I'm paying attention.

Sorry. That should read 'from coal executives'.

Roussette · 22/08/2017 21:59

Yes agree MrsHoolies do think of all those marches... every one far more than has ever marched for Trump or was at his Inauguration. Also just think about how many bots are on his twitter feed - there was an article recently and this was written in May...
In January, journalist Yashar Ali ran an audit on Trump's Twitter account and found that 68 percent of his then-20 million followers were real. Now he's at 30 million followers, but only 51 percent are real, which means of 10 million followers Trump has gained since January, about 8.3 million are fake

I read some of his twitter feeds and only yesterday he retweeted someone who bigged him up and made a complete fool of himself because it was a bot. This isn't the first time either.

What I'm trying to say is... I honestly think his fanbase is shrinking and the resistance movement just keeps soldiering on and won't give up.

Re-delurking to add my support for this thread. It is great to have one place to turn to keep updated on the important things in life. I had a blinding realisation during a bout of insomnia last night, that in amongst all this protesting, tweeting and general chaos, Trump is actually meant to be running a country. I was so rabbit in the headlights that my focus was on the smoke and mirrors and keeping up to date with the latest outrage. What has he actually achieved in the last six months?

badbadhusky · 22/08/2017 22:10

Welcome CornwallLass. Again, it is great seeing so many new posters and delurkers. As Jo Cox would have said, we have more in common than divides us and it is good to see there are more people out there quietly taking it all in.

Lweji · 22/08/2017 22:12

What has he actually achieved in the last six months?

To resurrect the civil rights movement?

badbadhusky · 22/08/2017 22:17

Nice one, Lweji. Grin

TheHeraldOfAndraste · 22/08/2017 22:31

I know. I should come to the thread first and foremost. Grin . Joking aside, this is the best collated, objective resource I've seen without having to wade through the #MAGA fuckwits.

Lweji I read in the Independent that he's made more than 1,000 false claims since taking office. That's an achievement. Of sorts.

Just finished catching up. We're camping on the coast overlooking the Pacific. I've taken the last few days 'off' to decompress and relax (aka Gin therapy).

Even amidst the latest madness I find that my optimism has been renewed and I'm ready for the fight (i.e. working with my local Dem Committee for 2018).

We may feel like little David facing giant Goliath, but we need to always remember who won that fight!

cozietoesie · 22/08/2017 22:39

He had a minority vote, Across. Never forget that. Smile

(Glad to hear that the Gin therapy is working, though. Grin)

MsHooliesCardigan · 22/08/2017 22:41

Thanks everyone I will pull myself together. I went on the anti Brexit march and the anti racism march and they were really inspirational. I will pick myself up and fight another day.

You're not untogether. I think that we all have odd moments of despair - we just pick ourselves up and go on.

Like you're doing. Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 22/08/2017 22:47

MsHoolie, strongly recommend Gin therapy for when you get down-hearted. Works better when combined with large doses of sea air and dog kisses (preferably Dachshund) Wink

badbadhusky · 22/08/2017 22:48

That's a very specific prescription, Across Grin

cozietoesie · 22/08/2017 22:49

And a good one. Grin

cozietoesie · 22/08/2017 22:53

I think that we should bestow a name on that potion. (Gin, Ribera and fizzy water.) I look forward to hearing about the first person to go into a bar and ask loftily for an 'AcrossthePond'. Grin

cozietoesie · 22/08/2017 22:54

Ribena. (I have a dictatorial autocorrect. Wink)

cozietoesie · 22/08/2017 22:56

Not to say a cultured one! Grin

badbadhusky · 22/08/2017 22:57

My nearest John Lewis sells a gin with plum and vanilla in it. I nearly bought some this evening. I'm going to have to go back and get some at the weekend.

cozietoesie · 22/08/2017 22:58

Indeed you are. Wink

MsHooliesCardigan · 22/08/2017 23:00

Thanks everyone. I really am so grateful for these threads. We shall overcome.

AcrossthePond55 · 22/08/2017 23:02

I was going to suggest we name it the 'Trump Sucks Donkey Dicks', but I like your suggestion better, cozie. Also less likely to start a bar fight when you order one at the top of your voice in a crowded pub. Grin

I'm honoured to have a drink named after me!

badbadhusky · 22/08/2017 23:04

'Fuel for the Resistance' has a certain ring to it too.

cozietoesie · 22/08/2017 23:31

It does. Smile But having already named the drink, you shall have to do some experimentation to find a second combination.

Sorry to load this task on you! Grin

badbadhusky · 22/08/2017 23:33

I can think of worse assignments. Wink

saffronwblue · 22/08/2017 23:36

Just hope our livers outlast his reign so we can enjoy the aftermath.
