Did this on a course today. I am ISFJ and I was totally freaked out by the profile. It isn't sort of like me. It IS me. It's like somebody sat on my shoulder for a year and then described me. Anybody else had this?

OP posts:
BertrandRussell · 24/08/2017 18:37

I think I might be an OFGS.

SallyOMalley · 24/08/2017 18:44

Bertrand Grin

There is a whole one day training session in my workplace on Myers Briggs. It's interesting, but I wouldn't spend a day on it again!

I came out as ENFJ (along with Barack Obama ... apparently).

DioneTheDiabolist · 24/08/2017 18:44

Are you ok Bert? You said you did the test last night, but you appear to have no memory of it now.Confused

SirVixofVixHall · 24/08/2017 18:48

ENFP-T . I am about to read up on what that is supposed to mean!

BertrandRussell · 24/08/2017 18:49

Good lord. So I did. Absolutely no recollection of doing it at all.

Hang on, I'll have another go.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/08/2017 18:50

It's nothing like horoscopes Confused

There's a poster further down who's critical of it and even they say it's 'only' 50% accurate. That's pretty high.

If you have a look round the internet at the 'debunking' it's not even really debunked, it's just been replaced by other test methods with the big 5 new thing from 2008. If you take that test (as I did earlier) you may find it accurate for you - I certainly didn't. Nor do I think it's a better test - they are ALL just a guide, all flawed, there is no scientific personality test that stands up to rigorous testing - obviously! It's your psyche.

'Debunking' is not an accurate scientific term here, it's been criticised like other testing methods are criticised.

I also completely disagree that it's full of generic Barnum statements - there's not one on an average list that appears in my personality typing. Nor do I read any other personality types and think it applies to me.

INFJ describes me pretty well, better than other test methods. And unchanging for me over the last 25 years when I first did it.

I'm not particularly stupid or 'moronic' either Hmm

Orangebird69 · 24/08/2017 18:54

It's been years, but I'm ISTP.

Iamembarrassed · 24/08/2017 19:00

Intj I guess it's not that rare but maybe it's just because it's the internet so we all have collected together here :)

solarisIsAClassic · 24/08/2017 19:05

"There's a poster further down who's critical of it and even they say it's 'only' 50% accurate. That's pretty high."

You aren't a statistician are you? Ask me any binary question and I have at least a 50% accuracy.

Do you have blonde hair?

Do you have brown eyes?

Are you medically insane?

Are you a moron?

Are you stupid?

Guessing an answer to each gives me a 50% chance of being correct.

Do you understand that 50% accuracy is appalling?

LaurieFairyCake · 24/08/2017 19:12

50% of personality testing is 'appalling' is it ?

Personality? We're not gene testing here, not hair colour, not testing straight hypotheses.

If I could test your personality and get 50% accuracy I'd be considering I'd be doing well Grin

There are NO other personality tests more accurate - feel free to check

I am NOT saying it's accurate, I am saying it's no more or less accurate than any other personality tests.

SOME tests are clearly going to be more accurate than others for individuals.

MeMeMeMe123 · 24/08/2017 19:18

meet your twin dimsie - excellent iteration of the INFJ imo

ninnypoo · 24/08/2017 19:20

ISFJ (a turbulent one)

solarisIsAClassic · 24/08/2017 19:24

LaurieFairyCake

50% accuracy is the same as guessing, yes.

I understand that BM have 16 types of personality but however many outcomes, 50% is terrible.

Do you get it? Do you?

Mystic Meg being the best crystal ball reader doesn't mean she's worth listening to. Do you get it? Do you?

Do you work in HR?

LaurieFairyCake · 24/08/2017 19:37

50% accuracy is not the same as guessing - well unless you're guessing a yes or no answer

No, I don't work in HR. And I'm not associated with meyers Briggs, nor am I a Myers Briggs consultant.

Nice to see you agree with me though that there aren't any more accurate ways of personality testing

At least I assume you agree with me since you've not taken issue with the content of my last post

MrsT2007 · 24/08/2017 19:39

ENFJ apparently

LaurieFairyCake · 24/08/2017 19:39

Have you done the test solaris - I'd be really interested in your results and what you thought of them Wink

abigailgabble · 24/08/2017 19:40

Myers Briggs was such an eye opener! I've done a lot and I'm always either INTP or INFP. Sooooo accurate. Haven't done one for a while CLICK

abigailgabble · 24/08/2017 19:41

Oh shhhh @steff13 WE WANT TO BELIEVE

solarisIsAClassic · 24/08/2017 19:48

Yes, I've taken it.

I'm E(91%), S(22%), T(6%), J(3%)

What did I think of it? Couldn't care less.

"At least I assume you agree with me since you've not taken issue with the content of my last post"

"I am NOT saying it's accurate, I am saying it's no more or less accurate than any other personality tests."

I take it my Mystic Meg comment went straight over you. I'm no genius but I do think I'm wasting my time talking to you. It really has been painful.

Good luck.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/08/2017 19:49

Gosh you're coming across as really hostile

Hope you feel better soon solaris Flowers

solarisIsAClassic · 24/08/2017 19:53

Frustrated. I'd have expected you to recognise that one.\

Good luck.

Youcanttaketheskyfromme · 24/08/2017 19:54

INTP. Not sure what that really means but hey.

Ofthread · 24/08/2017 20:09

Lots of INTJs here. Now we're here, what shall we do?

greenlavender · 24/08/2017 20:26

INTJ

Miserylovescompany2 · 24/08/2017 20:43

INFP-A Hmm
