Done to death previously but always new members joining!

I am not famous, dont have any celebrity friends. It fascinated by what it must be like to be famous or have famous relatives or friends!

Anyone willing to spill any beans tonight to cheer me up!

But why does it matter? I work with 'famous' people, most are very very normal. It's just the daily fail fodder who are attention seeking to the extreme. And I wouldn't class them as famous, they are celebs who need attention which is why they do what they do. And I don't there is anything wrong with that, they've clearly worked out a way to make money and why not! I would be far more giddy to meet an artist or a scientist who I'd read about. I think I've missed the point of the thread and/or taken my job for granted. I'll shut up now.

An opportunity to tell one of my favourite stories!

When I was at college, doing introductory bits and bobs. Tutor asks "does anyone know anyone famous?" No. "Has anyone met anyone famous?" No. "Has anyone seen anyone famous from a distance?" No. Nothing. Then this quiet girl pipes up "Oh, my uncle is in Queen". Jaws hit the floor. "Who is your uncle then?" Tutor asks. "He's the drummer'. WOW says everyone, Roger Taylor is your uncle. "Can you tell us any interesting stories about your uncle Roger Taylor from Queen?". No. Grin

do you wish she wasn't party?

Crumbs1 · 02/08/2017 00:13

There are a few better known neighbours. How famous? We have several well known actors locally but not A listers generally.
Husband's name would be recognised by those working in same field and is oft in broadsheets but he's not been on a reality tv show recently - or indeed ever.
We bought our current house off a 'household name'.
Been inside a few well known people's houses for various things - Elton John's in Windsor, Chequers, Cliff Richards, David Milibands, Anneka Rice, Julian Lloyd Webbers, Miranda Hart's parents, Hugh Bonnevilles, Felicity Kendals. Nicest was David Puttnam's place in Ireland. Several well known people had children at my children's school and we socialise occasionally still.

Missaligned I wonder if me and brasty are? It's a similar story. Mine involved two brothers, a disagreement, one went on to head one of the, currently, richest families in the world (according to Wiki) the other led an ordinary life. The dynasty of the other brother continues and I usually have a packet of their famous wares in my cupboard. I was born on the 'wrong' side but my mother became successful in her own right and continues to be posthumously successful.

Well... she's only famous by marriage and she most certainly could have married just as well without the added strings. But, she's making a very good job of it and I'm immensely proud of her.

troodiedoo

I did a course once with a really lovely lady and I cannot remember how we got onto the conversation but after about a year she told me "my BIL is a musician in a band, you probably won't have heard of them they are called The Cure" I was like Shock erm yes I have heard of them listened to them non stop in the early 1990s

centreyourself · 02/08/2017 00:18

I think she is too. If she is who I think she is😉
That boy needed a stable, happy extended family if ever anyone did.
And he seems to be thriving on it too. X x

I am. I'm far more famous than my little sister Charley. And cuter.

troodiedoo · 02/08/2017 00:19

centreyourself she was one of those I'm down with the kids, me types. Grin

PercyTuffety · 02/08/2017 00:20

button I completely agree. I've met and worked with loads of 'famous' people, my DC have been on the set of big box office films and have memorabilia from them, they've met lots of current big stars but they are just people. Some seem nice some a bit arsey. Meet me on a good day and I'm lovely. A bad day and I'm arsey. We're all human and being famous isn't, in my opinion, an admirable aspiration.

It must be so refreshing to be able to speak your mind lend. Without constantly worrying/wondering whether you will be quoted and how it will impact on your career.

Changebagsandgladrags · 02/08/2017 00:22

I've been on Page 3 and also on the telly.

The daughter of a very famous writer is a MNer - she sent me a lovely pm once Grin (and an autograph from her mum SQUEEE)

GirlOnATrainToShite · 02/08/2017 00:25

Famous people are just famous people. For whatever good/bad reason.

Unless they are someone I admire and respect I don't really care if anyone on here is famous, and then I don't really want to meet them.

Plenty of people on here do much more worthy things with their lives.

centreyourself · 02/08/2017 00:26

I know quite a few famous people and as Julian Fellowes once tried to explain about the aristocracy: they are like everyone else.
You get the same mix of nice, not so nice and awful people as you would in any other echelon of society.
But that wasn't even the question was it?
Or was there a question ...
For the love of Gid, someone please tell me to go to bed.
