CFN Thread #9 (Better call Planning)

Okay so I wasn't going to post until I'd had some kind of resolution. However, planning called today to ask if they could access my garden on Friday as they need to do some "further investigation" and have another planning official who will be there to oversee it??

They wouldn't tell me over the phone what it was about (it wasn't Nice Planning Lady, it was someone I hadn't spoken with before)

Thanks pp for the thread title - which coincidentally was very apt!

No sign of CFN/ builders etc.

There's now a sign up saying
NO ENTRY IN TO PRIVATE GARDEN
CONTACT SOLICITORS NAME if you require further information.

Excellent update Wattyyy!

FanwankTheAbsurd · 04/08/2017 15:50

I used to work in LA planning and construction - with the building being listed, the planning department will need to instruct specialist contractors to undertake the reinstatement work. Specialist contractors do NOT come cheap. At all. Plus, CFN will be hit with fines and planning fees. I'd be surprised if it didn't come in higher than £10K.

Bwahahahaha 😂

ElfrideSwancourt · 04/08/2017 15:55

Fantastic news @WhatIsThisWatt GrinGrinWineGinCake

HashiAsLarry · 04/08/2017 15:58

Winefor watt
A great day for planners!

StormTreader · 04/08/2017 16:00

They'll definitely be made to pay for it I'd think, otherwise they might just get it knocked through again once everyone has gone!

Slimthistime · 04/08/2017 16:01

I bet the CFNs will end up being those wankers who tell the story in the pub like "NEVER buy in a listed building, you won't BELIEVE what happened to us..."

shockthemonkey · 04/08/2017 16:02

Here's a flag from across the Narrow Sea.

Our lady Danaerys rules over us and hates anyone who refuses to bend the knee.

We all support you here and this very night will have some champers to celebrate your excellent update.

When we have scones, it's jam first.

Excellent news @whatisthiswatt CFN won't be doing this again.

SANGRIA

SHE DOES NOT WEIGH ANYTHING, so I've done my best here.

2 bottles of red wine (Rioja)
Cup of brandy (yes CUP) she doesn't mess about 😂
Cup of sparking water (I'd probably put in more than a cup 😂 she says some people use soda) but you don't have to.
A little dark brown sugar (teaspoon?)
2 large oranges, squeezed and cut into wedges
1 lemon and 1 lime, as above
De- seeded cherries, halved (about ten she says, also "you must squeeze" them. Haha she is hilarious.

Must be chilled overnight, she also sometimes soaks the fruit in the brandy. SHE SPENDS 2 WHOLE DAYS MAKING THIS THING 😂

If you want to drink it straightaway do not have time to waste the red wine must be chilled.

Argh sorry if that's really muddled she's trying to talk to me at the same time. Hope I haven't missed anything out/ understood correctly 😂

I said to her are you sure there's not more fruit? "No if you want to taste the alcohol"

Yay! Come up pants time for CFNs. I'm sure Wattyyy wouldn't want CFNs traipsing through her property to access the repairs and she would surely also be entitled to nice bit of compensation too.

daisypond · 04/08/2017 16:10

Would the bill be for the CFN personally, or would it be a bill on the actual property? Just wondering if the CFN might be attempting to sell the property first and scarper, leaving any new (hopefully nice) neighbours with an unexpected bill.

mumdebump · 04/08/2017 16:12

North Yorkshire here. It's taken me so long to catch up to the end of the thread to post damn work real life getting in the way. Excellent news Watty.
Yes to Bill Nighy playing the senior heritage/planning man.
Can I add to the many who have applauded Schaden and Judas and the many other talented MNers who have made me snort out loud with laughter much to the annoyance of DH who was trying to sleep whilst I caught up on all 9 threads

WhatIsThisWatt
This is where you now decide how much inconvenience and access fees you are going to charge.

You need to start an itemised invoice 😃
Inform the planners so they can include in their charges plan.

Back date too and include all relevant expenses
X phone calls @x per minute
Access to planners @ £x per hour or part hour
Access to builders ditto
Trauma @ £x
Bottles of wine from ken @ £x
Spangran airfare
Etc etc

Ok I might have got carried away but you absolutely should bill for the access and inconvenience Grin

Gramgram · 04/08/2017 16:20

Yippee, and thank you for the recipe and the update.

Mrbluethecatt · 04/08/2017 16:25

@WhatIsThisWatt usually the council will do the work and then invoice the person. If they fail to pay the council can then apply for a charge to be put on the property with interest. This means when the property is sold the council gets their money back.

This is wholly separate to the potential for criminal charges which could result in an unlimited fine and/or up to 2 years in prison.

RiversrunWoodville · 04/08/2017 16:27

Excellent update and amazed and impressed at how fast planners have taken action

nonfatnofoamlatte · 04/08/2017 16:30

I'm so happy it worked out for you!! Maybe you can relax a little this weekend and enjoy your Gran (and sangria and paella)!

UmbrellasKeepFallingOnMyHead · 04/08/2017 16:32

Had no idea that North Yorkshire had its own flag.

SapphireStrange · 04/08/2017 16:48

£10,000!!! Fucking eejits.

randomchap · 04/08/2017 16:49

Top work by the planning dept. Great news.

Did they say anything about the dodgy builders? Will anything happen to them? They should also be looking at a fine surely
