Has anyone mentioned the Jo Jo bows effectiveness on the contraception threads?

They are hair bows, literally the least offensive thing ever. However thank god they exist because this thread is brilliant.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 29/07/2017 18:44

Firstly They do look cute Mary they do.

SecondlyAnyone who looks at a little girl and thinks she's 'chavvy' is an arse
and say that loud and clear. Complete arses.

As fashion fads go, I think they're pretty great: they can be worn by anyone regardless of size or shape without feeling self-conscious, they come in fun colours and patterns and they're not overly expensive (especially the non branded ones) Indeed. All that needs to be said.

There are some truly horrible people on this thread.

Dd2 has one, she's 7. She adores it and she just reminds me of an Easter egg especially when her hair is up and she has the bow on. As far as I'm concerned it's harmless, she asked for one for ages and now she has one she wears it every day

BackforGood · 29/07/2017 18:48

Hideous.
However, I'm sure we've all worn some pretty hideous things in our time, and at least it will just produce some embarrassing photos for their 18th birthday and nothing worse.

TheFairyCaravan · 29/07/2017 18:55

@MaryPoppinsPenguins your DDs look adorable 😊

It's a ribbon 🎀 folks. Remember Ra-ra skirts, puff ball skirts etc, etc? I'm not sure that we're in much of a place to sit in judgement on a hair bow.

I've got boys, the hours I spent spiking their hair up like Gareth Gates. It's a wonder they passed their GCSEs and A levels!

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 29/07/2017 19:17

Just a thought - does anyone know the official numbers of teen pregnancies from wearing bows in the last hair bow craze

Fekko · 29/07/2017 19:22

Oh, I'd say at least 5.

NotACleverName · 29/07/2017 19:25

My gosh, I do hate it when harmless things are labelled at "chavvy" / "chavtastic" by the cats bum mouth brigade.

It's a fucking bow.

Fekko · 29/07/2017 19:27

I want to know more about the fighting mums. I've only ever seen one school gate ding dong and that was scary-angry-Volvo mum arguing over a parking space and a skip.

KingPrawnOkay · 29/07/2017 19:27

It's harmless, and as far as role models go JoJo isn't the worst. I know she's just come under a fire a bit for lying that her dad nearly died for clickbait - but she dresses age-appropriately, her videos are innocent and she's a nice girl.

As for the bows - it's just a bloody ribbon.

winglesspegasus · 29/07/2017 19:29

its a fashion its kids
throwing stones and all that.
fashion by definition is a style that lasts a certain amount of time.
as for tacky go read the lasagna carb post those are disgusting and tacky. not the garlic bread lasagna one all the rest.gb and l is traditional . children are not tacky sticky maybe Grin

FineAsWeAre · 29/07/2017 19:29

I wouldn't personally get one of the massive ones for a 3-year-old as they look a bit OTT. It's just the in thing at the minute though, I wouldn't say they were chavvy. My niece has been pestering for one but my sister doesn't like the huge ones either, I found a smaller imitation one in home bargains for £1, my niece is made up and it looks quite cute.

Sparkletastic · 29/07/2017 19:31

So tacky

chickhonhoneybabe · 29/07/2017 19:33

I'm not a fan, but my 6 year old likes them and she likes watching JoJo.

There're on sale in Claire's at the mo, if anyone's interested.

chickhonhoneybabe · 29/07/2017 19:34

They're on sale at Claire's online, not sure about in the shops.

Passmethecrisps · 29/07/2017 19:34

I'd better add the risk of JoJo bow wearing to the list of things to discuss during sex ed.

Buy them or don't but to be sneering and judgemental of small children is horrible and says far more about you as an individual than a child wearing it

thefutureisfemale · 29/07/2017 19:35

Common.

Bonez · 29/07/2017 19:39

Tacky. They look ridiculous.

LadyPenelope68 · 29/07/2017 19:40

reuset when I say old fashioned ribbon I don't think of those huge ones, I think of a small narrow ribbon. Maybe there are more subtle JoJo bows that I haven't seen, but the ones in the school I teach at have been huge things, covered in diamantés, coloured jewels and things as big as pieces of jewellery. I stand corrected if there are smaller, subtle ones. They've been banned in our school now as well.

thanksamillion · 29/07/2017 19:40

My 7yo has one and wore it to church. All the elderly ladies complimented her on it and asked if she was going somewhere special. I guess I'd better set them right tomorrow and let them know they've encouraged her on a path of promiscuity and fecklessness Hmm

californication87 · 29/07/2017 19:44

I think the big ones are a bit tacky, but my DDs love them.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 29/07/2017 19:44

Mumsnet doesn't like the C word but it's very apt when it comes to Jojo bows.

winglesspegasus · 29/07/2017 19:47

lets see she wants a hair bow
not a 3 inch spike thru her lip
a tattoo of some popstar on her face.
a micro bikini to wear to the beach

i feel sorry for all these litttle girls
whats going to happen when they get older
suck it up mothers
the best is yet to come and when you tell that 13 yr old something is tacky or classless she will jump for itGrin

winglesspegasus · 29/07/2017 19:48

these

winglesspegasus · 29/07/2017 19:49

crap doubled up
