To tell her to piss off?

I enjoy knitting as a hobby and will occasionally knit gifts for people (if I am in the mood for that kind of project and have the money/time). For example, socks and scarfs. I recently starting knitting the occasional baby cardy, I gave one to one of my brothers for his baby etc.

Recently a pregnant cousin was talking to me and said ''I can't wait to see what you knit for mine). I told her I don't really have the time (I'm studying) etc but she told me she would pay for the wool so it'll be okay Hmm She keeps bringing it up when I see her.

AIBU thinking if I say I haven't got time you can't just expect someone to make something for you and to tell her to sod off? I've had a few friends/family now telling me they want me to knit them socks/scarves etc and they will pay for the wool as if that covers all of the work so I'm getting really annoyed.

Op, really sorry she has kicked off. What a brat!!!

On the plus side, you definitely don't have to make it now as she is being a dick 😜 Every cloud has a silver lining!!! x x x

(If you do feel bad, could you knock up something that's easier to make for when the baby is actually born?) x

Xchanged I offered to make her little baby booties instead but she kicked off about that too so she's getting fuck all now.

Salta that looks amazingly intricate!

A friend of mine from many years ago used to make lace. I would sit mesmerised by the flashing of the bobbins as she worked. There's a very hypnotic quality to it, and I suspect I'd find watching weaving to be similarly comforting.

Salta I am Shock

That's amazing!

Op, don't blame you! How ungrateful! X

AvoidingCallenetics · 23/08/2017 13:48

Salta, that does look very impressive.

Will you make me something Wink

I sew and once had a supervisor who thought she was bestowing the greatest gift ever on me by asking me to take up about 10 pairs of trousers for her. Hmm "but you LOVE sewing?" and "Oh but I'll pay for the thread" were a couple of the responses to my "fuck No thanks" response.

I learned the hard way giving quilts I made to folk who just couldn't see beyond 'blanket'. I would only make something for someone who understood that my quilts involve months of work and hundreds of pounds.

Asking someone to do sewing alterations is like asking Michaelangelo to paint your kitchen magnolia.

IncyWincyGrownUp my mum used to make lace and it was indeed mesmerising! She used to make all the beady bits on the tops of her bobbins by hand too.
I did a little project one and it's actually easier than it looks, like knitting you learn the "stitches" then just follow a pattern.
