CFN Thread #9 (Better call Planning)

WhatIsThisWatt · 02/08/2017 18:24

Okay so I wasn't going to post until I'd had some kind of resolution. However, planning called today to ask if they could access my garden on Friday as they need to do some "further investigation" and have another planning official who will be there to oversee it??

They wouldn't tell me over the phone what it was about (it wasn't Nice Planning Lady, it was someone I hadn't spoken with before)

Thanks pp for the thread title - which coincidentally was very apt!

No sign of CFN/ builders etc.

There's now a sign up saying
NO ENTRY IN TO PRIVATE GARDEN
CONTACT SOLICITORS NAME if you require further information.

Amazing update!! So glad for you that they are taking it seriously. It must have been (and still be so stressful) but at least you know that they are going to resolve it, and that it seems to be a priority for them.

Would love to be a fly on the wall when CFN get that bill.

WhatIsThisWatt · 04/08/2017 14:36

I forgot to tell you what SpanGran was up to too much excitement all round

She was in her element, hovering, jumping in to ask questions, generally being her typical self. She "guided" them out with the brick then loitered outside chatting. I watched with horror, I couldn't get her to come back in 😂

Maybe they've taken the large piece of brickwork so that they can source matching bricks and confirm the mortar that was used.

Better than extracting a brick from your own intact wall Wink

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/08/2017 14:37

And that's on top of what they would have paid to knock the hole in the wall and insert the patio doors in the first place.

And a FINE?!

Surely such wanton vandalism deserves a FINE of SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF OUR ENGLISH POUNDS!

blankface · 04/08/2017 14:39

Yay Watty, excellent visit!

I believe the Planners can organise remedial works to be carried out, have the work done by their own contractors after giving CFN due notice, then bill CFN directly for the work.

CFN can volunteer to do the work using their own contractors, but the Planners will be all over them making sure everything has ticked their boxes, often it needs a specialist builder, not Bodgeit and Scarper who knocked the wall down in the first place.

It's an absolute age since i dealt with things like this, but memory says if CFN can't or won't pay, the planners may be able to put a 'charge' on the property, meaning they get their money back when it's sold, or if they are feeling very arsey, could force the sale so they are repaid.
It's all down to how CFN behaves now. A large apology all round right now could save them no end of hassle in the future.

mumeemoo · 04/08/2017 14:40

Yayyyy brilliant update and positive news. I'm at work been taking sneaky look for updates between meetings. Right. Must focus on work now. Much Wine for you and spangran now I think!

Northend77 · 04/08/2017 14:41

thank you Watt. Such a shame they've ruined an historical building and for absolutely no gain at all

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/08/2017 14:42

Ah Vango

Vlad and Vanka currently in US chokey undergo full body search. Much humiliating. Maybe press some RED BUTTONS when get home Russia.

Vlad very, very pissed. Wait he find out what he is miss. He incandescent! Think Little Donald not have Russian playdate with little pals again.

Oh no! Hahahahahahaha

Vango · 04/08/2017 14:42

Thanks Schadenfreude. I'm confident that you'll keep it to yourself.

I'm pleased for you Wattyy. Sounds like it won't be as drawn out an affair as we'd previously anticipated. And you should also expect that your garden will be made good at the end of the building work.

RudeDog · 04/08/2017 14:42

Best update ever - please keep it going - it's been fabulous!!

WhatIsThisWatt · 04/08/2017 14:45

I honestly couldn't have hoped for a better response from the planning dept. They have been fantastic. It's good to experience some top professionalism from people who actually care - you normally always hear about the negative stuff.

Excellent update these planners certainly don't mess around.

HazelBite · 04/08/2017 14:45

I'm curious to know if the other set of doors are still in the flat?

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 04/08/2017 14:46

Wonderful news!!

FUNM · 04/08/2017 14:46

Oh dearie dearie me what an expensive window lol

So the CFB and CFN haven't been sighted since they were staring back at you and thought you were speaking a foreign language?? Or did I miss something?
excellent update

DudeHatesHisCarryOut · 04/08/2017 14:48

That's brilliant news! Aren't you pleased you bought a listed building now?????

I hope SpanGran is around with CFNs turn up. She'll make sure they get the message!

FUNM · 04/08/2017 14:50

When the work is finished and the window back to its original state, you will have to invite ALL the planning dept and Ken round for a slap up paella and sangria in the garden and celebrate well into the night - when the CFN are home - imagine the look on their faces lol

RTKangaMummy · 04/08/2017 14:51

will be really funny if they employed the builders to do it all and they come home not aware its been fixed expecting to see a nice new set of doors only to find the window still there ( been fixed)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 04/08/2017 14:51

Phew, what a good result... I can go on holiday now!!

ASDismynormality · 04/08/2017 14:52

10k Shock and that's just to repair the damage they have done- wonder how much they will pay in fines and legal fees!

annielouise · 04/08/2017 14:52

Great news something is happening! The update we've all been waiting for. £10k! Wow.

MadamePomfrey · 04/08/2017 14:52

4/08/2017 this date needs to be marked in the future I see parades fun fairs maybe a national holiday today's the day cheeky fuckers get justice now what to call the holiday 🤔🤔🤔

Allthebestnamesareused · 04/08/2017 14:53

They will have taken the brickwork away so that their appointed restorer will either use as much as he can or be able to match it in properly.

As a pp said they can get the work done and invoice the CFN.

And Fine them.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/08/2017 14:54

Neighbours will be wishing that they still ahd the window & bricks

They'll have plenty of bricks - I should think they'll be shittingthem for months!
