Didn't the planning people tell you not to do anything to the door? That tape may damage the surface when it gets pulled off and at the least it's antagonistic. I'm not saying they don't deserve it but that wasn't a very sensible thing to do.

Agree - I'd def. cut the tape off carefully - if CFN do it they could cause damage and have a claim on you, of some sort.

I'd be taping up those doors too, it's a security measure. You can't just have anyone being able to walk into your garden, and if your own patio doors are open, seeing right into your house too... you could be naked!

Long shot, but by not securing access to your own property could it even render your insurance void if anything were to happen? I'd not be taking any chances.

Been following from the beginning but first time posting! I'm a planning lawyer so have been following with interest!
OP, I would remove the tape too. You've got the moral and legal high ground here and you want to keep it. The doors belong to CFN and he/she could decide to make a complaint to the police that you've damaged them by attaching the tape. There's also a risk that in the event of a fire, the CFN wouldn't be able to get out.
That being said, I think you should block access to your garden but from within your garden. I'd buy a big wooden planter and fill it with gravel. I'd then stick a post in it with a sign saying "PRIVATE - KEEP OUT"!
Because the window has always overlooked your garden, CFN could claim a right of light but he/she can't claim a right of access - so you can block it but not fully by erecting a high fence etc.
I'd agree with what others have said too that this will take months/years to be resolved through planning enforcement. You need your lawyer to go back in the strongest terms possible ASAP to put CFN on notice that you will pursue this further.

Been following this amaaaaaaazing thread since Thurs but was running about 12 hours behind (pesky work!). Finally caught up live on thread the fifth yesterday tea time. Took me all day! 0 housework, chores or even food shopping done!!!
