I think Flowery being a crown dependency means that the uk has got your back if you get all invaded or really bad shit goes down.

TheMaddHugger · 30/07/2017 10:26

I'm fascinated that iOS have Isle of Man and not Scotland.

Do we need emoji makers?

faithinthesound · 30/07/2017 10:27

It wouldn't do any good. They wouldn't be iOS issue, so I don't know if they'd even show up. We've done what we can!

TakesTheCake · 30/07/2017 10:28

Are we really approaching thread 7?!

Can anyone remind me... did OP ever see these neighbours? Are we sure someone was even living there before the Dreadful Deed? Because we are all scratching our heads about why Barry and Julie are still not appearing, but perhaps no one has been living there recently and they are doing works from afar?

Ceto · 30/07/2017 10:29

If there was a fire and someone escaped into the enclosed garden, they'd be trapped there if the fire spread and at risk of being hit by falling debris etc.

It's still better than being trapped in the flat. And we don't know how high the walls are - they may be perfectly climbable.

TakesTheCake · 30/07/2017 10:29

Forgive me if this has been cleared up already. I have got lost a bit with all the responses and may have missed an OP update.

Nivea101 · 30/07/2017 10:30

What a great read this has been, better than the 2 books I bought from Waterstones which are still unopened lol. That duct tape if that's what you call it is sooooo difficult to get off, I used it on some boxes when I moved and had to slice it through with a sharp knife when I wanted to flatten the boxes!!

Also Margeuritta Pracatan as the Super Spanish Granny was genius, I'd forgotten all about this lady and her appearances on the Clive James show so had a little trip of nostalgian on Youtube.

Who needs a telly, books or newspapers when you've got Mumsnet it's kept me entertained for days!! Grin

HerRoyalFattyness · 30/07/2017 10:30

Oh breakfast! Thanks hugger

ReanimatedSGB · 30/07/2017 10:30

I started reading to catch up; thread static, then thread started moving and I thought OH CFN ARE HERE but just the rest of you getting up and having a wee and putting the kettle on and so on.

Tweez · 30/07/2017 10:31

Minecraftcheese - good point. I think Op has every right. Yes, we mustn't forget that the notice was put through and it appears to have been ignored. I think OP has every right to do what she has done to protect herself.

Nivea101 · 30/07/2017 10:31

*nostalgia

ColdFeetAndHotCakes · 30/07/2017 10:31

Delurking to say I would leave the tape.

The doors are illegal and open onto an enclosed courtyard garden, so hardly a fire escape.

The garden is private property which keeps being trespassed on. The builders have already disregarded the notice from the planning office, I wouldn't be surprised if they ignored OPs note as well. It looks like they're going to replace those doors with the new set, which obviously could cause more damage to both the listed building and her garden.

At the end of the day it's duct tape, and the sticky residue will scrub off a nasty PVC door. I'd leave it up for my own piece of mind that my property was secure. And as an insurance policy in case the builders try to avoid a hefty access charge from my solicitor.

Funko · 30/07/2017 10:31

Hmmmm breakfast!!

I am finally caught up and I'm sooo loving Trello.

Gorilla tape although hilarious... I must admit might be a teeeny bad idea and I have visions of op and her friend now stood outside in pyjamas, dishevelled and hungover trying frantically to prise it off 😂

Not loving the miseries implying op is being coerced by hysterical munsnetters.... I'm sure the majority realise that's whilst the issue is indeed serious... the majority of posting IS FUCKING LIGHTHEARTED FUN. Bugger off and winge somewhere else.

As you were! 🍳🥓☕️

FloweryBaps · 30/07/2017 10:32

@Snickers that's comforting to know, thanks Smile
So instead of CFNs we have neighbors who have got our backs in case we get invaded or really bad shit goes down (or NWHGOBICWGIORBSGDs). You gotta love a good acronym Wink

TakesTheCake · 30/07/2017 10:32

I just caught myself slightly wishing for a CFN of my very own, obviously getting carried away and forgetting these things are bloody stressful and time-consuming (and quite possibly expensive) when they are really real and happening to you.

Nanasueathome · 30/07/2017 10:33

From the diagram of the flats it does not appear to be a walled garden
It looks as if it is an enclosed courtyard in the middle of the block

TakesTheCake · 30/07/2017 10:34

ColdFeet how have the builders ignored the cease notice? Have I missed something? Has further work been done? Or is it just the doors that have appeared in the house? Because that could just have been a planned delivery, which would have taken place regardless of the notice to stop works.

MrsMozart · 30/07/2017 10:35

TheMadHugger Brekkie! Thank you Grin

Loving the PARKLIFE (username of clever person has just escaped me - my bad).

Tweez · 30/07/2017 10:36

I'd like to think we were all helping Op in keeping her sane in all this.

CheekyFucker · 30/07/2017 10:36

@Nanasueathome It is a courtyard, but split into 4, hence the "walled garden".

Vq1970 · 30/07/2017 10:37

Lurking in Guernsey to follow this. We're not part of the UK or EU but are part of the British Isles and a crown dependency. Sadly the UK did not have our back when the Germans invaded us during WW2 and took over the Island!

also agree about removing the tape, so far you have remained within the law and you don't want to give CFN any grounds to come after you. As much as this is providing entertainment for us, I sincerely hope you remain safe and it all gets resolved x

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 30/07/2017 10:38

Bananasandchocolate

Hello neighbour

Are you south east, south south or south west?

I'm as far SE as you can get before going for a little swim in the Severn

faithinthesound · 30/07/2017 10:38

OP came home to find cheapy plastic doors installed.
Then she called planning.
Planning came around and were horrified and delivered the cease notice.
THEN when OP got home from work, it was clear to her that people had been back - there were ciggy butts in her garden, and a different set of doors in the doorhole (at a loss for the technical term).
Ergo, we submit that builders have been back AFTER receiving the cease notice.

For any Twitter users, Margarita Pracatan is on there and it's really her and she posts some great stuff. Always so positive and upbeat no matter what
