We're going to have to call a halt to Brexit aren't we?

Lukewarm Remain voter here. Understand that the Government has to listen to 'the will of the people' and all that.

But for the love of God, now that it's clear what absolute economic suicide we're committing surely we've got to put a halt to it whilst the govt and the opposition work out what the fuck's going on!

So mummy's position seems to have changed from 'it's a great idea, you'll see' to 'actually it's a total disaster, but we're definitely not for budging'.

Is this just all about 'winning' for brexiteers? Confused

So, I got one over on the establishment, I beat the remoaners, I pissed off Brussels. As a result we're facing an economic and bureaucratic clusterfuck, with no tangible benefit to anyone, but that doesn't matter because victory is mine and I'm not giving it up. Is that it?

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 14:18

We voted, We are coming out.
72.2% of the electorate cast a vote. Just under 52% of those votes were to leave. So, 37% of the electorate voted to leave. We probably are coming out, not least because of people taking the "out means out even if it means ruin we have to leave" approach you are, but I don't think the fact that 37% of the electorate wanted out means the rest of us have to come quietly.

No your kicking and screaming but out it will be,

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 14:19

My position has never changed,
We are out, I am glad about it.
I am sorry you don't like it, but there is nothing you can do we are coming out.

TheElementsSong · 09/08/2017 14:25

Amazing standard of cerebral argument we're getting here. If only I had the level of intellect required to fully comprehend the brilliance.

CardinalSin · 09/08/2017 14:26

Oh dear, is Mummy trying to come across as a Martyr?

That's just hilarious!

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 14:27

I felt we had this once in a lifetime chance to get out.
I didn't want an EU Army we have NATO.
I don't want the Euro, look at Greece.
I know there will be trouble ahead, everyone knew that.
but it all in the end comes back to who voted and how they voted.

Do you think someone actually gave her a membership of Densa as a joke and she thinks it's Mensa?

I can't see any other explanation...

"you must have been on the debating team at oxbridge" Grin

Or was it Uxbridge university?

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 14:30

I do hope you at some point pick up on the win and lose idea.
Martyr? No just in trying to be nice you try to read things into what is written to make yourselves feel better, Shame as tonight I still know we voted OUT.

ShatnersWig · 09/08/2017 14:33

Mummy can you please explain what you meant by saying this: "I don't want the Euro, look at Greece"? We weren't in the Euro. We were never in the Euro. We were never going to be in the Euro. We had a total and utter permanent get-out clause on that.

So, you voted out partly on the basis of something that you didn't want, but which we didn't have, and were never going to have? Doesn't seem to make sense to me....

Greece is in trouble, and due to the link to the EU can't do anything with it's currency as it's linked and uses the Euro.
At some point they will want everyone to use it, as otherwise the EU master plan doesn't make sense. Junkier said one day he wanted us to use it, 2010 manifesto con/lib said they wouldn't, for the life time of that parliament.
I knew I didn't want to be further pulled into the EU so I voted out.
It may seem wrong from your point of view, but to me it seemed and still does the right thing to do for the UK.

ShatnersWig · 09/08/2017 14:49

Mummy Personally I felt we should remain although I do think some reform is definitely required. However, I have no problem with people who voted to leave if they did so on the basis of genuine fact. Voting leave because "I don't want the euro" which you were never going to have, isn't voting on a genuine fact, that's all.

OK Shatner, there have been may things implied, but I still feel I voted the best thing for the UK based on decades of being a voting adult.
This is my right as someone who lives in the UK.
Where I live I know we had a massive leave vote, as I sat and counted the votes on the night. I think we had 3 votes than couldn't be counted out of 1000's,

CardinalSin · 09/08/2017 15:06

Anyone else seeing a pattern with the Leavers?

Leaver: "I voted leave because reason A" Reason A is completely debunked Leaver: "But but but " Reason A even more completely debunked Leaver: "Waah, Will Of The People"

Later; Leaver: "I voted leave because reason B" Reason B is completely debunked Leaver: "But but but " Reason B even more completely debunked Leaver: "Waah, You Lost Get Over It"

Later; Leaver: "I voted leave because reason C" Reason C is completely debunked Leaver: "But but but " Reason C even more completely debunked Leaver: "Waah, It's Happening Deal With It"

Although I have to admit "You can shout at me if it makes you feel better" is a new, and utterly hilarious, one!

CardinalSin it's not fair
Leaver: Don't care we won.
CardinalSin But I don't want it to happen
Leaver: Don't care we won.
CardinalSin They lied. so did we.
Leaver:Don't care we won.
CardinalSin sits and cry's does nothing and it happens........

Nail on the head mummy!
The intolerance here does become tiresome as sometimes it seems that Mumsnet's raison d'être is for liberals to pat each other on the back.

CardinalSin · 09/08/2017 15:25

Is that the best you can come up with Mummy?

I thought you were supposed to be clever Confused

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 15:34

Decided you only understand pictures and name calling Cardinalspin.

mummmy2017 · 09/08/2017 15:35

You still don't have a working plan to reverse Brexit.

CardinalSin · 09/08/2017 15:37

If we get it stopped, we won't have to reverse it.

Not really all that complicated...
