Fish N Chips

Okay ... crazy one for you ... currently on holiday with my DP my DC and three DSC

Tonight we ordered our meals at a restaurant on site.. my meal, my son and one of the step children meal arrived, the others didn't. So immediately we asked where the other meals where and the restaurant apologised and said they had forgotten. They offered us free fish and chips from the site chippy which we accepted.
While we were waiting for the chips my son and two of the step children went back to eat the food from the restaurant.

My other DSC went back in a bit after to eat half of "my" meal with his sister, but she'd eaten all the double cheeseburger and chips. Anyway got back to the caravan and DSS who had nothing to eat joined us and the 3 of us tucked into fish & chips. Then the others arrived back after eating their meals, and asked for their fish & chips as well?!?! (First question, what would you do give them it?)

But then DSD said to DSS, save it till tomorrow as that's what we'd said to the others (bearing in mind they'd eaten already). Is that weird what DSS said? Is she trying to say it's fair? Wwyd???

I would have saved the curry sauce and brought the goat back and had curry goat.

Migraleve · 28/08/2017 17:55

After ready my it four times I now understand. Basically 6 meals were ordered from the restaurant and only three meals arrived. The restaurant offered fish and chips from their onsite chippy shop.

I thought this, but then I thought that 3 meals arrived and the fish and chips were given because 3 meals were missing. So if the 3 who went back to eat the restaurant meals didn't get fish and chips that means the 3 that ate restaurant meals costs also ate fish and chips.

Fuck it's like one of those impossible riddles

VanillaFrosties · 28/08/2017 18:01

Maybe OP has got botulism after eating fish that had been left out all night.... Confused

Bluntness100 · 28/08/2017 18:15

This is completely and utterly not understandable.

Op were you trying to save three portions of fish and chips for the next day, why would you possibly do this if the kids wanted to eat them? They were free. It wouldn't have impacted your holiday budget.

Or did you want to eat six portions between the three of you?

Happytobefree17 · 28/08/2017 18:25

Ok, so I read it as the OP had eaten half her double cheeseburger at the restaurant. Two children also ate half their meals at the restaurant.

When the offer of fish and chips was made to compensate for the kitchen forgetting the other 3 meals, they all went to get them.

Whilst waiting for the fish and chips, the two children with the meals at the restaurant went back to finish them.

The "greedy" one (I don't really think she's greedy but I think that's what the OP was suggesting) also went back and finished the OP's cheeseburger.

So at this point, 2 children have had a full meal each, one child had half a meal and one child had no meal at all.

The child who had not eaten at the restaurant ate fish and chips with the OP and OP's DH in the caravan.

The other 3 children asked for fish and chips too but were told they weren't allowed any as they had already eaten (although the "greedy" child had actually only had half a meal) and the "greedy" child complained that it wasn't fair since none of the other children weren't allowed any fish and chips, and told the child eating with his parents that he should save his fish and chips for tomorrow like the rest of the children.

The OP asked whether she was right to deny the other children F&C especially since the greedy child is also fat.

Did anyone else read it that way?

Bluntness100 · 28/08/2017 18:29

Did anyone else read it that way?

Honestly, I couldn't make head nor tail,of it, so you're miles ahead of me...

WritingHome · 28/08/2017 18:32

I have nothing much to contribute except to say I read this thread in work this morning and then met dh and dd at lunchtime and as a direct result of this thread I suggested fish & chips for lunch.

We sat in the car in the rain outside an excellent chippy and stuffed ourselves with battered haddock, chips with tons of salt and vinegar and mushy peas and it was DEEEEEEEELICIOUS!

And now I don't have to make dinner this evening.

Thank you OP Grin

ps. Happytobefree17 that is exactly how I understand it too...

Jg1 · 28/08/2017 18:33

I thought the OP had gone on a meth binge and name changed.

GrinGrinGrin

As I see it only 3 of the 6 restaurant meals arrived.

Credit (or possibly 'a nod' from restaurant manager) for 6 F&C were given so all 6 people went to the chippy.

3 kids decided that they wanted to eat the 3 restaurant meals (rather than go to waste? Because they fancied them more than F&C? Who knows?!)

So 3 kids eat the restaurant meal while OP, DH & 1 kid go home to eat F&C.

The 3 who ate the restaurant meals came back and 1 wanted F&C also.

OP said no because said child had already eaten in the restaurant, the 3 spare F&C must be kept for today.

The hungry one stopped 1 child (not a restaurant eater) from eating his F&C because if she's got to wait then he must too.

WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS;
Why didn't hungry child eat his F&C at the same time as OP & DH??

He was with them yes?

It's taken me half a bottle of the strong stuff to get my head around this!! Gin

hippyhippyshake · 28/08/2017 19:07

I still don't understand why op (an adult) didn't finish her meal in a sedately fashion instead of haring off to the chippie when DP, who , if I understand correctly, didn't have meal, could've done the honours and got the F&C with the two other poor starving mites.

Happytobefree17 · 28/08/2017 19:12

Jg1 - you are right. Ive reread the OP and the two meal-less children were going to eat the OP's double cheeseburger and chips. Now, what I REALLY want to know is whether the OP have eaten the burger with cutlery or with her hands but that would probably make it a TAAT Grin

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 28/08/2017 19:28

"It's kind of interesting to see that this Dionysiac impulse is, indeed, very similar to the effects of being pissed."

Exactly what I thought. Grin

TizzyDongue · 28/08/2017 19:28

Did the OP actually say she was saving the other three fish and chips? I've tried rereading but not found her saying it.

I'm highly suspicious it was actualy one of the chickens (that identify as a goat) that started the rumour; possibly to distract the fox.

stevie69 · 28/08/2017 19:33

Is the answer 42? Confused

TizzyDongue · 28/08/2017 19:38

Ah yes, that would make sense stevie69.

BLUESEAPARADISE · 28/08/2017 19:44

I am sorry but I am so confused and now craving fish and chips! 🙈

SOUTHerner84 · 28/08/2017 19:46

I don't know, really. I find this hard to follow

I think perhaps the staff in the restaurant did too

elephantoverthehill · 28/08/2017 19:48

If it is any help whatsoever, I've got one Dc left with me this week and we have just ordered a kebab.

TizzyDongue · 28/08/2017 19:51

Are the rest of your dc on the other side of the river with the grain elephantoverthehill?

QuackPorridgeBacon · 28/08/2017 19:51

I think I et it but op needs to clear a few things up before I can actually decide on what I think.

confused123456 · 28/08/2017 19:51

Jg1, thank you for making that clear. I was baffled by it all..

Okay- is this it?
You didn't allow the kids to have two meals that evening but your step daughter chose to not allow her brother who hadn't had one meal, his meal that evening to make it fair.
And you think this is due to a weight issue on her part?
Just tell her no she can't have two meals but her brother is allowed the fish and chips as he hadn't eaten.
Or just allow them all to eat it as reheated fish and chips is gross and you're on holiday?

Nancy91 · 28/08/2017 20:00

I fucking love chips

elephantoverthehill · 28/08/2017 20:03

TizzyDongue in theory, yes, but on the other side of the Solent in reality. Remaining Dc also requested a side order of chips, which I whole-heartedly supported after trying to make sense of this thread last night and today.
