Op when you sign up to a beauty therapy course, you are told you will be practising everything on each other. You can't go straight into having 'clients' to train on.

I've done all my beauty therapy and have to have and practice plenty of waxing. You do NOT need to take pants off for a wax, and she will NOT be doing a Hollywood wax, you do a separate waxing course for that.

If she's this bad about waxing, advise her not to sign up to extra courses.

OP seems really interested in 16 year old's pubesEnvy

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 08/09/2017 18:32

WHICH BIT OF THIS POST DO POSTERS THINK ARE UNTRUE?
That they've asked them to grow their public hair?

This was standard practice on my beauty course 24 years ago. My friend is beauty therapy tutor these days and it's still standard practice.

When I did my level 2 if no-one was willing to get their bikini lines waxed then the tutor would have one of the other tutors or level 3 students come in and you would have to do it on one of them. Believe me, it is far easier to do a training wax on your mate than on your tutor or a girl/woman you don't know!

I hope this thread doesn't get deleted actually. It's hilarious Grin

lilwayneslisp · 08/09/2017 18:36

Would love getting my Hollywood done for free.. can I join the course?

FizzyGreenWater · 08/09/2017 18:37

They're all growing their public hair quite happily, it's the personal hair that's the issue :)

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 08/09/2017 18:40

OP By the way, there is no way she will be doing intimate waxing in her first year. Beauty therapy is in 3 levels, bog standard bikini wax in level 2 normally. They may offer intimate in her second year (level 3) but it usually has to be done as a separate course. She's either got the wrong end of the stick, or if she's adamant they are doing Hollwoods in the first year, within a week of them starting, the college need to be contacted about the curriculum.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 08/09/2017 18:51

Hello gang,
We've made some deletions here - nothing too dramatic, just a bit of tidying up.
Peace and love and all that.

FerretsAreFeminists · 08/09/2017 18:53

just a bit of tidying up.

I would refuse and I already have a full bush so wouldn't red to put in any effort. Surely they can get volunteers for this just like hair cuts.

FizzyGreenWater · 08/09/2017 18:54

Oh! OP I didn't ask for your rudies to be deleted btw.

I thought we'd got past it all quite happily

and yet there you are with your posting history lopped off at odd points, like a first year student's Hollywood.

Op when you sign up to a beauty therapy course, you are told you will be practising everything on each other. You can't go straight into having 'clients' to train on.

So I won't be able to ever become a beauty ... therapist? (Why is this called therapy, it makes no sense!)
I like to keep my pubic hair intact, for health reasons. Would definitely not fancy getting it ripped out with wax.
I think it is quite unfair that this profession is therefore inaccessible for me. I mean, men are allowed to become gynecologists, they definitely can't practise pap smears on each other!

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 08/09/2017 18:56

what? Wink

barefoofdoctor · 08/09/2017 19:00

Slight diversion but is there anything more delightfully satisfying than finding a post wax ingrown pube and outing the little bastard? The longer the pube the more satisfying.

FallingOrbit · 08/09/2017 19:03

How the big dangly ballsack has OP not been banned?! Not that I want her to be! I'm just going by what happened to my first account on MN! Never had a single post deleted, I said one thing which was considered out of place and was instabanned!

You're doing well OP!

FizzyGreenWater · 08/09/2017 19:06

FallingOrbit this is where you come in and advise on the correct use of chainsaws when removing unwanted topiary.

tomatopuree · 08/09/2017 19:08

Jeeeeeze. I'm a student nurse and we are learning catheterisation next week. Thankfully not on each other!

barefoofdoctor · 08/09/2017 19:10

Summer has been such a washout this year that my growler still has it's winter coat. Hopefully DS won't be confronted with something similar on her first day, she won't know whether to wax it of offer it a saucer of milk.

FallingOrbit · 08/09/2017 19:10

Ha! I did think about making a few jokes but decided against it!
