We're all human & I can't understand our penchant for celebs, the majority of which are just normal peeps - the self deprecating ones are my favs - please can someone tell me what this obession is all about?

The confectioner lady - Terry's Chocolate Orange??? famous for round confectionery, it must be.

An old assistant of mine was the daughter of a cinematic legend.

I've also seen Freddie Flintoff in the same local a few times.

I used to work in an alternative club so have hung out and drunk with a few bands such as Trivium.

The Misfits were the most stuck up band I've encountered.

I got told off by Charlie Simpson from Fightstar/Busted for leaving a line of toy soldiers on the doorstop.

My best friend used to date a member of The Automatic. (the really annoying Monster song now the theme tune to Hexbugs).

Auntieobem · 04/08/2017 08:19

My dp has just finished filming for an Angela Rippon series - and has been on horizon a couple of times. Does that count? (He never got to meet Angie though Sad )

Toysintheattic29 · 04/08/2017 08:33

I'm the lead vocalist in Jas Jas Jas

thetreesarealive · 04/08/2017 09:52

In my line of work some people use it as a means to get famous or it can be a byproduct of the career. I've always hated the idea though, so purposely kept a low profile and am only really known locally, which suits me down to the ground. I do know a few well-known people though, mostly people I've worked or studied with. I've occasionally pointed out to my kids certain people I know on the TV, but again make it sound like a 'normal' thing coz I don't want them to be awe-struck like most of the population seems to be! I've never understood the fascination, myself. They're just people. I'm just a person Smile

marciesmummy · 04/08/2017 10:21

Why would someone who refers to mumsnet as 'losernet' actually want to read or post?

Yujismum · 04/08/2017 10:35

You can't be...my neighbours cat is Spartacus.

FirstTimeMum07 · 04/08/2017 11:21

My hubby has been on a Welsh version of the one show talking about his business and he's been on the radio a few times and in the papers local rags rather than main tabloids

AlessandroVasectomi · 04/08/2017 11:25

I was the lead vocalist, guitarist and composer of all songs in Ayup

Mapoftheworlddoorknob · 04/08/2017 11:33

You will know me and my DH. My DH is still working in the industry.

VanillaSugar · 04/08/2017 11:36

I had a summer job at Terrys when it was still in York. No, you weren't allowed to eat anything. However, at Rowntrees (as it then was) apparently they let you eat as much as you wanted off the production line as they knew that after a week you would never voluntarily eat chocolate again (chocolate overdose, not that it was bad).

VanillaSugar · 04/08/2017 11:38

My brother fell in love with one of the Rowntree girls and wanted to marry her but she said no.

"You only love me because you want free KitKats" she said. And she was right.

They were both aged 4 at the time Grin

Murpher · 04/08/2017 12:32

I have a very good friend who's on close nodding term with Kirsty Allsopp. Apparently she's lovely, very generous and throws wonderful Christmas parties.

twinklenic · 04/08/2017 13:34

cuirderussie · 04/08/2017 13:36

I used to know Colin Farrell's dad. He owned a health food shop I used to frequent and was a terrible flirt! Colin "didn't lick it off a stone"

ScaramangasThirdNipple · 04/08/2017 13:41

Did you succumb to his charms cuir. Have a snog over the chia seeds?

cuirderussie · 04/08/2017 15:04

No he was very twinkly and handsome in an older bloke kind of but I managed not to have a romp among the dried mung beans!

The80sweregreat · 04/08/2017 15:33

I think that Colin Farrell looks a bit like Kevin Webster in Corrie. same dark eyes.
