...to ask you to join me in the 9 month challenge!

9monthchallenge · 20/08/2017 21:11

Mumsnetters, I've had enough!!! I am 3 stone heavier than I was prior to DC's, unfit, have wobbly bits where no woman should have wobbly bits, and almost collapsed when I caught sight of my legs in the mirror while sporting a (very unflattering) swimsuit on holiday last week.

So that's it. It ends here. I am determined to lose weight. It took 9 months to put on (and has stayed on for many many more months!! - DC's are 3 and 5!!), so I pledge to lose it again in 9 months! And ... to get fit, and do something nice for a great charity, I've signed up for a charity place in the London Marathon ... just waiting to see if I get accepted. The marathon is on 22nd April - so that's my target! to run the marathon on 22nd April, and to have got back to my pre-baby weight, by that date.

AIBU to post one comment on this thread everyday to keep me motivated and stop me from backing out or giving up??

AI(also)BU to ask for a few supporting comments, and maybe for one or two of you (or more!!) to join me in pledging to lose weight/give up smoking/get fit/give up chocolate ..or whatever! for the next 9 months??

We can do it!!!! keep checking in here! and lets see if we can keep this going to April 22nd, and lets celebrate on that day!

The 9 month challenge starts now! ......

Sleepingbunnies · 21/08/2017 21:12

Am a size 16 the biggest iv ever been. I got married 5 weeks ago and i havent told anyone but i do not like my wedding photos :( :(

MulhuddartDrive · 21/08/2017 21:54

Ok, I've only eaten some fruit since I got home (I'm still stuffed with cheese) and I've done a 15 min core routine so I've redeemed the day a little. Planning a run tomorrow between work and picking up from summer camp.

9month, I've a horrible headache too. It's both a migraine and sinus pain due to the awful weather. I sympathise greatly.

EB123 · 21/08/2017 22:25

I am in! I have weight to lose after three babies (youngest is 16 months) so am now tracking my calories and exercise myfitnesspal. I have realised how little water I have been drinking so have upped that massively.I would love to lose a couple of dress sizes.

NSEA · 21/08/2017 22:29

I might join. I have a holiday in 9 months and need tk lose 3 stone. My 2 are 1 and 3! We can do this!

Dogsmom · 21/08/2017 22:32

I need to lose 3 stone too and signed up to slimming world 3 weeks ago but feeling very demotivated at only losing 4lbs so far.

I'm also trying to get back into running and have been this evening but not enjoying it like I did, hopefully this tread will help with motivation. Smile

SleepingStandingUp · 21/08/2017 22:39

I'm in.

I lost enough weight to get pregnant and lot all my weight by discharge at 12 weeks. He's 26 months now aand I'm bigger than ever. If I even want another pregnancy I need to loose a very significant amount bit no motivation, a toddler with additional needs and surviving on sleep vs cake

PanicAtTheDisco2000 · 21/08/2017 22:47

I'd like to sign up as well!
I have 2.5 stone I need to lose for health reasons (have recently had a nasty scare)
The ironic thing is I did the London marathon this year, and was only 2-3 lbs less than I am now.
I'm no athlete though.
Most runners I know run so they can eat cake, they are a bad influence.

CocoLoco87 · 21/08/2017 23:09

I'm a bit late to the party but can I join please? I also have 3st to lose post DC, am running the London half in March and have applied for a London marathon place through the ballot...find out in October if I'm doing it!! I'm a total non-runner, non-exerciser and my wobbly tummy is very disheartening!
Thanks for starting such a thread as this 9month Easter Smile

PollyMycroft · 21/08/2017 23:14

I'm in (for weightloss...not for running...never for running).

OverTheHammer · 21/08/2017 23:16

I'll join in, I'm on week 4 of couch to 5k and it's a killer! I'm actually repeating the week this week as I can't face the thought of week 5 😂

I want to lose around half a stone

MulhuddartDrive · 22/08/2017 17:58

I did week 5 day 1 of couch to 5k today.

PanicAtTheDisco2000 · 22/08/2017 18:59

I did c25k and distinctly remember the terror of week 5, it seemed such a hurdle. The thing is, c25k works, and if you've done the earlier weeks, you'll do week 5. Trust in it!

MulhuddartDrive · 22/08/2017 19:14

I've done it before, Panic, and earlier in the year was managing (a very slow) 10k Sad. I've had a few injuries and a bad stretch with work and other shit that meant I just abandoned ship on anything healthy, so it's a massive slog to get back into it. But I will, and thanks for the encouragement 👍

Oraiste · 22/08/2017 19:54

Just seen this. Can I join? I have 3 stone to loose. I have a 3 year old and I'm heavier now than after he was born Blush. Need to do something about it for health reasons and we have a big family wedding to go to next summer so I'd like to be healthier and look better.

9monthchallenge · 22/08/2017 21:15

Ahhh sleepingbunnies Flowers I bet you looked gorgeous in your photos, it was your wedding day :) weight matters not in our wedding dresses! But I know what you mean about photos - I hate all my holiday snaps :(

Mulhudhart... wow! I need to start trying some core workouts! (I'm sadly an apple!!) and well done on all the excercise :) we can do it!!!

Yey ... sleeping, panic, coco, polly, over, oraiste .... glad u have joined :) good luck!!

I've not been doing too badly so far this week. Eaten quite well and trained Monday and Tuesday. Really feel like I should go to the gym today but lacking motivation. I am going climbing tonight, but there will be a lot of friends there so I suspect there will be more chatting than climbing. Need to find some motivation. Might go and check under the sofa.

OurMiracle1106 · 23/08/2017 11:30

I started my journey almost 9 months ago. I'm 2.5 stone lighter but would like to lose more. So I am happy to be your buddy and keep you motivated. I did the st Christopher's fun walk in May in loving memory of my parents.

Ideally I would like to lose just over another stone or so 😊 But am now within healthy bmi only just but who cares

ohlittlepea · 23/08/2017 11:36

I would like to join. 4st to loose. I want to try for another baby but domt want to be obese and pregnant :)

MulhuddartDrive · 23/08/2017 16:22

Dh is away this week so I'm grabbing exercise while I can. I had to pick up school stuff for dd, so I walked at lunchtime which was 4.5k in about 40 mins. Then walked to do camp pick up which was a slow 25 followed by playing football on the green with ds. All in all I've got 11k steps done so far today, with probably 2k more before bed. I also had lovely granary toast at a breakfast meeting this morning instead of a huge scone, so I didn't feel as bad when I had a Feast icecream for my lunch Blush. Roast chicken with veg for dinner.

I weighed myself this morning and I'm 2kg down from last week. I know about half that is period bloat, but it's a good incentive to keep going.

9, I'm using a free app, 8fit, which seems to be good for workouts. They are well structured, can be done at home without equipment and are short!

Itscurtainsforyou · 23/08/2017 17:49

Please count me in too. I'm in a similar situation to the OP (but I'm signed up to do a half marathon from scratch next spring Shock)

Rightsaidmabel · 23/08/2017 19:13

What a great idea ! Moral support works for me; please count me in..
I have 2 stone to loose.
Reactivated My Fitness Pal app this evening.I think I'll aim for a once weekly weigh in.If I do it daily I tend to have conversations with myself rationalising every bump up or down in the light of the day before and that's just not valid.Have lately been eating 3 proper meals a day and stopped chocolate and lost 5lbs in 6 weeks. No Marathons here but just more active every day, with Mumsnet encouragement I feel I can do it.

gingergenius · 23/08/2017 19:15

My youngest is 9 and the pounds have crept on! I need to lose about 1.5 stones. I'm in!!!
