Fish N Chips

Okay ... crazy one for you ... currently on holiday with my DP my DC and three DSC

Tonight we ordered our meals at a restaurant on site.. my meal, my son and one of the step children meal arrived, the others didn't. So immediately we asked where the other meals where and the restaurant apologised and said they had forgotten. They offered us free fish and chips from the site chippy which we accepted.
While we were waiting for the chips my son and two of the step children went back to eat the food from the restaurant.

My other DSC went back in a bit after to eat half of "my" meal with his sister, but she'd eaten all the double cheeseburger and chips. Anyway got back to the caravan and DSS who had nothing to eat joined us and the 3 of us tucked into fish & chips. Then the others arrived back after eating their meals, and asked for their fish & chips as well?!?! (First question, what would you do give them it?)

But then DSD said to DSS, save it till tomorrow as that's what we'd said to the others (bearing in mind they'd eaten already). Is that weird what DSS said? Is she trying to say it's fair? Wwyd???

Sorry....It's your dsd who feels left out. She should not tell her brother to save his.

bluegrape · 28/08/2017 08:54

I'd have let everyone tuck into the spare food. You can unclench a bit on holiday surely. The food left out will be wasted and it must stink!

DottyBlue2 · 28/08/2017 08:55

Ignore all the negative comments on here, OP. These posters are just pissing on your chips.

Pancakeflipper · 28/08/2017 08:58

I'm stuck on the 'save this'. Why and how do you save the fish and chips?

Gorgosparta · 28/08/2017 08:58

Day old fish and chips are only worth pissing on.

Not worth eating Grin

DottyBlue2 · 28/08/2017 09:01

And don't let anyone tell you that feeding chips to seagulls is a bad idea either. It's fun and the birds are cute.

not

Floellabumbags · 28/08/2017 09:06

a biscuit tree.......

A biscuit tree? Where can I buy one? "A biscuit tree would solve the fish and chip problem. Maybe. God only knows.

gamerwidow · 28/08/2017 09:07

Ah if there are no vouchers then it's daft to leave the 3 meals on the side.
The fridges in caravans are crap and it's boiling at the moment.
You're all going to get a nasty bout of food poisoning when you tuck into those today....

StatueInTheSky · 28/08/2017 09:16

why did you get SIX fish and chips when you only needed three?

this is the real question!

aside from the fact that some halfarsed pub cannot coordinate an order for more than three meals! Or continue cooking until everyone's requested meal is in front of them.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 28/08/2017 09:27

"Chickens who identify as goats" has made me cry with laughter.

strawberrisc · 28/08/2017 09:28

I would have blown the place up.

bluegrape · 28/08/2017 09:30

why did you get SIX fish and chips when you only needed three?

Yes! What's the point of a freebie if you aren't going to enjoy it?

Nuttynoo · 28/08/2017 09:34

You should have binned the 3 extras & told DSS that she's never to tell anyone what they can or can't eat or force others to share their food.

Floellabumbags · 28/08/2017 09:34

I would have blown the place up

Chip murderer!

MrsOverTheRoad · 28/08/2017 09:51

Greedy people often try to control what others eat. My SIL does it.

She eyeballs people as they take a share of something which is communal...she also polices people "Oh! Having ANOTHER sandwich!?"

When she's quietly packing away all she can inhale. She HATES other people eating anything even though the rest of her family eat normal amounts.

hippyhippyshake · 28/08/2017 10:07

I'm confused at to why you left your burger to get cold? Couldn't DP have just gone to get the complimentary meals with the others and left the rest of you to eat the meals that had been served?

amazonEcho · 28/08/2017 10:21

SC went back to DSS, save it till the restaurant on site.. my son and chippy which we were and the double chips as that's what DSS said to say it's where and said? Is she trying to eating to eat half of then the cheeseburger and one of the restaurant.

My others arrived back in mind them it?)

But their meals at a restaurant on site cheeseburger and asked for the step children went back after eaten already). Is that's where waiting the double cheeseburger and the others didn't. So immediately we we NBU

HTH

eyebrowsonfleek · 28/08/2017 11:11

I think you could have accepted 3 freebies or given 3 portions to someone sleeping rough and homeless. (Or is it just where I live that has homeless people easily found?)

Of course dss should have eaten - he hadnt eaten yet.

pringlecat · 28/08/2017 12:05

It sounds like this was handled badly by the restaurant.

You need 6 meals. 3 turn up. To fix this, another 6 (completely different) meals turn up.

So 3 people have 2 meals each and 3 people have 1 meal each.

The first three should have eaten whichever meal they preferred. No one wants to eat two dinners back-to-back unless they have some kind of medical problem.

Re keeping fish and chips - no. The fish won't keep and chip shop chips do not reheat well for some reason. Just no.

It basically sounds like the the restaurant screwed up twice. They should have rushed through the missing 3 meals and then chucked in 6 free cheap deserts. Their solution just sounds bizarre.

RestingBitchFaced · 28/08/2017 12:11

Who the hell would want to save fish and chips for tomorrow? Just share it out, given people who have already eaten less or none

Brittbugs80 · 28/08/2017 12:26

Fish and chips always taste better out the wrapper and when you eat them outside. They taste different inside and off plates.

annielouise · 28/08/2017 12:34

6 portions of fish and chips for 3 is a lot. Even those that had eaten I'd have shared everything out as wouldn't last until tomorrow. Yes, some would have had 2 meals (if they'd eaten a full portion) but what are you worrying about - them overeating (I'd say it's a one-off so not a big deal and the step kids' weight is not really anything to do with you) or some getting more perceived treats (for that I'd say two meals are hardly a treat - it's not like some got two ice-creams or bags of crisps where I would say it was unfair as kids will see these as treats more than meals)?

MrTrebus · 28/08/2017 12:38

This thread is fucking hilarious it makes no sense at all and I love it!

XiCi · 28/08/2017 12:50

I think it's pretty wasteful to have ordered 6 portions when 3 had already eaten. As you had all 6 portions there I don't think it unreasonable to let the ones that had already eaten pick at some of the chippy meal. Chips cannot be reheated the next day anyway.
Your dd telling your ds to save his for tomorrow to eat with her when he hadn't eaten is just bloody stupid and you should have told her so immediately.

SonicBoomBoom · 28/08/2017 12:54

It does sound like DSD has issues with food and greed, perhaps.

But please don't reheat fish and chips, that will be grim.
