Done to death previously but always new members joining!

I am not famous, dont have any celebrity friends. It fascinated by what it must be like to be famous or have famous relatives or friends!

Anyone willing to spill any beans tonight to cheer me up!

Every time I reply to someone on MN I feel a frisson of excitement and think 'I could be conversing with Charlie Dimmock of Ground Force fame'.

Then I have a nip of something calming.

My husband (seperated) was on a few cooking shows years ago, He's a chef with his own restaraunts

I have often wondered if chefs cook amazing meals for their own family when at home or whether it's more like that proverb about the cobbler's wife always being barefoot.

A friend is a 'household name', and I've met various other famouses through him. As others have said, they're pretty much like the rest of us - some are nice, some are arseholes.

I think phone cameras are a bit of a blight for the modern-day celeb. My friend's a nice guy and would always stop for a selfie, but he hates people taking sneaky photos from the other side of the while he eats his lunch or whatever. Just no need for it.

olebiscuitbarrel · 02/08/2017 14:33

I'm on TV & radio every week as a talking head with an opinion about news/politics topics on a certain theme. Infamous rather than famous & certainly not a well-known name or face. Though I did once get shouted at by a man in Waitrose who said "well I may have seen you on x the other night but that doesn't mean you can block up the aisle with your (double) buggy".

I blushed and he said "yes, you made QUITE the splash" before flouncing off.

Paperclipmover · 02/08/2017 14:45

I'm waiting for my minor 80s celeb DP to get his arse home and help me with the spot of DIY he promised he would help me with today. While we are off work and DC on play dates.

I could make more of a start myself but am reading this thread...

Oddsocksforeveryone · 02/08/2017 15:09

I've met Val Doonican.
My nan took me to see him and get his autograph when I was a little girl.
Our ice cream man is pretty popular and we get on reasonably well, so there's that too.
They count right?

squoosh · 02/08/2017 15:12

Oh olebiscuitbarrel I hope you're not Melanie Phillips or Julia Hartley Brewer. They often make a splash!

LinManWellWellWell · 02/08/2017 15:14

These threads are so frustrating because of course no one will say but I WANT TO KNOW!

waitforitfdear · 02/08/2017 15:17

I was on telly in Japan - part of a documentary series about Scottish honey.

MargeryFenworthy · 02/08/2017 15:33

I have a pretty high profile within my industry (city) but vast majority of people will never have heard of me. They may well have heard my voice on the news though from time to time!

newdaddie · 02/08/2017 15:35

I'm not famous but I look exactly like idris Elba..

Natsku · 02/08/2017 15:36

I'm well famous. Well at least I've been "recognised" several times in the street by strangers after being in a documentary earlier this year (about my brother, who is of the more infamous variety...).

Almost was a guest on Good Morning Britain as well but got postponed - might be on there in the autumn if I don't change my mind.

flumpybear · 02/08/2017 15:36

We used to live in a village in Hampshire and one of LED Zeppelin lived there too - another family friend was in the 'biz' (not well known ) and they'd often just jam at the local pub - the Led Zeppelin guy (think it was Jimmy Page .... I forget) he was often told by non-locals passing by that he looked like 'the guy from LZ) and he always just said 'yes everyone says that' lol Grin

waitforitfdear · 02/08/2017 15:38

This is yuck but many years ago my mum and dad were at a country hotel and met another couple and were in their company all night, said couple was a very famous tv barmaid and her much younger husband who hinted more than once about ahem " getting to know each other better " Blush

MorrisZapp · 02/08/2017 15:47

I've featured as an expert on BBC daytime telly and will do so again in the new year. Not famous but other nerds in my tiny industry are impressed! I don't get paid extra for it it's part of my job.

Heratnumber7 · 02/08/2017 15:49
