I know the neighbours are 'the enemy' but given that door replaced their window do they have a fire escape if they were to come back to the flat with the door taped shut? Maybe I have watched too much Casualty but I'd worry about them not having an emergency exit.

I think your friend is amazing and for the entertainment of MN and in standing up for her friend what she has done is fantastic. But. I just have a feeling that she has given them the upper hand a bit and would not be surprised if CFN reported you for damage. Not that it would make their own problems go away but it's am opportunity to "get their own back" for reporting them. Just sayin.
