Women- how much facial hair do you have?

I am a white 30 year old female and have a beard,it's on the front of my neck and a bit on my chin. I have had hormone tests and nothing untoward, but don't understand why I have such horrible facial hair. Sorry, TMI, but it's like pubic hair growing out of my neck. It's mainly isolated to a 4 patch under t chin and it's awful! I have to pluck every day to keep on top of it.

I haven't gone down the electrolysis road yet but will look into it but wanted to know if anyone else had the same problem? I know people who have the odd hair but this is a whole patch.

Me! I have a beard to rival Merlins, but I also have PCOS so that's the cause for me.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/08/2017 16:15

Not uncommon. Mine started at 30.

Jayne35 · 02/08/2017 16:16

I have to pluck pretty much daily and they are like pubes! Mine is just post menopause though, keep looking at one of those hair removal systems that are around £200, would be worth it if pesky hairs stopped growing.

EivissaSenorita · 02/08/2017 16:17

I'm a white 37 year old female and have a beard, moustache, mono brow, everything. I can shave my armpits in the morning and have 5 o clock shadow 10 mins later 😬. I am cursed with very dark hair. I get my full face threaded and my foof waxed but just shave my legs.

Viserion · 02/08/2017 16:24

Get yourself a tweepi. This has revolutionised my beard removal!

I also have a Philips Likes which has worked really well for my lady tache, armpits and bikini line. Doesn't seem to have been so good for my beard and I can't be bothered with my legs so they get shaved.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/08/2017 16:35

God knows how you use that thing, I got one and it was eye watering!

Blink1982 · 02/08/2017 16:55

I use a lilibeth eyebrow shaper to get rid of my beard. I blame pregnancy for it.

Katedotness1963 · 02/08/2017 16:58

Thanks to PCOS I have a moustache that puts my teenaged sons to shame. Also get a few chin/neck hairs.

I wax my upper lip (every 2 weeks), cheeks (every month) and pluck my chin every few days. Its probably about 10 dark black course hairs dotted randomly in my chin region, rather than one patch or a beard! I also pluck nipple hairs (eww) and epilate my arms and garden path.
I didn't have high levels of testosterone in my blood, however I did have higher levels than average of something called DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) which is a precursor to testosterone levels and something to do with my adrenal glands. My doctor didn't seem to think it was a problem though, although distressing for me - the hairy nipple and garden path are the worst imo!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 02/08/2017 17:03

I have loads due to PCOS.
I am fair skinned and blonde, but my many chin hairs are thick, dark, wiry little bastards. I use tweezers on my chin, morning and night, and bleach my 'tache, where the hairs are finer. The bleach is obviously less good than tweezing, but it's a much lower-maintenance approach.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 02/08/2017 17:08

I have exactly the same as you OP and nothing untoward health wise in that manner.
I have a bit of a system - grow the hair, pluck it out (I've become fast and expert at this), just as I can feel the hair under the skin about to come through (when it has been a week or so) I shave the area and then use the Philips Lumea.
I am now at the stage where I do the shave of the few stubborn hairs every six weeks or so and top up with the lumea and no need for the plucking. To say it has changed my life would be an understatement.

BhajiAllTheWay · 02/08/2017 17:08

I have downy face hair which I don't really know how to get rid of.Plus some amazingly wiry chin hairs. My eyebrows seem to grow up my forehead tooConfused!! The rest of me is extremely hairy from the waist down so I think my face is the best of a bad lot!

CaveMum · 02/08/2017 17:11

I have PCOS too and have very dark hair. Thankfully my hair isn't too horrendous on my face but I have to have my top lip and eyebrows threaded every 3-4 weeks or it becomes noticeable.

In the summer months I have to shave underarms and legs every other day. They still need shaving in the winter obviously, but I'm more lax as they're not usually on show!

MissBax · 02/08/2017 17:15

Bhaji - I have downy hair on my cheeks and stubborn black hair on my chin and lip - there's no better feeling than when I wax my whole fax about once a month - my cheeks are SO smooth, it's the best feeling ever

coffeeslave · 02/08/2017 17:16

I have a moustache. Used to have it threaded but that gave me spots so now I just rock it.

I get the occasional chin hair too, and they're usually about half an inch long before I notice them!!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 02/08/2017 17:17

More than I'd like!
I've had a patch of dark hairs just on the left side of the moustache area since puberty.
Since then (36, fair skinned) I now have a matching patch the other side, a growing collection of thick black chin hairs and now I've got a couple of stubborn ones on my cheeks.
I used to spend ages squinting with tweezers, now I epilate. You'd think after plucking them enough times they'd get the message and not bother growing back.

SkintAsASkintThing · 02/08/2017 17:21

I have a full beard and almost constant, 5 o'clock shadow. I've been mistaken for a.man on more than one occasion.

It's humiliating and degrading, unlike hair loss there is no support available.

Annabelle4 · 02/08/2017 17:21

I need to pluck my chin, throat and jaw line daily. They're jet black and thick, even though I'm very fair. I'd probably have a full beard after a week if I left things alone Shock

I get my upper lip waxed once a month, it's finer hair but still noticeable.

My eyebrows grow at an alarming rate too and my beautician trims them with a scissors before waxing Shock

This all happened very suddenly at 30. Blood results were all normal and beautician assures me that it's very common Hmm

I have a real fear about being stranded on a desert island, or stuck somewhere without my tweezers, or being in a coma, and growing an actual beard 😭

chitofftheshovel · 02/08/2017 17:25

Mono brow, moustache made up of both fine, downy hair and thick black bastards with their roots attached to the back of my head, chin hairs with miracle growth (can check for them in the morning and that afternoon they're inch long thick dark bastards). Downy hair down my cheeks next to ears. Plus nipple hairs, hairy toes etc.

I could start at one end with the defuzzing, get to the other end and have to start again. Annoyingly my twin sister is pretty much hair free.

Singyourheartout · 02/08/2017 17:31

I'm 21. Have two small patching of hair either side of my chin that I have to tweezer. Side burns that now have suddenly started to spread to my cheeks. That in super worried about but the doctors won't give me appointment to discuss it. And a moustache that I have to use hair remover on.
I also have a treasure trail 😩😩

AuntMatilda · 02/08/2017 17:32

Two thick black hairs sticking out of my neck
Lots of fine black hairs too.

And lots of straight pubes on my chin. No hormonal issues. Meh. I've just got used to it.

TartanDMs · 02/08/2017 17:34

I could easily grow a beard. I have sideburns that grow so quickly I can't keep up with them and a moustache - I have given up all pretence of secrecy and now openly use DH's electric shaver almost every day. What I am finding more disturbing is that long white hairs are sprouting now from my chin and they don't start off shirt and grow, they seem just appear. I have PCOS though so it is no surprise.

EivissaSenorita · 02/08/2017 17:35

YY to the miracle grow hairs, I can check myself in the morning, muzzie free, check again in the evening to find Hercules Poirot staring back at me 🙄

BhajiAllTheWay · 02/08/2017 17:35

I actually feel better to know I'm not alone in waging the war against furriness ( although my long leg hair is great insulation in cold weather..Grin)
