...to ask you to join me in the 9 month challenge!

9monthchallenge · 20/08/2017 21:11

Mumsnetters, I've had enough!!! I am 3 stone heavier than I was prior to DC's, unfit, have wobbly bits where no woman should have wobbly bits, and almost collapsed when I caught sight of my legs in the mirror while sporting a (very unflattering) swimsuit on holiday last week.

So that's it. It ends here. I am determined to lose weight. It took 9 months to put on (and has stayed on for many many more months!! - DC's are 3 and 5!!), so I pledge to lose it again in 9 months! And ... to get fit, and do something nice for a great charity, I've signed up for a charity place in the London Marathon ... just waiting to see if I get accepted. The marathon is on 22nd April - so that's my target! to run the marathon on 22nd April, and to have got back to my pre-baby weight, by that date.

AIBU to post one comment on this thread everyday to keep me motivated and stop me from backing out or giving up??

AI(also)BU to ask for a few supporting comments, and maybe for one or two of you (or more!!) to join me in pledging to lose weight/give up smoking/get fit/give up chocolate ..or whatever! for the next 9 months??

We can do it!!!! keep checking in here! and lets see if we can keep this going to April 22nd, and lets celebrate on that day!

The 9 month challenge starts now! ......

Aw OP if it's any consolation I had 3 and a half stone to lose and my youngest is 16.
At Christmas I had a week where I had a mammogram and very high blood pressure. It was the brutal truth I needed. I did dry January with mumsnet penguins.
I got a Fitbit and am in a mumsnet Fitbit challenge group.
I just stopped eating so much rubbish- cut out bread and potatoes at home, not much meat. Lots of veg and chicken and fish.
Fitbit shows approx calories you are burning so it's easy to see you can't eat more.
I have now lost the 3 1/2 stones. I feel fantastic and am addicted to walking-
You can do it!! It's simple decisions. I never said I was on a diet- just changing habits. Still have treats but make it up another day.,
Will be cheering for you!!!

Seeyamonday · 27/08/2017 17:05

I'm in, not for the marathon but I need to lose around 3stone, I'll do a step challenge... 12500 or above per day. Son gets married next year and I don't want to to be the fatty at the party!! We CAN do it!

Meredith501 · 27/08/2017 17:25

I'm in!

Had a baby 4 months ago and weight fell off for the first 8 weeks (mainly fluid) but since then has stalled due to my love of chocolate.

I used to run 10k but it's been so long, I started c25k 2 weeks ago with 2 days of strength training each week too. I have stuck to the exercise for the last fortnight but haven't lost any weight (the chocolate again 😋) so I am determined to change my diet.

ticketytock1 · 27/08/2017 17:29

I'm with ya! I've just finished my 2nd full week on SW.. every single meal and snack has been on plan and I'm so proud of myself. I feel much more energetic and less bloated.
I want to lose 5 stone

MulhuddartDrive · 27/08/2017 21:11

Yesterday was a rest day and a write off food wise. Today has been better. I just need to make myself go for a run now...

9monthchallenge · 28/08/2017 21:04

Mul... I'm with you! Today was a right off food wise for me :( plus bloody migraine again Angry Sad Tomorrow is another day .......

OP posts:
MulhuddartDrive · 28/08/2017 21:41

Bad day, migraine has struck which explains the massive sugar craving so I'm out for today.

MulhuddartDrive · 28/08/2017 21:41

Hope you're feeling better soon, 9. Migraines suck ass.

FredTheArmadillo · 28/08/2017 21:49

Hey everyone, can I join in too?

5 stone weight gain thanks to an undiagnosed thyroid issue, got 3 off fairly quickly when I got onto the meds. Then it turned out it was more complex and I'm getting it removed by radioactive iodine in a couple of weeks. I've gained about a stone recently, havent been able to control my weight so have abandoned all dieting and been eating all the things I've deprived myself of for years!! Gluten free fresh start (good for thyroid issues) after the procedure, planning to use huel to help with that as I'm likely to be exhausted for a while. Just about to go back and RTT properly but wanted to say hello!

MoonlightBay · 29/08/2017 09:10

May I join?

I have 3st to lose, but I am going to focus on the first stone, which I hope to lose over the next 2-3 months.

