This thread has everything: gin cocktail recipes and Shakespeare. The rest of MN is redundant, no?

conserveisposhforjam lovely Smile and ......

^O, swear not by the moon, th' inconstant moon,
That monthly changes in her circle orb,
Lest that thy love prove likewise variable.
Don't swear by the moon^.

And King Lear: mad, old, sad, unloved, surrounded by family members who want to benefit from his lunacy, and destruction of his own kingdom. Mid madness (like the Phoenix 'speech'),

^I will have such revenges on you both
That all the world shall—I will do such things—
What they are yet I know not, but they shall be
The terrors of the earth. You think I’ll weep?
No, I’ll not weep^.

Sleipnir that makes me think of covfefe all over again. At least that time we had Spicer to inform us, now we have to struggle all by ourselves...but never fear! The Orange One is here! to show us that his angry rambling rhetoric is funny

“You will have a spasm of violence in this country, and insurrection, like you’ve never seen.”

That's not a prediction. Its a pure threat.

Conserve I like the cut of your jib. Please stick around.
Can you imagine if someone had predicted how the first 7 months of DT's presidency would be a year ago? They would have been called paranoid and ridiculous and sensationalist. When more and more people are openly doubting his sanity and someone like James Clapper, who knows what he's talking about, is saying that there's a real risk that 45 could start a nuclear war in a fit of pique, the GOP need to listen and start putting the safety of their country before their party.
Despite all his blustering, I think 45 knows that the net is closing. A previous link referred to him as being like a cornered animal who will do anything to take attention away from the Russia thing, even if that means starting a war.
The evidence is stacking up that he is not well. He is a paranoid narcissist and there is a significant chance that he is in the early stages of dementia. This man baby has access to nuclear codes.
For the love of all that is holy, will someone in the GOP step up and say 'Enough is enough?'
We cannot get desensitised to this and see it as the new normal. I had a great uncle who actually had a lot in common with 45. Mostly, we just used to sit and patiently listen to him rambling on about his fictitious amazing achievements and accounts of how everyone had it in for him while rolling our eyes at other relatives.
Trump is not an eccentric uncle who everyone just humours and says 'Oh, you know what he's like'. He's the FUCKING PRESIDENT OF THE USA.

Sleipnir I love your name (studied Old Norse long, long ago).

Shakespeare and gin are good lenses for resistance.
Plus follow the money and focus on Russia.

saffronwblue · 25/08/2017 02:50

I keep thinking about this. www.abc.net.au/news/2017-08-24/clinton-in-book-says-trump-debate-stalking-made-her-skin-crawl/8836782

If Hillary Clinton, with decades of high level service and seniority, was caught by the decision of whether to be calm, professional and a 'good girl', rather than yell and scream at this hideous man invading her space, what hope does any other female on the planet have? If e speak up, we are shrill and hysterical. If we let it go past, we are letting them get away with it. I found it profoundly depressing that someone of Clinton's stature was fighting this tired old battle too.

So agree with this Mrs Hoolies. Before the actual election there was probably I dunno... 30 threads or more, similar to this, all linked but they were peppered with the Trump fanbase in particular Claig and a few of his/her cronies.

Apart from Claig's annoying rally cries and repetition us against Trump were derided again and again for imagining that Trump would be anything but the best POTUS ever. From Day One. I made predictions (if I had more time I would go back and find them) of how it would pan out and it was similar to what is happening now but I was soffed at for suggesting this. Claig went apeshit when I suggested his supporters were in a cult. I would like her to come back and justify what is happening now, I just can't imagine what she could say to make this grotesque situation alright.
