To think people get as much pleasure out of washing as I do?

Just down to choosing fabric softener, it's a joyous experience! Putting the smelly stuff in, getting the clean stuff out. It's just wonderful.

Purple bold - swear by it. No fabric softener needed Smile

WafflyVersatile1 · 02/09/2017 18:07

What is the name of the French powder?

LaurieFairyCake · 02/09/2017 18:12

I have never once bought fabric softener. Or those dryer sheets.

Gingernaut · 02/09/2017 18:16

DameDoom - Dancingyou are one classy lady. My pegs stay on the line and are a bit manky and covered in spider eggs.

You mean

You mean

You mean

Your pegs get darked on!!?

With the spider willies and the moth spittle and and and and.....😨

I like washing. I have to dry indoors with a dehumidifier.

Once in a while, I buy a charity shop item that's absolutely disgusting.

I love 'rescuing' these items; washing them, combing out dirty matted fake fur, repairs, new buttons, patches and so on.

They are experiments. If they survive washing, fine; if they fall apart in the wash, then I've got clean rags for the charity bag and I've donated to a worthwhile cause.

Sad. I know. Blush

HelloSquirrels · 02/09/2017 18:29

Love it. Nothing better than an empty wash basket and everything hung on the line to dry. Smells amazing.

However, I hate putting everything away.

Eolian · 02/09/2017 18:35

Huh?! I like clean, washed clothes. I hate doing laundry. It is tedious and time-consuming. I would like my clean laundry even more if somebody else did it. Same applies to all housework.

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 02/09/2017 18:35

I actually enjoy washing by hand as well as using the machine. My mother says I was a laundry maid in a past life.Hmm

GinUser · 02/09/2017 18:38

I like doing the washing, but I love doing the ironing even more. Very satisfying and beautifully warming on a cold day.

qumquat · 02/09/2017 18:51

I can comfortably say I get no pleasure out of doing laundry. But then I've never used fabric softener, maybe that's where I'm going wrong.

LespritDescalier · 02/09/2017 18:55

I wish some of you laundry lovers would do mine. I do like the smell but I loathe the job. It's just so fucking endless.
And I suck at it. How do people keep the school shirts white? I think they secretly throe them away every few weeks and buy new ones.

WafflyVersatile1 · 02/09/2017 19:16

I don't like any other type of housework or putting washing away. Only gardening and washing.

HelloSquirrels · 02/09/2017 19:26

lesprit I said I liked doing it I didn't say I was any good Wink my shirts are not as white as I would like them to be... sigh.

Hanging them in the sun helps and I use bio powder, a tip from mumsnet that one i always used non bio before as we have a baby. Apparently it's not as bad as we have been made to believe so I use it now and np skin problems.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/09/2017 19:34

I have a huge Brabantia washing whirly thing (its well over 12 yo had to be restrung bu I couldn't replace it because it has a handle to twirl and raise/lower. Not just push up like a brollley)

And a Miele washing machine

I feel as if I have found my people!

I LOVE laundry day and am always disappointed when I reach the bottom of the basket. Surf Herbal Extracts and white Comfort, here. Line drying is just wonderful and I am so saddened when the line drying season comes to an end.

Ironing is the devil's work. I probably pull the iron out twice a year. I also am not a fan of putting said clean laundry away.

It has taken four years for DP to take note of how to properly hang clothes on the line. This summer I had a "by Jove, he's done it!" moment.

WafflyVersatile1 · 02/09/2017 19:58

Lesprit. I only wash white shirts with other white stuff. I spray stains with stain remover and do a prewash instead of soaking. I use powder stain remover with the detergent.

user1497997754 · 02/09/2017 19:59

I love doing the washing and do a load everyday....I have 2 dogs and have leather sofas with throws on do they get washed every other day....also dogs sleep on the bed so new bed linen on every other day. I hate housework ep cleaning the shower cubicle....but washing I could do all the time I love the smell and enjoy seeing the washing drying on the line..and tumbling up my towels so they are all fluffy....I am such a saddo lol

stargirl1701 · 02/09/2017 20:00

No. I cannot bear the smell of fabric softener and it means more recycling which we try to keep to a minimum. Unscented laundry detergent here.

WafflyVersatile1 · 02/09/2017 20:04

Lesprit. PS. The prewash is only if there are stains that need soaking

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 02/09/2017 20:35

@WafflyVersatile1 I alternate between the ones below...

The last one was the one DP's mum was smitten with.

I hang the sheets on a dryer at the bottom of my stairwell Norge weekend and the smell wafts upstairs to the living room and bedrooms all day.

Super sad I am, I am.

Norge? Every.

yellowfrontdoor · 02/09/2017 20:41

I love laundry (surf herbal & comfort fresh ocean user here).

I love to see the washing all out on the line.
My DH does do his share, but I find his hanging out technique too maverick for my taste.

This love does not extend to other areas of household cleaning, however Grin

WafflyVersatile1 · 02/09/2017 20:44

Bet they are lovely Ineedmore

Nadinexo1 · 02/09/2017 20:51

I thought i was the only one who got up to look at my washing line randomly and smile fondly at it like a crazy person.
I love clean clothes I just absolutely hate ironing.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 02/09/2017 20:55

Just to point out, France is a 10 minute drive away...I don't get the ferry over for laundry products or 'owt.

I probably would though