I entered the ballot for the London Marathon, which is crazy as I don't even like running. I will be starting couch to 5 k this week. Maybe I will grow to love itConfused

MulhuddartDrive · 29/08/2017 21:03

I ate pretty well today and I've just done a 30min plod run. I think I'm getting my running mojo back, I did 2 x 11 min stretches with 1 min walk after each, and 3 mins for the final bit.

Honeybee79 · 29/08/2017 21:06

I'll join you OP.

Go for it.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 29/08/2017 21:14

Can I join in as well? I need to lose 2-2.5st. My problem isn't so much what I eat but the large quantities! I can't run due to back and knee problems but I do want to start back at the gym in a couple of weeks.

altiara · 29/08/2017 22:05

Can I join too!!!
I want to start running but aiming for 5k not a marathon! Haven't weighed myself after holiday but would like to go from size 18-20 to size 14/12. Going skiing in April so would like to be fit and have a much smaller belly. Am definitely fatter and heavier than when I was pregnant! And my baby is 8 Blush

9monthchallenge · 29/08/2017 22:43

Hey Mul... ! Now this is weird!! .... we both had bloody migraines yesterday (hope you r feeling better from yours - they r a nightmare aren't they!!??) and tonight we have both had a 30 minute run! and done well with our eating!!! Long lost twin ???? (Now that would make a good daily mail story!!)

Fred... gluten free? ... my mum is gluten free and she's a size 6 or something tiny like that! - so expect great things! Sorry to hear about the thyroid Sad Flowers

Moonlight.., pink..., honeybee..., and altiara... - great to have you on board!! Smile

Day 9 over!!! .... onwards to the marathon! .....

OP posts:
MulhuddartDrive · 30/08/2017 15:58

And I'm more than happy to take credit for your marathon Wink

Yes, migraines are shit. Mine are hormonal but still throw me when i get them. I've been taking magnesium and zinc supplements which seem to be helping with the pain but not the zonkedness.

Not a good day today. Eaten too much and I'll be working too late to go for a run.

9monthchallenge · 30/08/2017 18:13

Mul...thanks for tip! Might try magnesium and zinc - currently on amytritaline as preventative, and sumatriptan when needed (which has been a saviour!) but neither 100% and I am not happy to b on such strong drugs for a long period! Hoping the new fitness and healthy eating regime will help with the migraines too!

(Although .... took DCs to macdonalds as summer holiday treat - have eaten a happy meal myself! :( ... 600 calories of junk! Oh well... onwards and upwards!)

OP posts:
WetPaint4 · 30/08/2017 18:36

I'm in, if you don't mind a latecomer, as I pledged to start a diet in January and again in March and every week for the last 20 years and nothing has happened.

This is more serious now though, my blood pressure has rocketed and I don't wanna be on meds for life. I have 10 stones to lose.

9monthchallenge · 30/08/2017 23:02

Day 10

Despite the macdonalds, managed under 1300 calories. No exercise (rest day ....Wink)

Bring on day 11 .....

Good to have you on board wetpaint...

9monthchallenge · 31/08/2017 20:59

Bumping you thread! So I can find you easily later!!

OP posts:
MulhuddartDrive · 31/08/2017 21:50

Conference today so a bit mental, but i managed not to eat all the gorgeous pastries at coffee and sandwiches at lunch and stayed under my calorie limit. And I managed to walk about 5k so not a lost day.

Lamby80 · 31/08/2017 22:09

Can I join please? I have lost 1 srone.ans have 3.5 to go but working in 1 stone blocks. Totally off the wagon at the moment and in need of motivation. Hoping to lose 20lb by Christmas which I think is achievable.

9monthchallenge · 31/08/2017 22:31

Well done Mul :) ... oh I hate that! - when u r surrounded by reaaaaally nice free food!!!!! You did well to say no! (not sure I could have!!)

Good to have you on board Lamby... :)

So .... Day 11! - been ok! Discovered there's only 150 calories in a dime bar! (So I could eat ten to fifteen and still loose weight!!! - that can't b right???!) Refrained from eating ten and just had the one! Along with a Cadbury brunch bar for breakfast! and mug shots for lunch! Not exactly healthy!!!!!! .... but very weirdly low calorie (?????) Hmm Half an hour on the treadmill too - slowly and heart not in it! But feel like I got through the day diet just about in tact! .... Day 11, here I come!!!

OP posts:
9monthchallenge · 31/08/2017 22:42

Weigh in this morning
