Just that really, I just feel that sometimes everything feels like it set up to help the dull.. Hang around for ages and you get promoted, don't have any interests or a social life, get a great credit rating, stay in one house for years and all the banks trust you, don't ever stick out, don't ever get hassled etc etc etc. .

This has for to be the most pretentious load of bollocks I have ever seen on here. You sound like a right hipster dickhead. But sounds like that is your "thing".

MummytoCSJH · 12/08/2017 23:33

Not sure this thread went the way you wanted it to Hmm
Yes, you are being unreasonable. People work for their money, regardless of whether you think their routine is dull. It is also none of your business what other people do with their earned money. You are clearly just jealous. What a shame that all of your (obviously not dull) energy is being put into feeling envy.

sweetbabboo · 12/08/2017 23:33

When I was 18 I was appalled by my older colleague telling me she was content. Content with her job, her little family, her whole life, it all seemed so tragic to my 18 year old self. Now, at the age of 32 I totally get what she was saying. The drama and shenanigans that seem exciting and spontaneous at that age are a fucking bore at my age. I don't want to live a life of unpredictability and chaos. I had my wild years. And now I'm happy.
I'm totally envisioning OP as some aged raver who clings on to their supposed coolness.

DonkeyOil · 12/08/2017 23:36

And I fancied an out there deeply cynical twisted will self novel and the local crappie bookshop only had the book of Dave

Let 'order it on Amazon' be your new motto!

trixymalixy · 12/08/2017 23:36

I guess you'd call me a dullard excel monkey. I do agree it's extremely dull spending my six figure salary. All those holidays are just dull dull dull.

I'd much rather be exciting like you OP, you sound much happier with your non dull existence.

KurriKurri · 12/08/2017 23:38

ScaryClown is hammering and scratching on Kylie's door shouting 'Partaaaaaaaaaaaaay',

Kylie has put in her earplugs and is sitting in bed with a mug of Horlicks and a copy of The People's Friend.

scaryclown · 12/08/2017 23:42

Yes but advance ordering on Amazon of books you want to capture fleeting glimpses of moods beyond consciousness is impractical.. If I order on Amazon for a mood I'm in now, it is going to be boring and unspontaneous by the time it arrives, hence making the exercise futile. Shops are for shopping. Amazon is just Excel with pictures..

OP I'm guessing you are the sort who describes yourself as 'Oh, I'm mad, me.'

Yeah. No one cares.

All night bookshops in your wee village not a thing. You should get a dull Kindle.

Gosh you are going to miss out on such a lot if you cant possible read/listen to/eat something/see a show/ if its not available right there and then when you want it, how tragic the world doesnt revolve around you, you should complain to someone.

ExplodedCloud · 12/08/2017 23:48

I thought this thread was a bit overly me, me, me. However with the last few comments from the OP, I am now a little concerned. Does anyone else think this? OP how are you?

I want it, and I want it NOW!
Have you considered Amazon Prime same day delivery?

You can't catch any kind of glimpses, fleeting or otherwise of things that are beyond consciousness. And if you are looking for insight you certainly won't find it in the pretentious ramblings of Will Self. Maybe that's where you are going wrong.

Or maybe you are in fact, Mr.Self himself - I'm sure he thinks he's partied with Kylie.
