Women- how much facial hair do you have?

I am a white 30 year old female and have a beard,it's on the front of my neck and a bit on my chin. I have had hormone tests and nothing untoward, but don't understand why I have such horrible facial hair. Sorry, TMI, but it's like pubic hair growing out of my neck. It's mainly isolated to a 4 patch under t chin and it's awful! I have to pluck every day to keep on top of it.

I haven't gone down the electrolysis road yet but will look into it but wanted to know if anyone else had the same problem? I know people who have the odd hair but this is a whole patch.

I would have basically a full beard under my chin and sideburn area if I didn't pluck or shave everyday. Also a pretty decent moustache that I get waxed or threaded about every 6 weeks

LittleWingSoul · 02/08/2017 17:40

There is a bit of a disconnect between how much pleasure I get from stroking my spiky chin hairs and how unsightly they are. I pluck the little buggers.

The rest are more or less under control after years of waxing/threading - I am mixed race latina so pretty hairy!

Augustwashout · 02/08/2017 17:40

sing

what do you mean docs wont give yo appt to discuss it, how do they - the reception know what on earth you want to discuss with doc and if you have tried and they have been rude you need to go back to speak to diff doc

Augustwashout · 02/08/2017 17:44

little agreed, Grin interesting point!

at least one can feel them as one gets older and its harder to see them.

MaidOfStars · 02/08/2017 17:44

I have downy face hair which I don't really know how to get rid of
Me too, like a fuzzy peach. It got worse when I lost weight. Am I trying to keep my face warm?

I have the normal eyebrow troubles, maybe a little thicker than some across the bridge of my nose. I pluck those every few days.

I have a few wispy moustache hairs that I only catch in certain lights and feel mortified that others may have noticed while I remained oblivious. I tweeze them when I see them but I'm not ashamed to run my husband's razor over my top lip if I can't be bothered to twist and turn in the mirror in eight different windows to catch them all.

That link to the twizzly thing - straight into my Amazon basket.

catsbeensickagain · 02/08/2017 17:52

Any advice on sideburn removal? I have moustache (little eyebrow shaver thingy), monobrow and chin hair (teeezers) but sideburns/cheek hair are too extensive for this and I worry about getting a funny shape to the bit where my sideburns meet my hair Grin

LittleWingSoul · 02/08/2017 17:53

I almost paid for one of those springy things on amazon off the back of a similar thread the other day until I realised I could imagine the exact pain sensation!

isaulte · 02/08/2017 17:59

Again off the back of the thread the other day, my twizzly thing arrived yesterday; I didn't think the pain was too bad but I did attempt using it first time after a hot shower. A random attempt today was a bit Shock. Moral: use after a hot shower (or a warm flannel on the skin).

I suffer really badly from spots/rashes from using facial wax strips, no such issue with this little thing.

MetalMidget · 02/08/2017 18:01

I've got PCOS, but fortunately only have the odd stiff wiry hair on the chin, and two longer dark hairs either side of my upper lip (like a catfish!) along with some downy hair. Oddly the two upper hairs are dark on the tip, but white at the root.

I pluck my chin, and get my upper lip waxed every month or so.

junebirthdaygirl · 02/08/2017 18:13

I had electrolysis. It works after a length of time. I had it for about 6 months every fortnight . Now its once a month.
I spent 1000 on laser but no good for me. First time l have has success is now with electrolysis.

Genghi · 02/08/2017 18:13

I'm Indian and I don't sympathise at all. :) 4 chin hairs is nothing!! Try getting your entire face waxed every 2 weeks (because even laser doesn't work) and then we'll talk!

