We're going to have to call a halt to Brexit aren't we?

Lukewarm Remain voter here. Understand that the Government has to listen to 'the will of the people' and all that.

But for the love of God, now that it's clear what absolute economic suicide we're committing surely we've got to put a halt to it whilst the govt and the opposition work out what the fuck's going on!

Unless you come up with something amazing it's not going to stop.
I repeat how are you going to stop it.
Because in 12 months you have not managed it

How will you stop Brexit.
As just wanting it to stop won't cut it.
What plans do you have. who will stop it.

CardinalSin · 09/08/2017 16:01

The whole is slowly becoming unravelled. It may not unravel in time to stop Brexit, but the way it's going at the moment I think there's a good chance it will, as it's becoming clearer and clearer what a total clusterfuck it is, and that not a single person claiming to want Brexit has the faintest clue what to do about the issues, particularly NI.

The more we question these things, the more people, including the government, will come to the realisation that screwing the economy for the foreseeable future will not, in fact, help the PCC, ways will be found to either wiggle out of it completely, have a "transitional" deal which will be identical to membership until after the next election at least (passing responsibility to the next government), or a deal that is Brexit in name only.

So your now accepting that it won't be stopped. Which isn't what you said before.

alltouchedout · 09/08/2017 16:07

What do you think of James Chapman's ideas, mummmy?

Obviously reading comprehension is not one of the tests for Mensa membership...

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 16:21

Have said for years I wish there was a 3rd party to vote for.

Cardinalsin you are now saying that you can't stop it, and your hoping there will be ways to stop it found after the leave date, but as pointed out it all needs to be agreed by all 27 members or we go to WTA and would have to rejoin.
You do know this won't happen don't you.
More details needed.

CardinalSin · 09/08/2017 16:24

Could you please quote where I said that?

It may not unravel in time to stop Brexit.
it won't and since we all know it has to be agreed by 2019, that means we come out.

CardinalSin · 09/08/2017 16:29

I believe I said "It may not unravel in time to stop Brexit".

I hope it does, and think that there's a good chance that it will.

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 16:34

Your placing all your hopes on this very vague idea of staying, having no idea what this is just Blind faith ? Oh hang on you said that to me.

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 16:38

Your hoping for a FUDGE, god give me strength.

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 16:41

Cruel Camera, found the lemmings used for White Wilderness were flown from Hudson Bay to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where they did not jump off the cliff, but were in fact forced off the cliff by the camera crew.

said there would be some kind of fudge.
So do you want Vanilla or Rum and Raisin.
Or did you mean a fudge, as in some kind of botched up agreement.

Peregrina · 09/08/2017 16:50

I know there will be trouble ahead, everyone knew that.
Strangely Boris, Gove, Farage etc. said it was all going to be wonderful - until they won that is, when Gove and Boris looked thunderstuck, realising that it wasn't a game and that they would have to put their money where their mouths were. We are still waiting for that.

CardinalSin · 09/08/2017 16:53

Comprehension is a definite problem here Hmm.

Either that or deliberate misrepresentation. As if Brexiteers would do that

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 16:56

And i am still waiting for a clear way this is going to stop this apart from a wing and prayer.
