Another who agrees with removing the tape as per the excellent legal view posted further up thread.

OP, pop out to a garden centre and buy a couple stout fence posts, the type with points at the bottom, and hammer them in to your grass as near as possible to (but not touching!) the offending doors. That way anyone inside wont be able to open them outwards and you are not actually touching the doors. Also, a large "Private Property" sign as close to the door as possible, facing inwards, of course.

(Sorry if this has already been suggested, have had to skip through the thread to catch up .... )

LakieLady · 30/07/2017 10:10

Glad your learned friend agrees with me, prettybird.

If there was a fire and someone escaped into the enclosed garden, they'd be trapped there if the fire spread and at risk of being hit by falling debris etc. And it would be harder for Pugh, Pugh etc to rescue them.

Troutfin27 · 30/07/2017 10:13

Ola from Portugal 👋

youokayhun · 30/07/2017 10:14

These threads have done an amazing job of stopping me thinking about the girl my partner decided to shag a few days ago.....honestly feel more pissed off that the neighbours ain't back yet Envy

prettybird · 30/07/2017 10:14

If the window didn't open enough for adults to get out before, then the only way that they could have used it to "escape a fire" would be to smash the window. That option is still open to them.

The only way that they could then get out of the enclosed courtyard, if Wattyyy wasn't in, would be smash her French doors - and then somehow get out of a locked house Confused

ninnando · 30/07/2017 10:14

Morning from Italy, not sure if it's already on the list.

Gingerandgivingzerofucks · 30/07/2017 10:14

Tape is OTT and regardless of illegal installation of doors, the tape could be seen as criminal damage to CFN's property. Please remove it and clean up the handles. Tie cables is the way forward, prevents access but causes no damage.

faithinthesound · 30/07/2017 10:17

Buongiorno! Sì, abbiamo ricordato l'Italia. Grin

MissFitton · 30/07/2017 10:17

I think the CFNs will be back today. Ready for work tomorrow. If I say it enough times it will make it true.

Crumbelina · 30/07/2017 10:17

Echoing the WD40 recommendation for sticky residue removal. Nail varnish remover also works a treat.

prettybird · 30/07/2017 10:18

The Saltire is Scotland's flag Smile

I'm in Glasgow BTW.

Can't get on to Trello though Sad - my phone is only an iPhone 4 and doesn't have the required iOS Austen for either the app or the Safari required Sad And my laptop has had a tantrum and will only open Google and nothing else Confused (And yes, I've tried different browsers Confused)

LookMoreCloselier · 30/07/2017 10:18

Yeah your friend shouldn't have taped the doors, can you remove it?!

Other than that, can't wait till the CFN come back! Shock Confused

TheMaddHugger · 30/07/2017 10:18

youokayhun Big Big ((((((((Hugs)))))😿😿😿

JolieColombe · 30/07/2017 10:18

Regardless of the fire escape aspect, the window must have opened enough for the builders to climb through in the first place? Unless they started the work from inside the kitchen. Must have made a helluva mess!

Just been through the flag emojis on my phone and it's true, none for Scotland! Pondering strongly-worded letter to Apple 😠

FloweryBaps · 30/07/2017 10:18

@faithinthesound Isle of Man is not part of UK or EU but is part of the British isles from a geographical perspective. IoM has its own government and flag (thanks for finding it), but is a crown dependency (don't ask me to explain what that means though, I have no idea! Blush)

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 30/07/2017 10:19

I would leave the tape on the door, no one has access rights to the garden except op.

Also waving from Wales (South)

ClashCityRocker · 30/07/2017 10:20

If they've gone away from the weekend they might be back today Shock

C8H10N4O2 · 30/07/2017 10:20

@faithinthesound Azores has a flag on its Wikipedia page [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azores] - is that convertable? I do love those little flags but icons/graphics not my strong point!

faithinthesound · 30/07/2017 10:20

England, Wales, and Scotland will all have to be content to remain under the UK flag until iOS releases their flags (it's supposed to be sometime this year though!)

faithinthesound · 30/07/2017 10:22

We're just using iOS emojis :) So we're limited to what they have. That's why it was interesting to me that IOM was there but Scotland wasn't!

RiversrunWoodville · 30/07/2017 10:22

DH has just said in reverent tones normally reserved for tractor and machinery dealers is your friend a farmer, high praise indeed! (He uses duct tape on everything) he also offers bailer twine if needed.

MineKraftCheese · 30/07/2017 10:23

The tape on the door is for OP's security, surely? Since planning people putting letters through the door telling them what they're doing is illegal, they have smoked in OP's garden. Who knows what else they could do ffs.

Karid1496 · 30/07/2017 10:23

Vango · 30/07/2017 10:23

Any good?

TakesTheCake · 30/07/2017 10:25

Yes, MineKraft, but you can secure the door without causing damage or leaving sticky stuff for them to complain about. Nobody is saying OP should not secure her garden. Just that cable ties would leave no mark.
