We're going to have to call a halt to Brexit aren't we?

Lukewarm Remain voter here. Understand that the Government has to listen to 'the will of the people' and all that.

But for the love of God, now that it's clear what absolute economic suicide we're committing surely we've got to put a halt to it whilst the govt and the opposition work out what the fuck's going on!

So your saying we can have what ever we want and you won't object?
I don;t think it works like that.
You will have demands just like we do.
But until we tell you , you won't tell us..
Brussells will TELL you what your position is as they won't allow free movement.
This will be a similar thing with Spain and Gibraltar, only the boarder is much smaller.

It's not in Ireland's interests to roll over for the UK. Why would they?

What is the UK's start point in relation to Northern Ireland because no-one in Ireland knows.

The UK doesn't know. They're probably scheduled to have their first chat about the border issue in late 2018.

I read a good piece today about Ireland's position and how their hand has just got stronger.

Just deal with the consequences and come up with a realistic detailed plan so the rest of us can start planning too.
I agree with the sentiments but we have to wait to the details to be negotiated.

Fresh is so quick to dismiss well reasoned and evidenced opinions of what is happening and what is likely to happen, but when asked what the alternatives are? A very ignorant argument. Its easy to come up with many detailed ways we might die in an apocalypse but impossible to give detailed plans on how we will survive until we have actually worked it out. So come back after we have left and I will give you a very detailed evidenced opinion on how it has worked and explain why all your arguments where scaremongering.

Oh, someone else is going to sort that out! YES I am not the negotiator, I have no input what so ever. Someone else will be sorting it out.

On the Ireland boarder issue. A simple solution would be to have British customs and immigration checks around the ROI, like we have in France.

Fresh8008 · 08/08/2017 21:08

you've had 14 months to come up with solutions

We dont come up with the solutions we have to negotiate them with the EU. Your just being deliberately disingenuous.

ClamBakeSnake · 08/08/2017 21:10

Simple for who?

Simple solution.

It's almost as though people have no fucking clue about NI.

Or we could have an agreement as a non-Schengen member, there is precedence for this, where people are allowed to come and go as they like, 3 months without a visa or you can apply for one.
The firm boarder would be entry into the mainland of the UK, and we are already discussing immigration, and there could be a deal about how and what could be claimed by people in Ireland.

Clam I'd 😄 If it wasn't so 😖

I know! The situation in NI is such a complex one and sadly it's way down the list of priorities to David and Fox and the rest of the idiots. Barely thought of.

Fresh8008 · 08/08/2017 21:26

whosafraidofabigduckfart, you cant have it both ways. Either you want the UK to come up with a solution or you want to come up with a solution jointly?

So whats your PMs plan?

Alternatively why can't you have customs/immigration checks in the ROI? It would prevent a ROI/NI border, which is what we are trying to achieve. Will read article shortly have to run an errand.

TheNightmanCometh · 08/08/2017 21:29

As if the unionists are going to allow an effective border between them and the rest of the UK. The Tories are reliant on their votes, remember.

ClamBakeSnake · 08/08/2017 21:30

So whats your PMs plan?

He proposed a sea border for the island. The DUP of course did not like that idea.

mummmy2017 · 08/08/2017 21:31

But it would only be for non-UK, and we have that anyway.
2 lines. oh like the Ques in the paper last week