ClopySow · 02/08/2017 18:17

Quite a lot, but it's much better since i got laser hair removal. I have PCOS so it always comes back, but i've had blasts of treatment over the last 5 years or so and it's nothing compared to what it was. If you have dark hair it's really worth it. You can get pretty good deals on groupon sometimes - 6 treatments for £100.

mummyofmoomoos · 02/08/2017 18:24

Fair skin, dark hair- moustache, hairy dogs chin, face furry, thick black wirey hairs under chin, arm and leg hair like brian blessed's beard... pcos sucks Sad

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 02/08/2017 18:32

Too much.
Those of you who had laser/electrolysis , how did you manage to grow them and still go out? threading on my face was a horrifically painful experience. Waxing gives me spots.
I run a razor over my face and neck every morning. However, I don't shave my body hair I also have nightmares about being in a coma and growing a full hipster beard. It is a real worry but one I try not to dwell on . If I'm going to be a yeti what can I do?

torthecatlady · 02/08/2017 18:32

I feel the pain!

I have the fuzzy peach syndrome on my cheeks and I'm almost at the point where I'm going to wax my whole face. Just a bit nervous about the regrowth!

No hairs (as of yet) on my chin, but a couple of moles on my neck that sprout long dark thick hairs. These get tweezed out, although I'm sure I'm not supposed to use tweezers on moles.

My nostrils have long dark hairs in, also tempted to have them waxed!

Regularly have my eyebrows waxed into shape, no mono brow thought

My legs (and bikini) are bloody awful. Shaving is pointless, but hate the long wait for it to grow for a wax! The hair is very very thick and dark and grows in patches. Yet I'm a natural blonde. Hmm

Cellardoor23 · 02/08/2017 18:54

I have this too. It's seems to have got worse after having a baby. I've also recently turned 30. I don't think I have PCOS or any other hormonal imbalances, I've just put it down to genetics. Plus I have pale skin and dark hair so it seems more noticeable to me. I still hate it.

I've had laser hair removal in the past, but it grew back eventually. Not as bad, but it's still there.

Cellardoor23 · 02/08/2017 18:56

I was once asked if I had HD eyebrows. Much to my confusion, as I had no idea what they were talking about at the time. No I just have thick eyebrows. I get them regularly threaded now!

LittleWingSoul · 02/08/2017 19:27

isaulte waxing has started giving me a really bad hive type rash, after years of being ok so switched to threading, which I find eye-wateringly painful. Would you recommend the twizzly springy thing then?

Hulder · 02/08/2017 19:38

Now - not much, just a few strands

2 years ago - loads.

I had masses and masses of laser and although it worked, and the hair got less initially, it also got finer and too pale to be picked up by the laser. Which was annoying. And hormones meant I kept growing new hairs as fast as I killed off the old ones.

Electrolysis has been far better but much more painful Gone from half an hour every other week to 15 minutes every 3-4 weeks and it really is invisible now.

Wish I hadn't wasted the time and money on laser - although it was amazing for my legs and underarms.

annandale · 02/08/2017 19:56

Would be a full beard and tache if I didn't shave, ideally twice a day. PCOS and both too poor and too cheap to pay for electrolysis agony on the scale required.

On the plus side, my skin is in great condition.

MissBax · 02/08/2017 19:59

Hulder - how much does the electrolysis cost, if you don't mind me asking?

LittleWingSoul · 02/08/2017 20:29

I may be missing a trick here but if you shave, do you not get thick stubble in its place? Is it very different if women shave to men shaving (their faces - legs, I know about)? I thought this was the reason most women didn't... because they would have 4 o clock shadow? I am prepared to stand corrected though...

uncoolnn · 02/08/2017 20:32

I am 24 and I get random thick black hairs sprouting from my chin. I swear they appear from nowhere, one minute they're not there and the next they are staring me in the face Envy

roses2 · 02/08/2017 20:37

I had quite a few stray hairs, that was until I invested in a Philips Lumea home laser device.

It has been brilliant for me! My dark hairs no longer grow, I just get the odd light hair. I was plucking strays on an almost daily basis. If you can afford one (they are expensive) then it's worth every penny.

Wallywobbles · 02/08/2017 20:45

Im doing laser and electrolysis on my beard. Laser needs dark hair on pale skin. Grey hair requires electrolysis. Both tolerable pain wise.
