"It's a fucking bow."
It's a bow that is roughly the size of a small child's head. You fail to notice the child as your eyes are forced to stare at the bright frilly dressing. They look awful and tacky because the very young girls wearing them look so artificially 'prettified'. a bit like this style

I have, for the same reason, alway detested Mini Mouse and her stupid bow. It's very Little Britain.

SkintAsASkintThing · 29/07/2017 19:51

Oh dd used to wear huge bows when she was little but never on top of her head, only with her hair down and sort of gathered back. Like this.

I saw a kid with silver, giant Jo jo bows on either side f her head the other day, she looked like a spaceship had landed 😂😂😂

Awfully tacky. They look ridiculous.

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/07/2017 19:56

Bloody hell wingless. Yes I totally see the comparison. Grin

reuset · 29/07/2017 19:58

reuset when I say old fashioned ribbon I don't think of those huge ones, I think of a small narrow ribbon

Well, old fashioned bows were large, as well as small, as pictorial evidence shows. Wink

It's a pity the photograph isn't from the other side but this little girl is wearing a large white bow. I found others where she was wearing a large black velvet bow. She is Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon aka the Queen Mother.

And here is a teenager who clearly is no better than she should be.

It's that kind of person who wears them though. oh slow clap for being the vilest person on the internet today margaret. Good to know my 3yo is "that kind of person". Good to know she'll fall pregnant at 15. FWIW she is tiny so her giant bow looks really daft but she wants to be like her older cousins. It's her head, her hair and she is just starting to want to make her own choices about her appearance. She looks in the mirror and thinks she looks ace and I'm not going to tell her otherwise.

HoneyDragon · 29/07/2017 20:12

I quite like the aciiiiiiiid tongue tattoo thing. Takes me back to my yoof

Fancythat69 · 29/07/2017 20:13

dd age 5 absolutely loves hers and looks (i think ) remarkably like Jojo when she wears one. They are harmless, nothing to hoik judgy pants up over

Hideously common and tacky. Dd(8) has 4. Meh.

Doublefecker · 29/07/2017 20:17

I bet most of the people getting frothy about jojo bows being called tacky actually have daughters who wear tutus with wellies and look decidedly middle class

ShellyBoobs · 29/07/2017 20:18

MaryPoppins - your girls look very cute.

I'm sure you'll be able to guide them back from the brink of whatever disasters automatically befall any little girls in years to come, having been so badly affected by wearing a bloody bow in their hair.

Very tacky bit kids look cute in anything. My dd 5 has a bright pink one. Makes her easier to find in the playground!

Who's jojo?

HoneyDragon · 29/07/2017 20:20

FancyThat. Your dd is very cute. And your ironing board cover is lovely, where's it from?

Fancythat69 · 29/07/2017 20:22

Thanks honeydragon, its not a cover as such, it came with the ironing board, its a minky one from asda 😀

LilQueenie · 29/07/2017 20:23

Get the cheaper ones from b&m the only difference is they dont have the gold jo jo button on it. The Jo Jo ones are way overpriced and a child to child marketing scheme. as if adults pushing merchandise on kids wasn't enough.

HemanOrSheRa · 29/07/2017 20:25

Fancythat your DD is very stylish. Bless her, she is adorable.

I have a smelly DS so think JoJo bows are lovely. If my nieces and DSDs were younger I would definitely be treating them if they wanted hair bows. What a funny thing to get so wound up over Confused.

ShellyBoobs · 29/07/2017 20:25

Fancythat - I'd keep a close eye on your DD. Not only has she got a bow in her hair, she's also wearing a leather jacket.

She's clearly up to no good!

xmasbaby11 Jo Jo is a girl who has a youtube channel and always wears bows in her hair. I think they then marketed their own bows as a brand. About 10 or 11 I think she is.

I really don't like them, but I'd say about 80% of the girls at our school have them, DD starts reception in September, I suspect it'll not me long before we're proud owners!

DaisyDando · 29/07/2017 20:28

Firstly, it's rude to say chavvy.

Most of us have wanted to fit in at school at some point, and if everyone has one of these huge bows, then it's an easyish way for many to "join in." They might well look daft, but so too did my snood, perm and fingerless gloves, so each to their own.
