Right, today is the day when CFN's appear, it must be! Wattyyy do you have a plan for when they do? Will you go round and ask them WTF or wait til they come to you?

Another vote for being careful not to do any damage to their new doors or their property at all for that matter. Keep the moral high ground and don't give them any reason to be able to criticise or complain about you.

That said, I do think given that you clearly told the builders that it was your private garden, and given that your garden was trespassed into yesterday cable tying/taping the handles together so they can't access your garden doesn't seem unreasonable to me. It's the least I'd want to do to feel secure in my property. As long as it's not damaging their doors.

As I've said before, in your situation I'd be beside myself by now. You and DTB are doing so well to see the lighter side of this

Doctrine of clean hands, @mrsheathy85? The doors by their very existence are illegal. The CFN's hands are not clean, therefore by the doctrine of clean hands, they cannot then ask the justice system to help them with any "crimes" committed against them?

I saw it on Judge Judy lol. She gave the example of a drug dealer, complaining that someone had robbed him of his heroin. Stealing is a crime, but so is possessing heroin - so the drug dealer can't go to the police to pursue the theft, because his hands aren't clean.

Maybe that's just America. But it sounds good, doesn't it? A pseudo-legal defense to "you taped up my doors" "well your doors are literally illegal!"

Sorry! I agree with mrsheathy's DH. You put a note through their door warning them of trespass, don't give them a chance to answer before you do exactly the same thing to them. The doors might not be legal, but they're not yours and you've no right to damage them. The doors aren't in your garden, they're in the other flat. Get rid of that tape before anyone notices!
