To be sick and tired of women's concerns being silenced?

Obviously I wouldn't dream of doing a TAAT.

But is anyone else as furious as I am that every time people try to raise legitimate concerns about the legislation about self-identity and transgender people, the whole discussion is shut down?

There's this undertone of 'Oh, you can't say that!!!' when people state scientific facts.

And at the same time, there's this myth that 'MN is one of the only places you can actually discuss the transgender debate openly.' Like fuck it is.

Your average person on the street isn't intimately acquainted with the madness of the debate and will have no qualms about stating facts. You see it on the comments after those nonsense news articles ("Man gives birth"). When you explain the situation to novices (as I did to my husband) they are gobsmacked. They had no idea that it was somehow a hate crime to be literate in biology.

And that's part of the problem; this hushing up colludes with the idea that people are saying something controversial. The debate stays secret and the tide of common sense never comes.

So sick of it.

What I do have issue with is other women speaking for me about 'women's concerns'.

I agree. I have no concerns about trans women, and I find women who do to be silly, hysterical and ridiculous in the extreme. In fact, I'd go as far as to say they give women a bad name. All this nonsense about "women's spaces". For goodness' sake, people need to grow up. Do they really assume trans women are out to attack them? It's pathetic! It's like men who think all gay men must fancy them just because they're men.

People just need to grow up and stop being such silly little scaredy-cats over nothing. Didn't your parents teach you anything?

Showandtell · 20/08/2017 11:18

Why are TAATs so bad anyway Confused

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 20/08/2017 11:18

Biological reality is not rude, it is just naming facts, that's all.

I think forcing people to lie is really rude and somewhat sinister.

CosmicPineapple · 20/08/2017 11:19

All of the above has just been done to me in this thread.

Where?
I have gone back through the thread and I really cannot see where posters have

Infantilising you.

Mocked you.

Belittled you.

You only joined at 11:09 and I cannot see any posts directed at you which do the above Confused

SummerflowerXx · 20/08/2017 11:19

No Biber sex is more complicated than my binary male/female - I agree. There are real issues for those born intersex.

This is not gender, though. Gender is a social construct, not a biological issue.

Are you very young? Are you often like this about people who don't feel the same as you about things?

maxthemartian · 20/08/2017 11:19

dolcezza Do you have any actual points to make or are you just enjoying berating people who disagree with you using sexist language like hysterical?

JigglyTuff · 20/08/2017 11:19

Oh bless, the misogynist slurs have begun Hmm

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 20/08/2017 11:20

Cat, they will be the fastest women or the fastest girl. That is why they compete with their own sex.

dolcezza99 · 20/08/2017 11:22

Yes: my point is that I think women who are "afraid" of trans women are silly and hysterical and rather pathetic and this silly "feminist" movement against trans women does not speak for me as a woman. Which bit of that did you have difficulty understanding, exactly?

Catandtwodogs · 20/08/2017 11:22

So calling me silly isn't mocking or infantilising.

Yeah right. 🤣🤣🤣 nice try.

Catandtwodogs · 20/08/2017 11:23

But they will never be the fastest. So it's pointless anyway.

CosmicPineapple · 20/08/2017 11:24

dolcezza99 use of such mysoginistic language is a great example of trying to silence women.
I suspect you are also trying to cause the thread to decend in to a bufight to force deletion.

maxthemartian · 20/08/2017 11:24

That's not a point that's an ad hominem attack dolce. You need to improve your communication skills.

Showandtell · 20/08/2017 11:25

I understand completely what you said. I think the 'silly feminists' will cope without you Smile

Catandtwodogs · 20/08/2017 11:26

Funny how no one is calling out the language used against me

CosmicPineapple · 20/08/2017 11:26

That would be a bit silly wouldn't it.

You were not called silly at all Cat

However somebody above who stands of the same opinion as you has just called us silly. So how do you feel about that?

dolcezza99 · 20/08/2017 11:26

Not at all. It's my opinion, to which I'm perfectly entitled. I think women like this are silly and ridiculous and frankly give women a bad name. Like silly women who screech at spiders. Why is that so hard to understand?

I'm not trying to silence anyone; I have a perfectly valid opinion. That you don't agree with it is neither here nor there.

ladyballs · 20/08/2017 11:26

YANBU OP.

CosmicPineapple · 20/08/2017 11:27

Funny how no one is calling out the language used against me

Where?
Honestly where?

maxthemartian · 20/08/2017 11:27

I'm rather fond of spiders Smile

Catandtwodogs · 20/08/2017 11:27

The inference is there. It's clear in the mocking nasty tone.

I think you don't really want my opinion.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 20/08/2017 11:27

The movement isn't against anyone, it's for women's rights. Feminists wish to preserve female rights.

Women should be allowed to choose a same sex partner without harassment. Women should compete with their own sex in sport. Girls and women should have the right to privacy and dignity, same sex hospital wards, dv safe houses. Rape and murder should be recorded by sex, not gender identity. Female prisoners should not have to shower in front of men.

Feminists care abut women and girls, they really care. Some people don't care which is their choice.

Showandtell · 20/08/2017 11:28

Women who 'screech at spiders' do not give women a bad name. You sound very confused dolce
