This pisses me off!! Just because this isn't classed as a "real" cigarette AIBU to be pissed off when vaping around my babies. Or in any private places such as restaurants, pubs etc.

Ive been to two weddings where a couple where even vaping in CHURCH!!!
And then my niece was making her 1st holy communion and the lady in front was vaping...

I have seen no clinical evidence to suggest its safe.So in the mean time id wish the minority who do it would piss off.

It looks bloody ridiculous too. Vapers obviously don't care about how stupid they look do they?

Sayyouwill · 03/09/2017 17:19

You could say the same about people who drink out of jamjars

Orangebird69 · 03/09/2017 17:19

Nope. Not one shiny shit. 🌬🌬🌬🌬🌬

OnlyGodKnowsWhy · 03/09/2017 17:36

I think most vapers would choose looking stupid over lung cancer any day. Time will tell, I imagine quite a lot of anti vapers will begin to change their views as the massive strain on the NHS caused by smoking related illnesses begins to drop.

As vaping has only really been prevalent in the last ten years and many smokers became addicted in their early to mid teen years, it is pretty sad that they are now treated with distaste over making a better life choice. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

In my line of work, I have seen asthmatics go from regular inhaler useage to minimal. People suffering with high blood pressure going to normal. People coming in store telling me how much healthier they feel, better hair and skin, not smelling of smoke. I've seen people with cancer still trying to fight nicotine addiction. People come out the other side of cancer and sticking with vaping.

Lots of opinions on here regarding vaping however it seems clear to me that quite a few have no idea about it and should really educate themselves (not by Facebook) before sending out opinions that could prevent someone from making a decision that could save their lives.

Sallystyle · 03/09/2017 19:06

To be fair. I am quite common I guess.

I'm not ashamed of that either.

I have no shits to give about how I look vaping. When my kids lost their dad to smoking I switched to vaping to lower the chances of them losing me too. How I look just isn't on my radar.

Sallystyle · 03/09/2017 19:07

Crap. Sorry. I meant to say they lost their dad to cancer. Not smoking.

We will never know if his smoking was a factor or not. Although he did quit when he got diagnosed.

FelicityFucknickle · 03/09/2017 19:56

Nobody who has criticised vaping has made any kind of remark suggesting that smoking would be in any way better, or would be, or look less stupid.

NotACleverName · 03/09/2017 20:00

Vaping is anti social and in the ma seems to be undertaken by common people

I wanna vape with common people like you

EddChinasVagina · 03/09/2017 20:34

I personally don't give a shit if I look stupid in the eyes of others, there's other reasons why people might think that anyway; my really common piercings, or the fact I have half my head shaved and a couple of tattoos. The sooner people learn to live and let live the better.

Ginmakesitallok · 03/09/2017 20:48

Given that smoking rates are highest in the most deprived populations it would be a very very good thing if "common" people vaped more.

Jux · 03/09/2017 20:50

I'm not common at all (though I 'married down' so I am more common than I was Wink ) and I think vaping's great. Love the flavours and choices it gives you; it's like joining a club!

I may look common, and I don't give a shiny little shit. Those who remark on such things are giving themselves away as parvenus.

Grin
FantasticButtocks · 03/09/2017 21:44

I'm quite posh not common, and I think the shallowness of minding about looking common is what is actually common GrinPosh people don't give a shit what others think of their appearance.

I think having it as an alternative to smoking is totally brilliant and revolutionary! Because some people don't want to give up smoking, but they feel they have to as its so bad for you. The fabulous invention of something you can do as a habit, something which gives you so much of what you get from smoking but without the harmful bits is just bloody genius, and it's going to save a lot of Zeppelin from very bad health problems.

Perhaps the objectors just don't want to understand.

FantasticButtocks · 03/09/2017 21:46

Zeppelin? Where did that come from? Think it was meant to say people

FruitCider · 03/09/2017 21:50

Well, here's some interesting facts for you...

The poor in society are likely to live farthest away from good schools, on account of all the homes next to outstanding schools being extortionately high in rental fees for the areas. Poorer children are likely to go to schools that are not good, meaning their level of education, and more importantly, health education is not as good

As well as an (health) education that is not as good, children in poverty experience more stressors in life, like being bullied for not having the latest trainers, not having enough to eat, not being able to go on the school trip.

This makes young people more desperate to fit in, so they are more susceptible to peer pressure.

One day at the age of 13, a year after their nan has died from lung cancer at the age of 65, someone offers this teen a cigarette, so they take it.

The lack of (health) education pushes this teen into further poverty as an adult due to the cost of cigarettes.

And then the cycle repeats itself...

So yes, I really do hope vaping becomes affordable to "common" people as the poorer you are, the more likely you are to smoke!

TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot · 03/09/2017 22:01

Someone was vaping in front of me at the cinema recently and I think that was anti social.

After the second time I got a face full of vapour I leaned over and said, "Excuse me that's getting right in my face." He said sorry and stopped.

Even if vaping doesn't harm anyone's health it still, if only briefly, affects the immediate environment in a way that can be unpleasant for other people. So while it's better than smoking I think that it should be banned in some places.

FantasticButtocks · 03/09/2017 22:28

Then, by that token, so should people with BO, or who are wearing unpleasant perfumes, aftershaves and body sprays which would be an excellent idea Grin

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 03/09/2017 22:45

You'd set off the smoke alarms where I work. Which would mean the evacuation of 500+ staff and huge charges from the fire brigade. You'd then be found (cameras in the area outside the toilets and that scent you'd have left behind) and the fire brigade costs deducted from your wages

😂😂😂😂😂😂

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 03/09/2017 22:48

I have an e Cig as opposed to a vape it's odour free and doesn't emit a puff of vapour

I had a few discreet puffs on the plane yesterday . So shoot me !

Jux · 04/09/2017 00:53

It's actually not hard to 'stealth vape', so I suggest that any vapers reading this thread learn how to do it (if they don't already) and then they can vape anywhere if they really need to.

EddChinasVagina · 04/09/2017 01:39

@Jux we can vape in most places anyway, and I feel like being a lot less stealthy now in the hopes that I'll be in the company of some of the stuck up objectors on this thread Grin

FruitCider · 04/09/2017 04:57

It can actually be quite hard to stealth vape if you have proper equipment and not one of those little pen things. It also depends on the coil and the vg/pg ratio of the liquid

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 04/09/2017 06:18

It's a pity because people will feel ashamed vaping if they're told it looks stupid.

Yes. Smoking looks stupid. At least vapers are using an alternative that's not as shit for them.

missfliss · 04/09/2017 07:01

I vape.

I have previously been a social smoker.

I don't vape indoors as I think it's a little inconsiderate in a confined space ( unless people say they don't mind).

I do vape at home, outside, in front of my child if having a glass of wine.

So shoot me.

I may look stupid. I don't care. I look better alive and tackling an addiction than I do suffering from COPD or lung cancer.

Nicotine isn't harmful, and I am honest with my child that smoking was the most stupid thing I ever did. Vaping is a way to help people not smoke.

Stop the vape hate folks, it will save countless lives and make smoking actual fags a very rare sight - de normalising it for our kids.
