Did this on a course today. I am ISFJ and I was totally freaked out by the profile. It isn't sort of like me. It IS me. It's like somebody sat on my shoulder for a year and then described me. Anybody else had this?

Honestly Bertrand what do you believe? I've only ever seen you rail about others ... beliefs is not quite the word, but their framework. We are all just trying to make sense of things.

LittlePearl · 24/08/2017 00:10

INFJ

The person who did my test said INFJs are often very interested in personality testing, ha!

The biggest revelation was my ENTP husband. I suddenly realised he wasn't being deliberately difficult, he can't help it Grin

rockshandy · 24/08/2017 00:11

INTJ. Years apart I always come out as this and I feel it's very accurate.

PaganGoddessBrigid · 24/08/2017 00:12

soFarsogood my DD is an ESTJ and I had to laugh when I read that its descriptor is The Executive. Her room is so organised. I was trying to persuade her to be a teacher (one of the careers that would suit my type) and she wrinkled her lip. But when I read out her list she was licking her lips. Especially at Manager! She almost manages me I tell ya

WaxyBean · 24/08/2017 00:14

Another INTP here - eerily accurate.

Somerville · 24/08/2017 00:14

Thank you to PP who postedthe definitions of hell. Can't stop laughing at the one for DH (ISFJ) "Everyone you love is yelling at each other and it’s all your fault."
When the kids and I shout at each other - & the one time his mother and I fell out - he gets so miserable. Grin

murasaki · 24/08/2017 00:15

INTJ too. I jokingly called it 'Hitler in a frock' when it was read to me in a team meeting. Having read the descriptions to DP, he says a lot of it makes sense, but not all. Ah well.

I've done the test twice, and only been given the result from the second one, would be interested to see if the first one was the same.

Oops apologies for accidental post!

BertrandRussell · 24/08/2017 00:17

You answer lots of questions about yourself- and the algorithm comes up with a fairly accurate personality reading in most cases. Why is this at all amazing?

murasaki · 24/08/2017 00:19

Given there are so many questions, I think it' s pretty hard to cheat it. particularly if you gave it the amount of thought (aka none, did it on instinct) as I did.

PaganGoddessBrigid · 24/08/2017 00:19

Catra I know what you mean about sensors. All my friends are INFP ENFP, INFJ. I even have an ENTJ friend, although she's very successufl, of course!
my mum is ISTJ and she can be very closed to anything mysterious or wondrous if I can describe the intangible in that way. I was trying to explain to her why I was reading a book of celtic folklore, there are some lovely lessons about nature and what mankind should remember to respect (wrt the earth and the land) and she was just rolling her eyes. We are very different. I encourage her but she rolls her eyes at me :-(

Alicecooperslovechild · 24/08/2017 00:21

INTJ here too. For such an apparently rare grouping there seem to be plenty of us here. Apparently we would make good criminal masterminds.

applespearsbears · 24/08/2017 00:23

INFJ, -A/-T The Advocate here, I thought it was 95% accurate And it seemed to confirm things about me I'd never quite been able to describe. I definitely agree with decompressing, work wise I found it spot on. Not sure what the -A-T is all about....

KeepServingTheDrinks · 24/08/2017 00:25

Just took the test. (I'm an ESFP-t apparently). Not too many of us on here?

It wasn't not-right, but the problem is that I have so many 'me's (I'm sure most of you are the same).... The work person, the mother, the wife, the friend, etc and I present different 'faces' at all of them. The conversations I have with my husband would get me sacked at work; the way I live in my home isn't the same as my desk at work. I don't give advice to friends, but (for example) I sat my DD (15 3/4) down today and had a conversation about how she mustn't feel ultimately responsible because she's just got herself her first bf and he has depression. I'd NEVER say that to a work colleague or friend. and these people are ALL ME.

Having said that, I thought it was quite an accurate result.....

MeMeMeMe123 · 24/08/2017 00:26

Laurie great description of a get together!

Somerville · 24/08/2017 00:27

You answer lots of questions about yourself- and the algorithm comes up with a fairly accurate personality reading in most cases.

And actually, reading the 16 types and identifying which one describes you is fairly legitimate, too. More so in some cases than one of the non-accredited online tests.

Why is this at all amazing

Many people gain some personal insight from personality typing, which can feel pleasurable. To me it's more interesting than anything else.

applespearsbears · 24/08/2017 00:28

Lauriefairycakes fantasy meet up - yes! That's exactly how I feel when I go out! It's exhausting!

GreatFuckability · 24/08/2017 00:34

INFP-T

FeedMeAndTellMeImPretty · 24/08/2017 00:36

I wonder if INFJs are drawn to Myers Briggs because it's one place where we are made out to be mysterious and interesting rather than weird and anti-social? Might explain why so many of us strongly identify with our label and happily trot it out on these threads.

MN is also great for listening and counselling so I guess that's why we feel at home here.

As empaths we love to feel useful helping others with their problems so a site like this probably attracts and retains more empathetic people than many others.

I think INFJs tend to be night owls too, so there will be more along any minute Grin

MsJuniper · 24/08/2017 00:40

INFP (A/T) here - The Mediator. It's accurate apart from some key things such as ability in languages.

Rather like the Derren Brown episode where he gave each person a "personalised" profile which was incredibly, individually accurate (and identical to all the others), I think there are enough statements which appeal to people's sense of inner self that it can seem insightful, but of course there are grains of truth because the analysis is based on what you have told the test.

Despite that, it's an interesting and valuable exercise in giving an insight into your personality traits and finding ways to use them to deal with situations and relationships.

But then I would think everyone is right, because I am The Mediator.

LuckyLuckyMe · 24/08/2017 00:41

INFJ here too. Can there really be that many INFJ's here if it's only 1% of the population?

Crispbutty · 24/08/2017 00:41

Intp-t
Fairly accurate

LaurieFairyCake · 24/08/2017 00:45

Agree FeedMe - Mumsnet is probably a very natural place for INFJ's.

And that of all the types we really grab onto our label. There's a whole load of pages and links and quotes on Pinterest about INFJs - some are really descriptive and good

Curlyshabtree · 24/08/2017 00:47

ENTJ-A The Commander. I should be running the joint!!
