...to ask you to join me in the 9 month challenge!

9monthchallenge · 20/08/2017 21:11

Mumsnetters, I've had enough!!! I am 3 stone heavier than I was prior to DC's, unfit, have wobbly bits where no woman should have wobbly bits, and almost collapsed when I caught sight of my legs in the mirror while sporting a (very unflattering) swimsuit on holiday last week.

So that's it. It ends here. I am determined to lose weight. It took 9 months to put on (and has stayed on for many many more months!! - DC's are 3 and 5!!), so I pledge to lose it again in 9 months! And ... to get fit, and do something nice for a great charity, I've signed up for a charity place in the London Marathon ... just waiting to see if I get accepted. The marathon is on 22nd April - so that's my target! to run the marathon on 22nd April, and to have got back to my pre-baby weight, by that date.

AIBU to post one comment on this thread everyday to keep me motivated and stop me from backing out or giving up??

AI(also)BU to ask for a few supporting comments, and maybe for one or two of you (or more!!) to join me in pledging to lose weight/give up smoking/get fit/give up chocolate ..or whatever! for the next 9 months??

We can do it!!!! keep checking in here! and lets see if we can keep this going to April 22nd, and lets celebrate on that day!

The 9 month challenge starts now! ......

I started my weightloss on May 1st this year and gave lost 2st 1lb so far. I also started c25k and got up to wk5 r1 before going to Lanzarote then it fell apart. I haven't done any exercise since then until I did 30ds Thurs/Fri and c25k w1 r1 this morning as I didn't want to do 30ds again. It'll probably take me about 3 weeks to do 2 weeks worth due to rota but hopefully this time I'll manage to conplete it. I'll never complete a marathon but I hope to run 5k.

I'm currently posting on a support thread in Weightloss chat but will also join in here too if you don't mind.

Good luck with your marathon, hope you get accepted OP.

Bubblysqueak · 20/08/2017 21:56

Eod love to do a marathon but bad to stop training for a half 18months ago with a knee injury. That's when the weight crept back on. Good luck!

Isadora2007 · 20/08/2017 21:56

I'm up for a challenge too. Don't do dieting as it makes me worse but I have downloaded MyFitnessPal and will use it to track my food and will do a plan for a version of couch to 5k to start this week.
We can all inspire each other. Can I please ask people to stop being so fat-shaming though. Comments like "I've 1.5 stones to lose and I'm a state" are pretty disheartening to those people who have more than that to lose in order to be healthy.

Our focus should be on improving health and improving our eating choices and getting to a healthy weight range. Not to look a certain way or fit into a given size surely?

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 20/08/2017 21:59

I think we all have different reasons to lose weight

I've 2 stone of marathon weight to shift!! I over did the 'carb loading' for my marathon and after it when all the hype died down, I was left very de- motivated with post marathon blues

So put weight on!! I'm back in marathon mode now.... booked Reading half marathon for March🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

SeveredPixieBits · 20/08/2017 22:01

I'm in. Five and a half stone to lose BlushSad

ChocolateRicecake · 20/08/2017 22:06

Well done for even getting this far! I'm fed up with hating my size; have downloaded couch to 5K but can't quite get any further...

HoosierDaddy · 20/08/2017 22:17

Go on, I am in. I haven't ran since I left school 20 years ago so that's not on my radar but I would like to improve my fitness and I really need to lose 4 stone. I have my food sorted for the week and I plan to build up my stamina by walking

vikingprincess81 · 20/08/2017 22:19

Can we make another deal? No Blush about how much we have to lose? We're all where we are and some posters will have more to lose than others, some won't lose anything but will tone up, and some people (bows head reverentially!) will run a marathon! We can just agree we're all marvellous in our own ways?
I love to see (and be involved in) women supporting women, there can be so much bitchiness in the world 💕GrinFlowers

vikingprincess81 · 20/08/2017 22:20

Severed you're fantastic whether you have 5lbs or 5 stone to lose - you're making a positive step towards being healthier. Be proud of yourself Grin

thingsthatgobumpinthenightouch · 20/08/2017 22:22

I also need to lose 3 stone, I am in!

vikingprincess81 · 20/08/2017 22:23

I bought a Sistema bento lunch box thingy at Tesco about half an hour ago - this post has motivated me to go fill it with a nice healthy, nutritious lunch for work tomorrow. I've been tracking food intake and been going to the gym regularly for a few months now and have lost a stone, but would love to join this thread and support others/be supported Brew (will offer a brew and not a wine for obvious reasons!)

MulhuddartDrive · 20/08/2017 22:30

Me, me! I'm in! I lost 4 stone a couple of years ago and was horrified to realise I've put 2 back on Sad pure laziness and not properly watching what I'm eating (too much crap). I'm doing couch to 5 k again and want to be able to run a comfortable 10k before Christmas.

MissingPanda · 20/08/2017 22:32

Severed when I started in May I was 15st 6lb. I still need to lose about 3st. To tell the truth it's been that long since I've been a healthy weight that I'm not sure what my ideal weight is. I'm going to wait and see how I feel when I get there.

CarlottosWay · 20/08/2017 22:38

I am in. I have 4 stone to loseBlush
Inspired by the bbc Mind Over Marathon participants, I applied for a ballot placeConfused

Sashkin · 20/08/2017 22:38

I'm in. I actually lost weight on bed rest during my pregnancy, but unfortunately it was all muscle I lost and I'm now flabby-tummied. I could definitely stand to lose half a stone of fat round my middle (I'm really short, so I don't carry it well).

I used to run half marathons - I'll aim to get back to that before mat leave finishes, which is around 22nd April. Not fixing a weight goal as it will depend on muscle gain, but will aim to get my waistline back to where it was before.

NurseP · 21/08/2017 10:15

Viking- yes!!! We are all fabulous!!!!

MulhuddartDrive · 21/08/2017 15:45

Well that was a bad start. Called to visit a friend and her new baby and I ate a very large lunch if mostly cheese Blush. Dh is away so I can't go for a run. Tomorrow is another day...

MissingPanda · 21/08/2017 19:55

Evening :)

As I said in my first post I started losing weight at the beginning of May and my weigh in day is Monday. Today I WI at 13st 3lb a loss of 2lb. I'm also now in the overweight category with a BMI of 29.9 instead of the obese category.

Mulhuddart so long as today remains just that, one day, you'll be fine.

CheeseGirl4 · 21/08/2017 20:12

I've no children, but have managed to gain 2 stone in the past 4 years - a combination of menopause, greed and laziness. Theres a half marathon near me the month after your marathon, so I'm in.

9monthchallenge · 21/08/2017 20:57

Hi all :) great so many of you are in and up for a challenge :) well done on your weight loss missingpanda :)
