To think that it IS rude?

A friend posted on facebook the other day about having a work man other who pooed in her loo without asking. The comments were all saying how rude and disgusting it was. Some even saying to report him or that they would have kicked him out. Anyway I mentioned it to a friend who didn't see the problem. But I do think that it's rude aswell so aibu or is it rude not to ask?!

Not my friend. A man who commented on it on her friends list.

So if there are not public toilets on every street and needing to poo isn't something that can be helped I go back to "what do people do when they aren't near public toilets and need a poo?" They wait!!

No it's definitely not illegal lol there are public toilets after all.

I'll try to remember that next time I am in a family's home looking after their very sick, ventilated child overnight while they sleep. When I need a wee I shall just pop in my car and drive 20+ miles to the nearest public toilet because that wouldn't cause the family any problems at all Hmm. I am glad our families respect us enough to treat us with the respect and dignity that everyone deserves and 'allow' us to use their toilets (and no, I do not help myself to their tea/coffee/food/electricity unless I am told I can, these things are NOT the same as toilet facilities).

Or they change their plans, or go home, or pay to use a coffee shop, or many other things that are completely unnecessary in this case because they are working somewhere which has a toilet. I'm clearly missing this ring of steel (maybe I should eat less fibre Hmm) that means I never have to shit anywhere apart from my own home.

I wouldn't be impressed with a workman who decided to leave the job in the middle of every day he was working on my house because he needed the toilet and I was too precious pathetic to cope with my toilet being used for what it's designed for. Get a grip.

Sheitgeist · 24/08/2017 14:32

In that situation Dancing I guess someone would have to go and look for one... maybe go to a cafe, petrol station or pub. If you make a tradesperson do that though, I sincerely hope they continue to charge you for the time you are forcing them to spend away from site.

HoneyIshrunktheBiscuit · 24/08/2017 14:33

I honestly can't understand how precious some people can be about people using a toilet for poo.

Bluntness100 · 24/08/2017 14:41

What the hell kind of forums are you on op where people would physically assault you if you took a crap in their loo.

It's mind boggling in its weirdness.

Redadmiralflyer · 24/08/2017 14:49

If he needs a poo he needs a poo. Yes he could have asked first but maybe he was embarrassed. It's not a big deal. I would be annoyed if he left a mess. Minging that he stunk the place out but hey ho nothing to get worked up about.

TooGood2BeFalse · 24/08/2017 14:49

I would hate the thought of literally anybody being uncomfortable and needing the toilet and being too shy to ask or JUST GO.

Yes, obviously a stranger's ahem scent is probably a bit more off putting than say your own child's, but for god's sake it's a TOILET - if you are expecting to sit there and enjoy a steak dinner then you have issues

StrangeLookingParasite · 24/08/2017 14:54

I go back to "what do people do when they aren't near public toilets and need a poo?" They wait!!

NO, they DON'T. As I said earlier, I have paid (bought coffees I didn't really want) to use the facilities at a café. I can't imagine what horrible things you do to your insides by not just going when you need to. I hope you find a good lower GI specialist.

lljkk · 24/08/2017 14:57

"what do people do when they aren't near public toilets and need a poo?"

They wait!!

er, no, they don't. They stop everything else they're doing & go find a toilet. It's your money If you want to pay for Ur builder's time to get in car & drive somewhere else b/c your toilet is too special to receive builder excrement.

honeyroar · 24/08/2017 14:58

It doesn't really matter what people do when there are no toilets (suffer?) because in this case there was a toilet.

Yes poo can smell sometimes, but if you have adequate ventilation/extractor fans it isn't a problem for more than a couple of minutes.

bookworm14 · 24/08/2017 14:59

I am baffled by people who have an issue with this. As long as they clean up after themselves, anyone who wants to can poo in my toilet.

Also, it's often not as simple as 'waiting until you're near a public loo'. I have Crohn's disease and waiting often isn't an option. I'm sure people would rather I used the loo in their house than soiled myself... Hmm

QueSera · 24/08/2017 15:01

This is the craziest thread i've ever seen on mn! Craziest op i mean. Rude and disgusting for a workman to poo in a toilet??!? Absolutely unreal. If a workman is working in your house, that's his workplace, and if he (or anyone in the house) needs to poo, the logical thing is to do it in the toilet. No?
You say he didnt need to ask if he wanted a wee, but apparently he should have asked to have a poo. What?!!!
And yes poo smells - but everyone's poo surely, not just workmen? Please op.
And yes op pooing is an urgent need for most people i think. Op you and your friend must have very special digestive systems that produce non-urgent, non-smelling poos!!!

If I need to poo and I'm not near a public toilet then, if I'm in any sort of civilisation, I aim to find a shop, pub etc with an available loo or, as people have said, pay if necessary to use a shop loo. If I'm in the middle of nowhere, well, that's what trees are for.

stalkingfred · 24/08/2017 15:03

I don't think it's rude either. Different if it was all smeared about the loo and room. Sometimes I get so ill if I hold in a much needed poo!

Years ago a delivery guy asked to use my loo. He was a regular driver and really polite. I thought no harm for a quick wee. Anyway, he was in there ages. I wasn't quite sure what to do, thought he may have keeled over. When he came out he thanked me and left and i walked past the loo after shutting the front door. The poor bloke had obviously been really ill, else I suspect he wouldn't have asked. But there was green residue, it stank. Ugh. I had to open every window and I was gagging. I'm glad I didn't say no because he was obviously suffering and I can understand why he didn't apologise for the stench etc as he was probably embarrassed.

Next time I had a delivery I was almost concerned enough to ask him if he had been ok after. But I didn't want to embarrass him.

Bit sad that everyone ignored my sensible points a few pages back Sad

There are plenty of people who are squeamish/anxious about poo. It's unfortunate. Obviously we shouldn't make this someone else's problem, but, equally, it's quite nasty that lots of people on this thread are going on and on about how weird we are. I know I'm weird... but not that weird; I've read other threads where people agree that they can't poo when there are other people in the house! (I'm not that bad.)

Someone up thread asked about long haul flights- implying that you'd have to poo on a 20 hr flight!? 20 hours is nothing! I wouldn't go more than once in 24 hrs on a normal day, let alone if I was on a plane! I've waited over 50 hrs between poos when I was forced to go on a school camping trip!

TealStar · 24/08/2017 15:12

In what world do people post such ridiculous attention seeking, witch-hunting rubbish on Facebook?

Dancingfairy · 24/08/2017 15:15

This was on Facebook the man who wanted to punch him up was a fb friend of hers,'not someone I know.
