....it's my first language but am baffled by tourists asking if we have our own currency Confused do people not do their research before visiting a country?

You're absolutely right - I don't speak for everyone. Should have been clearer that I was referring to my experience and opinion.

I just wish we all felt it strongly enough for the UK to be dismantled.

I'm Welsh and Welsh speaking and the last thing I want is for the UK to be dismantled. One decent sized country with a population of over 50 million and three tiny outposts all sharing a tiny island and the top of an even tinier island! Where is the logic in that? The population of Scotland is less than that of Yorkshire and there are roughly 3 million living in Wales, about the same as the population of Greater Manchester.

I'm Welsh first and British second and proud of both, and am also not daft enough to imagine Wales as an independent country. Scottish nationalism and the desire for separatism is one thing but Welsh 'pride' for want of a better word, is a different thing entirely.

This has happened before, in Bangor as well! Fancy a company telling employees they can't speak their own language in their own country!

I've never met a Welsh speaking member of staff there.
