CFN Thread #9 (Better call Planning)

Okay so I wasn't going to post until I'd had some kind of resolution. However, planning called today to ask if they could access my garden on Friday as they need to do some "further investigation" and have another planning official who will be there to oversee it??

They wouldn't tell me over the phone what it was about (it wasn't Nice Planning Lady, it was someone I hadn't spoken with before)

Thanks pp for the thread title - which coincidentally was very apt!

No sign of CFN/ builders etc.

There's now a sign up saying
NO ENTRY IN TO PRIVATE GARDEN
CONTACT SOLICITORS NAME if you require further information.

great news!!! Wonder if the CFN will ever come back!!

Vango · 04/08/2017 15:25

Aidan Turner can play The Gardener (who will arrive to restore the garden post-building work but will need to pop round frequently to discuss plans).

WhatIsThisWatt it's never too early for Sangria, it's a day drink as it is in fact orange juice Wink thems the rules!

Witchend · 04/08/2017 15:28

What would the world do without Mn to advise on so many sticky issues?

Or would more work have been done by many mn users over the last week or so as they wait with bated breath for updates?

Yay! Whoo! And similar celebratory noises. So pleased, @WhatisthisWatt !

Cromwell1536 · 04/08/2017 15:29

Well done, Watty. Good outcome!

Tom Hardy for shirtless stone mason, please. And Colin Farrell, somewhere, anywhere. Colin not the most bodacious of names, I know, but he seems to make up for it somehow.

threedayrule · 04/08/2017 15:29

I imagine that the planning dept will put it back together and then invoice CFN as due to it being a listed building I assume the priority is to try and restore it to its former state. They aren't likely to entrust that task to people who hired cowboys to demolish it in the first place, especially if said neighbours are ignoring the correspondence they have sent.

Well done watty on progress made. Glad planning are being great about it all and I hope it's restored asap.

Nicky333 · 04/08/2017 15:30

Yippee! a) the planners have been and are going to kick ass and b) I'm all caught up. I've been two days behind all along but when I was about 5 pages into this thread, I saw that it had started moving fast again so knew that the planners had been.

Well done for keeping your composure over all this, Watt.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 04/08/2017 15:31

Lweji I'm sure you're right about the permitted development on boundary thing, but as certain posters have said, Some chancers will try and flout the law and hope to get away with it.
At least Whattyy doesn't need to fight with CFN cos she's got the Gods of Planning on her side (and possibly Bill and Eric to rebuild the wall...)

jojomo · 04/08/2017 15:32

Been lurking since the beginning. Just de-lurking to say it's not too early for wine at all.

As you were.

Lweji · 04/08/2017 15:34

BreakfastAtSquiffany
True.

Scaredycat3000 · 04/08/2017 15:35

Phew, result on both CFN threads. My faith in human nature is still hanging on, I was beginning to think life was now only about who can shout the loudest for longest, and being a decent human being was fast becoming a mugs game. Certainly today is about the right things happening to the right people.

BlooBagoo · 04/08/2017 15:35

Fantastic update! Hopefully sounds like they'll sort it out then just chase up CFNs for the costs. This is one building project I hope comes in way over budget too. Grin

Sangria for everyone! Cheers! WineWineWine

I do also hope planning have left another lovely letter for them, what a weekend it would be if CFNs showed up and they got to meet SpanGran and her paella pan.

prettybird · 04/08/2017 15:37

I wonder of the speed they're planning on rectifying it is due to concerns over structural integrity. If there is no RSJ for the patio doors, then the only way to put one in to make it safe would cause even more damage to the listed building. Much better to put back in the arched window which provides its own support.

Fantastic news. Wineand Flowers all round - and no, it's not too early Grin

AhhhhThatsBass · 04/08/2017 15:37

When this is over, I'm going to feel bereft. We need to have a (re)union of everyone on this thread. With special guests SpanGran (I missed a few middle threads and think she's your granny from Spain but can't be sure?), Ken from the shop, NDN who fancies OP and most importantly the elderly korean lady.
Bouncy castle/sangria/paella are all mandadory. Who's in?

mistlethrush · 04/08/2017 15:38

CFN should be able to do it themselves (as Blank said) but woud have to detail exactly what they were doing and the materials would have to be suitable (including the window). However, if they don't do it wihtin a certain period - or indeed are not in contact, the LPA can get the work done and bill them (this is likely to be why it would cost such a bomb - you would be able to get reputable builders to do it appropriately for less, but as soon as the LPA are involved, prices rise!)

thenightsky · 04/08/2017 15:39

I'm supposed to be going out to do a big food shop, but hanging on for sangria recipe so I can buy ingredients for that at the same time. We will be raising glass this weekend to you Watty!

Tavimama · 04/08/2017 15:41

Just had to de-lurk (first ever post), to congratulate you and to let everyone know how much I have loved this thread. Looking forward to more Smile

LurkingHusband · 04/08/2017 15:42

On another note, is it too early for wine?

Is it ever ?!

Can't wait for the Christmas Street Party, or meet the new neighbour drinks!! A whole new thread material.

Mrscropley · 04/08/2017 15:44

Can they check brick for dna /fingerprints? Cowboy builders may have been on - well-Cowboy builders!!
Maybe you could apply for a cash reward if they appear on crime stoppers?

Tiger44 · 04/08/2017 15:46

What a fabulous response from the planning department. I would assume they will get the work done and charge back to CFN. They will want it done to exact specifications. Here's Clevedon's crest 😁
